Testing the Reliability of a Smartphone-Based Travel Survey: An Experiment in Seoul (스마트폰 기반 통행 행태 조사 자료 신뢰성 검증: 서울에서 수집된 자료를 바탕으로)

  • With programmable applications that utilize sensors, such as global positioning systems and accelerometers, smartphones provide an unprecedented opportunity to collect behavioral data in an unobtrusive and cost-effective manner. This paper assesses the relative accuracy and reliability of the Future Mobility Sensing (FMS), a smartphone-based prompted-recall travel survey. We compared the data extracted from FMS with the data collected from the Korea Passenger Trip Survey (PTS), a traditional self-reported, paper-based travel survey. In total, 46 undergraduate students completed the PTS for seven consecutive days, while also carrying their smartphones with the activated FMS applications for the same time span. After completing the PTS, the participants validated their FMS data on the web-based prompted recall surveys. We then matched the validated FMS data with the PTS-based records. The FMS turns out to be superior in detecting short trips, which are usually under-reported in self-reported travel surveys. The reported PTS travel times are longer than for the FMS, suggesting that participants tend to overestimate their travel time in the PTS. This study contributes to the ongoing development of smartphone-based travel behavior data collecting methods.

  • 이용자의 경로선택 형태를 모사하는 통행배정모형 결과의 정확도는 교통계획에 상당한 영향을 미친다. 이용자의 경로선택 결정과정에서 가장 중요한 판단기준은 통행시간과 통행요금이다. 그런데 통행요금은 이용자의 경로거리에 따라 다양한 방식으로 부과되므로, 링크를 분석단위로 하는 기존의 통행배정모형은 현실적인 통행요금 반영이 힘들었고 또한 수요예측 결과를 이용한 다양한 분석에서 제약을 받아 왔다. 본 연구는 이러한 배경에서 경로교통량을 도출할 수 있는 경로기반 통행배정모형을 구축하였고, 또한 경로거리에 따라 결정되는 현실적인 통행요금을 반영할 수 있는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 경로기반 배정모형에서는 GP(Gradient Projection) 알고리즘을 이용하였고, 계산상의 효율성 제고를 위해 K-최단경로 알고리즘 중 MPS(Minimal Path Search) 알고리즘을 이용하였다. 개발된 배정 모형은 현실적인 통행요금을 반영할 수 있으므로 통행배정 결과의 정밀도를 향상시켰을 뿐만 아니라 기존 배정모형에 비해 최적해로의 수렴속도도 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문의 배정모형은 경로교통량이 도출되고 통행요금을 반영할 수 있으므로, 통행요금과 통행 거리 관계에 따른 목적함수의 규명과 그에 따른 효과척도를 계량화할 수 있다. 따라서 본 모형은 통행배정에서 실재상황을 보다 현실여건에 맞도록 규명할 수 있고, 기존의 제한적인 효과분석의 문제점을 해결할 수 있으므로 그 활용범위가 넓다. 또한 본 논문은 개발된 배정모형의 적용사례로서 고속도로 수요관리 요금체계 개선방안을 제시하였다. 기존의 고속도로 통행요금 산정 방법은 이론적 근거가 미약했던 반면, 본 논문에서 개발된 배정모형과 고속도로 수요관리 요금체계 개선방안은 고속도로 통행료 결정에 대한 과학적이고 합리적인 분석방법을 제공하였다.한 민감도 분석을 실시한 결과 대안1의 경우 교통량의 변화 및 화물통행의 시간가치의 증가시 사회적 편익이 오히려 감소하였고, 대안2와 3의 경우 사회적 편익이 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 경부고속도로의 화물차량의 구성비에 따라 대안 1의 경우 오히려 화물차의 통행시간이 증가함에 그 원인이 있다 할 것이다. 이상과 같은 결론을 통하여 경부고속도로상의 화물전용차선의 설치시는 수답렬 교통량의 구성비와 구간 평균교통량에 의하여 그 효과가 다르게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 물류비용 절감차원에서의 화물전용차선의 설치는 본 연구에서 나타낸 방법과 같이 수단간의 경제적 편익을 고려한 구간별 시간대별 효과분석을 통하여 정책의 시행여부가 결정되어야 할 것이다. 한편, 화물전용차선의 설치로 인한 물류비용의 절감을 보다 효과적으로 달성하기 위해서는 종합류류 전산망의 시급한 구축과 함께 화물차의 적재율을 높이고 공차율을 낮출 수 있는 운송체계의 수립이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 그라나 이러한 화물전용차선의 효과는 단기적인 치유책일 수밖에 없기 때문에 물류유통 시설의 확충을 위한 사회간접자본의 구축을 서둘러 시행하여야 할 것이다.으로 처리한 Machine oil, Phenthoate EC 및 Trichlorfon WP는 비교적 약효가 낮았다.>$^{\circ}$E/$\leq$30$^{\circ}$NW 단열군이 연구지역 내에서 지하수 유동성이 가장 높은 단열군으로 추정된다. 이러한 사실은 3개 시추공을 대상으로 실시한 시추공 내 물리검층과 정압주입시험에서도 확인된다..   • The Spatial Image contents of Geomorphology 3-D environment is focused by the requirement and importance in the fields such as, national land development plan, telecommunication facility management, railway construction, general construction engineering, Ubiquitous city development, safety and disaster prevention engineering. The currently used DEM system using contour lines, which embodies geographic information based on the 2-D digital maps and facility information has limitation in implementation in reproducing the 3-D spatial city. Moreover, this method often neglects the altitude of the rail way infrastructure which has narrow width and long length. There it is needed to apply laser measurement technique in the spatial target object to obtain accuracy. Currently, the LiDAR data which combines the laser measurement skill and GPS has been introduced to obtain high resolution accuracy in the altitude measurement. In this paper, we tested of the railway facilities using laser surveying system, then we propose data a generation of spatial images for the optimal manage and synthesis of railway facility system in our 3-D spatial terrain information. For this object, LiDAR based height data transformed to DEM, and the realtime unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via exactness evaluation is transformed to make it possible to trace the model of generated 3-dimensional railway model with long distance for 3D tract model generation. As the results, We confirmed the solutions of varieties application for railway facilities management using 3-D spatial image contents.

