  • GPS L2C signal is a recently added civil signal to L2 frequency and is constructed by time division multiplexing of civil moderate (L2-CM) and civil long (L2-CL) code signals. While the L2-CM code is 20 ms-periodic and modulates satellite navigation message, the L2-CL code is 1.5s-periodic with 767,250 chips long code sequence and carries no data. Therefore, the L2-CL code signal allows receivers to perform a very long coherent integration. However, due to the length of the L2-CL code, the acquisition of the L2-CL code signal may take too long or require too much hardware resources. In this paper, we propose a three-step ultra-fast L2-CL code acquisition (TSCLA) technique for dual band GPS receivers. In the proposed TSCLA technique, a dual band GPS receiver sequentially acquires the coarse/acquisition (C/A) code signal at L1 frequency, the L2-CM code signal, and the L2-CL code signal to minimize mean acquisition time (MAT). The theoretical performance analysis and numerous Monte Carlo simulations show the significant advantage of the proposed TSCLA technique over conventional techniques introduced in the literature.

  • The GPS technique widely used recently in car navigation system has two problems that are unavailability in urban canyons and inherent positional error rate. The one has been studied and solved in many literatures. However, the other still leads to incorrect locational information in some area, especially parallel roads. This paper proposes and implements a system to recognize lane of moving vehicle based on images obtained from in-vehicle networks or other devices. The proposed system utilizes a real-time image matching algorithm which determines the direction of moving vehicle in parallel section of road. It also employs a method for accuracy improvement. The results obtained from experimental test on real-time navigation show that the proposed systems works well and the accuracy increases.

The first study is the recording method a navigating data by GPS, the 2th is SSB modem for data trans-receiver by use ship. And then the communication protocol of automatic traffic for in continues transmission a ship's ID, time and position data of GPS. In this paper have studied the SSB modem for transmission the voice and data at same time. Which is adapted to the communication control unit, protocol of data traffic and acquisition, displayer of character data. This maritime GPS MDT is considered to low-cost type by using microprocessor.

  • This paper presents the real-time experiments of WA-DGNSS transmission system using a pseudolite and shows the performance of WA-DGNSS. We implement a server/client program to receive the WA-DGNSS data from the master station, and fabricate a pseudolite to transmit the WA-DGNSS data to users. The performance of the WA-DGNSS transmission system is tested by software and hardware GPS receivers, respectively. The experiments show that the WA-DGNSS data is well transmitted to GPS receivers without errors and thus WA-DGNSS works well.

  • Today, a variety of systems have been developed to protect women and children. However, crime rates are still rising in the Green Zone. So we need the system to protect it. In this paper, we propose a system that sends messages in real time to the Green Zone administrator when a registered offender access to the Green Zone area. The existing system is a passive data transmission through monitoring. But the proposed system when access to the Green Zone set, detects a GPS-based. Accordingly, It is expected to be able protection through to monitor in real time and manage for women and children from criminals.

  • The Real Time Kinematic (RTK) technique is the most productive and accurate GPS positioning method today, as it can be determinate position within few centimeters instantly. This method is widely used for applications such as surveying, structure monitoring and machine guidance etc. In order to perform RTK processing for large scale systems (i.e. precise vehicle monitoring with many rovers), many expensive RTK receivers and same number of bidirectional communication units have to be installed to collect observation data communicate with the reference site and monitor its RTK solutions. Moreover, if applications require remote control or apply sensing instruments, we have to install computers at each rover. To limit expense and complexity of system management with a large number of rovers, we have developed server based RTK processing platform to share RTK function for all rovers. The system can be process many GPS stations with a single personal computer. we have also developed a specialized dual frequency GPS receiver unit without on-board RTK processing capability to reduce receiver cost in order to demonstrate the advantage of our server based RTK platform. This paper describes the concept of our server based RTK platform and specialized GPS receiver unit with existing applications in Japan.

  • It is difficult to edit large-scale digital maps because of problems of cost and process and it is carried out by aerial photogrammetry in renewal periods. Five years of update period cannot provide exact data required in the fast-moving age. This study is to analyze applicability and impact for editing digital map of road system using the GPS-Van. Results are compared with accuracy of the data acquisition with GPS-Van positioning. INS data are affected by the barrier to receive GPS data. But high accuracy were achieved by thorough plans according to work order. By using GPS Van and fieldwork at the same time for editing and renewal of digital map, it is expected that this method can be used to reduce costs in the economic and temporal aspects, and provide rapid and accurate digital map of road system.

  • Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has become an indispensable tool for providing precise position, velocity and time information for many applications like traditional surveying and navigation etc. However, Global Positioning System (GPS), which was developed and is maintained and operated by the U.S. Department of Defence (DoD), has monopolized the world industry and market, and hence there exists the situation that most of GNSS users absolutely depend upon the GPS. In order to overcome the monopoly, some countries, such as Russia, Japan and European Union (EU), have developed their own GNSSs, so-called GLONASS, JRANS and Galileo systems. Among them, the most prospective system in near future is EU's Galileo system scheduled to launch in 2008. This research has focused on the next generation GNSS system based on GPS and Gralileo system with developing a GNSS simulation software, named as GIMS2005, which generates and analyzes satellite constellation and measurements. Based on the software, a variety of simulation tests have been carried out to recognize limits of GPS-only system and potential benefits of integrated GPS/Galileo positioning. Geometry simulation results have showed that comparing with GPS-only case, the number qf visual satellites, Dilution of Precision (DOP) values, internal reliabilities and external reliabilities.

  • GPS radio occultation is a remote sensing technique probing atmospheric properties based on the fact that GPS signal is refracted and delayed by atmosphere. The FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC mission jointly developed by the USA and Taiwan is providing about 2500 occultation soundings a day on the near real-time basis. The Korean KOMPSAT-5/AOPOD system is preparing to launch for monitoring troposphere and ionosphere using a dual frequency GPS receiver and the antenna for occultation data acquisition. In this paper, we examine the methods for signal processing and the geometry analysis for GPS radio occultation, and look into the retrieval techniques for the temperature and humidity of troposphere and the electron density and scintillation of ionosphere. Using these atmospheric properties, we aim to derive the strategies for applying GPS radio occultation to space weather, for example, ionospheric TEC(total electron content) analysis for earthquake monitoring and the Open API(application programming interface) development for more effective data service.

  • Corresponding to the importance of real-time position tracing in the customs free zone, the logistics monitoring system utilizing GPS and PDA correctly confirms the position of the logistics at real time. Information obtained through the use of bluetooth is transmitted into the control station that controls the flow of the logistics. This logistics monitoring system can efficiently identify the movement of the logistics all the time.
