Recently, a lot of interest focuses on DGPS with which it is possible to obtain 3D geographic information in real time. There are some methods to transmit corrected signals which use ground based systems as beacon, as well as wireless and TV broadcasting media. However, these methods require a large number of stations. Therefore, when the distance from station to user is increased, there is a range limit to the transmission of corrected signals. In order to solve these problems, WADGPS method using Geo-satellite is being investigated. In this study, static and kinematic tests were performed by using Satloc SLX WADGPS and Ashtech receivers. The results showed that SA was affected most among corrected signals of WADGPS; it was followed by ionospheric delay, tropospheric delay and satellite orbit errors. The accuracy of static observation was approx. $\pm$1m on SA-on. This was ten times as accurate as that of absolute observation by common receiver on SA-off. In the SA-off, the accuracy of WADGPS can be improved further. The result of kinematic tests by WADGPS acted in concert with that of standard DGPS by C/A code. It was concluded that the application of W ADGPS could improve considerably navigation and the construction of geographic information.
Satellite positioning technology has been widely used in all kinds of military and civil land, marine, space and aeronautical target positioning tasks, navigation activities and accurate surveying measurements since 90s in the last century due to it advantage in providing all-weather, real-time, three dimensional and high precision positioning information, as well as speed and accurate timing information. By now, it has already formed a new hi-tech industry basically. This paper briefly reviews the development of the global satellite positioning and navigation technologies including the basic information of China′s "Plough navigation system", introduces the history of satellite positioning technology and its major application fields as well as the status quo of this being industrialized trade in China, gives an account of the writers′ vision for the application and prospect of the satellite positioning technologies in China, and approaches the tactics and stresses of the satellite positioning technology′s application and its industrialization future in China.
KOMPSAT-1 was launched on 21 December, 1999 and the main mission of the satellite is the cartography to provide the imagery from a remote earth view for the production of maps of Korean territory. For this purpose, the satellite has capability to tilt the spacecraft utmost $\pm$45 degrees to acquire stereo satellite imagery in different paths. This study aims to estimate the three dimensional positioning accuracy of stereo satellite imagery from EOC(electro-optical camera), a payload of KOMPSAT-1 satellite. For this purpose, the ground control points and check points were obtained by GPS surveying. The sensor modeling and the adjustment was performed by PCI software installed in KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute), which contained mathematical analysis module for KOMPSAT-1 EOC. The study areas were Taejon and Nonsan, placed in the middle part of Korea. As a result of this study, we found that the RMSE(root mean square error) value of three dimensional positioning KOMPST-1 stereo imagery can be less than 1 pixel (6.6 m) if we can use about 10 GCPs(ground control points). Then, a standarrd of FGDC (Federal Geographic Data Committee) of USA was applied to the result to estimate the three dimensional positioning accuracy of KOMPSAT-1 stereo imagery.
Since the operation of the first satellite-based navigation service, satellite positioning has played an increasing role in both surveying and geodesy, and has become an indispensable tool for precise relative positioning. However, in some situations, e.g. at a low angle of elevation, the use of satellites for navigation is seriously restricted because obstacles like buildings and mountains can block signals. As a mean to resolve this problem, the quasi-zenith satellite system has been proposed as a next-generation satellite navigation system. Quasi-zenith satellite is a system which simultaneously deploys several satellites in a quasi-zenith geostationary orbit so that one of the satellites always stay close to the zenith if viewed from a specific point on the ground of East Asia. Thus, if a position measurement function compatible with CPS is installed in the quasi-zenith and stationary satellites, and these satellites are utilized together with the CPS, four satellites can be accessed simultaneously nearly all day long and a substantial improvement in position measurement, especially in metropolitan areas, can be achieved. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of quasi-zenith satellite system on positioning accuracy improvement through simulation by using precise orbital information of the satellites and a three-dimensional digital map. Through this developed simulation system, it is possible to calculate the number of simultaneously visible satellites and available area for positioning without the need of actual observation. Furthermore, this system can calculate the Dilution Of Precision (DOP) and the error distribution.

Sounding data is the essential source for the safety of ships navigation system, and fundamental to the reasonable usage and maintenance of the ocean as well. As IT tech, positioning equipment such as GPS and INS, echo sounder are developed, recently, the precise submarine topography database bas been built by Multi-Beam Echo Sounder. However, MBES data includes some inevitable error caused by several factor, and some data have errors where the terrain is wobble. The error, which causes the $moir\acute{e}$ pattern error is the main factor hindering the accuracy of MBES data results, and therefore it is necessary to figure out the main cause of the error for the improvement of the accuracy by removing error data. On this research, the main cause of the error data is studied by analyzing motion sensor value of data including the $moir\acute{e}$ pattern error. Thus, as the result of examination, it turns out that the $moir\acute{e}$ pattern error is related to the standard deviation of Roll, and error data values are results of the non-correspondence between Swath data and Roll values caused by the drastic change of Roll values. Accordingly, the error data is removed by comparing between the gradient of Swath data and Roll values. Finally, as the result of removing error data, it is expected to be able to estimate the quality of MBES using the standard deviation of Motion sensor's Roll value, and calculate the additive error factor, which minimize non-corresponding data, and also this research must be contributed to improve the accuracy of sounding for small vessels with lots of motion in the bad circumstance for navigation.