Highly efficient CMP surveying with ground-penetrating radar utilising real-time kinematic GPS (실시간 GPS를 이용한 고효율 GPR CMP 탐사)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to describe a highly efficient common mid-point (CMP) data acquisition method for ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveying, which is intended to widen the application of GPR. The most important innovation to increase the efficiency of CMP data acquisition is continuous monitoring of the GPR antenna positions, using a real-time kinematic Global Positioning System (RTK-GPS). Survey time efficiency is improved because the automatic antenna locating system that we propose frees us from the most time-consuming process-deployment of the antenna at specified positions. Numerical experiments predicted that the data density and the CMP fold would be increased by the increased efficiency of data acquisition, which results in improved signal-to-noise ratios in the resulting data. A field experiment confirmed this hypothesis. The proposed method makes GPR surveys using CMP method more practical and popular. Furthermore, the method has the potential to supply detailed groundwater information. This is because we can convert the spatially dense dielectric constant distribution, obtained by using the CMP method we describe, into a dense physical value distribution that is closely related to such groundwater properties as water saturation.

  • The IoT (Internet of Things) technology is rapidly becoming an important consideration in many engineering fields in the current 4th industrial era. In recent years, the concepts of digital shipbuilding and smart factories have been adopted as trends in shipyards. However, there is active interest in research on implementing autonomous driving in autonomous vehicles and airplanes, which is currently available in commercial form in a limited capacity. The present study is regarding the path-tracking performance of a boat to accomplish an autonomous driving mission using a flight controller (FC) and real-time kinematic (RTK) global positioning system (GPS) based on an open-source Ardupilot; an actual sea test is also performed using this system on a calm lake. The boat's mission is to evaluate the maneuverability of the self-driving process to a specific point and returning to the home position. For a given speed, the difference between the preset mission trajectory and actual operational trajectory was analyzed, and a series of studies were conducted on the applicability of the system to ships. In addition, the movements and maneuverability of the OmniX-type hull with four propellers were investigated, and the driving path-tracking performance was observed to increase by a maximum of 48%.