Filtering process that separates ground and non-ground points from LIDAR data is important in order to create the digital elevation model (DEM) or extract objects on the ground. The purpose of this research is to select the most effective filtering algorithm through qualitative and quantitative analysis for the existing filtering method used to extract ground points from LIDAR data. For this, four filtering methods including Adaptive TIN(ATIN), Perspective Center-based filtering method(PC), Elevation Threshold with Expand Window(ETEW) and Progressive Morphology(PM) were applied to mountain area, urban area and the area where building and mountains exist together. Then the characteristics for each method were analyzed. For the qualitative comparison of four filtering methods used for the research, visual method was applied after creating shaded relief image. For the quantitative comparison, an absolute comparison was conducted by using control points observed by GPS and a relative comparison was conducted by the digital elevation model of the National Geographic Information Institute. Through the filtering experiment of the LIDAR data, the Adaptive TIN algorithm extracted the ground points in mountain area and urban area most effectively. In the area where buildings and mountains coexist, progressive morphology algorithm generated the best result. In addition, as a result of qualitative and quantitative comparisons, the applicable filtering algorithm regardless of topographic characteristics appeared to be ATIN algorithm.

The geolocation accuracy of SAR satellite imagery is affected by orbit and sensor information and external variables such as DEM accuracy and atmospheric delay. To predict geolocation accuracy of KOMPSAT-5 and KOMPSAT-6, this paper uses TerraSAR-X imagery which has similar spec. Simulation data for sensitivity analysis are generated using range equation and doppler equation with several key error sources. As a result of simulation analysis, the effect of sensor information error is larger than orbit information error. Especially, onboard electronic delay needs to be monitored periodically because this error affects geolocation accuracy of slant range direction by 30m. Additionally, DEM accuracy causes geolocation error by 20~30m in mountainous area and atmospheric delay can occur by 5m in response to atmospheric condition and incidence angle.

Kompsat-3 is an optical high-resolution earth observation satellite launched in May 2012. In addition to its 0.7m spatial resolution, Kompsat-3 is capable of in-track stereo acquisition enabling quality Digital Elevation Model(DEM) generation. Typical DEM generation procedure requires accurate control points well-distributed over the entire image region. But we often face difficult situations especially when the area of interests is oversea or inaccessible area. One solution to this is to use existing geospatial data even though they only cover a part of the image. This paper aimed to assess accuracy of DEM from Kompsat-3 with different scenarios including no control point, Rational Polynomial Coefficients(RPC) relative adjustment, and RPC adjustment with control points. Experiments were carried out for Kompsat-3 stereo data in USA. We used Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle(DOQ) and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission(SRTM) as control points sources. The generated DEMs are compared to a LiDAR DEM for accuracy assessment. The test results showed that the relative RPC adjustment significantly improved DEM accuracy without any control point. And comparable DEM could be derived from single control point from DOQ and SRTM, showing 7 meters of mean elevation error.

With the increase in the number of smartphone users, precise 3D positional information is required by various applications. The positioning accuracy using civilian single-frequency pseudoranges is at the level of 10 m or so, but most applications these days are asking for a sub-meter level Therefore, instead of an absolute positioning technique, the VRS-based differential approach is applied along with the correction of the double-differenced (DD) residual errors using FKP (Flachen-Korrektur-Parameter). The VRS (Virual Reference Station) is located close to the rover, and the measurements are generated by correcting the geometrical distance to those of the master reference station. Since the unmodeled errors are generally proportional to the length of the baselines, the correction parameters are estimated by fitting a plane to the DD pseudorange errors of the CORS network. The DD positioning accuracy using 24 hours of C/A code measurements provides the RMS errors of 37 cm, 28 cm for latitudinal and longitudinal direction, respectively, and 76 cm for height. The accuracy of the horizontal components is within ${\pm}0.5m$ for about 90% of total epochs, and in particular the biases are significantly decreased to the level of 2-3 cm due to the network-based error modeling. Consequently, it is possible to consistently achieve a sub-meter level accuracy from the single-frequency pseudoranges using the VRS and double-differenced error modeling.

Ortho images and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) have been applied in various fields. It is necessary to acquire Ground Control Points (GCPs) for processing high resolution satellite images. However surveying GCPs require many time and expense. This study was performed to investigate whether GCPs automatically extracted from ortho images and DTED Level 2 can be applied to sensor modeling for high resolution satellite images. We analyzed the performance of the sensor model established by GCPs extracted automatically. We acquired GCPs by matching satellite image against ortho images. We included the height acquired from DTED Level 2 data in these GCPs. The spatial resolution of the DTED Level 2 data is about 30m. Absolution accuracy of this data is below 18m above MSL. The spatial resolution of ortho image is 1m. We established sensor model from IKONOS images using GCPs extracted automatically and generated DEMs from the images. The accuracy of sensor modeling is about $4{\sim}5$ pixel. We also established sensor models using GCPs acquired based on GPS surveying and generated DEMs. Two DEMs were similar. The RMSE of height from the DEM by automatic GCPs and DTED Level 2 is about 9 m. So we think that GCPs by DTED Level 2 and ortho image can use for IKONOS sensor modeling.