Analysis of the Suitability of Japan's Regional Navigation Satellite System for Domestic Navigation (국내 항해를 위한 일본 지역위성항법시스템 활용의 적합성 분석)

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) explicitly stipulates the required performance of satellite based radio-navigation systems available for navigational purposes. Until 2019, the IMO had only recognized systems that could be serviced globally for satellite based radio-navigation. However, India's regional navigation satellite system has been approved recently, and other regional navigation satellite systems have also been made available for maritime navigation. Thus far, the IMO has approved the use of a total of five satellite navigation systems, such as the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and NavIC. In Korea, in addition to the four satellite based radio-navigation systems that are used excluding NavIC, Japan's regional navigation satellite system that has not yet been approved can be received. Japan has requested the IMO to recognize the QZSS as a WWRNS to formalize its use for ocean navigations. Given that the service coverage of the QZSS is not limited to Japanese territorial waters and also includes Korean waters, the suitability analysis of the QZSS for domestic navigation is important for maritime safety. This study aims to analyze the suitability of using the QZSS for domestic navigation. Accordingly, this work explores the status and plans of the QZSS as well as the performance required by the IMO for recognition as a WWRNS. The methods and environmental conditions examined in this work are described, and the analyzed results are presented in terms of positioning accuracy and availability.

A Study on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of TiC/Steel Composites Fabricated by Powder Metallurgy Process (분말야금공정으로 제조된 TiC/steel 금속복합재료의 미세조직 및 기계적 물성 연구)

  • In this study, TiC/steel metal matrix composites were fabricated by powder metallurgy process using Fealloy powders with 3 wt.% Cr and 10 wt.% Cr, respectively, as matrix material. Subsequently, the composite samples were heat treated by the annealing and quenching-tempering(Q-T), respectively, to understand the effect of heat treatment on the mechanical properties of the composites. The correlation between microstructure and structural strength depending on the chromium content and the heat treatment conditions was studied through tensile, compressive, and transverse rupture test and microstructural analysis. In the case of TiC/steel composite containing 10 wt.% Cr, the tensile strength and transverse rupture strength at room temperature were significantly lowered by the influence of coarse chromium carbide formed at the TiC/steel interface. On the other hand, both TiC/steel composites containing 3 wt.% Cr and 10 wt.% Cr showed much higher compressive strength of about 4 GP after quenching-tempering compared to the annealed specimens regardless of the presence of the chromium carbide.

Detecting Surface Changes Triggered by Recent Volcanic Activities at Kīlauea, Hawai'i, by using the SAR Interferometric Technique: Preliminary Report (SAR 간섭기법을 활용한 하와이 킬라우에아 화산의 2018 분화 활동 관측)

  • Recent eruptive activity at Kīlauea Volcano started on at the end of April in 2018 showed rapid ground deflation between May and June in 2018. On summit area Halema'uma'u lava lake continued to drop at high speed and Kīlauea's summit continued to deflate. GPS receivers and electronic tiltmeters detected the surface deformation greater than 2 meters. We explored the time-series surface deformation at Kīlauea Volcano, focusing on the early stage of eruptive activity, using multi-temporal COSMO-SkyMed SAR imagery. The observed maximum deformation in line-of-sight (LOS) direction was about -1.5 meter, and it indicates approximately -1.9 meter in subsiding direction by applying incidence angle. The results showed that summit began to deflate just after the event started and most of deformation occurred between early May and the end of June. Moreover, we confirmed that summit's deflation rarely happened since July 2018, which means volcanic activity entered a stable stage. The best-fit magma source model based on time-series surface deformation demonstrated that magma chambers were lying at depths between 2-3 km, and it showed a deepening trend in time. Along with the change of source depth, the center of each magma model moved toward the southwest according to the time. These results have a potential risk of including bias coming from single track observation. Therefore, to complement the initial results, we need to generate precise magma source model based on three-dimensional measurements in further research.

  • Purpose: Greenhouse gases are one of the major causes of global warming, a global disaster. It aims to improve how effective the GHG reduction policy, which is the main cause of global warming in the transportation sector, has been effective on the highway and how to calculate GHG emissions. Method: Using the DSRC raw data, we estimate the emissions of Namhae Expressway (Yeongam-Suncheon) from 2017 to 2019 in two ways, a macro method (conventional) and a micro method (individual vehicle). Result: As a result of calculating the emission of the highway, the result was far exceeding the estimated emission, and it was found that when the calculation was performed for each vehicle, it was underestimated by more than 20%. Conclusion: If more emissions are continuously emitted than expected in the current transportation sector, additional emission reduction policies are needed to achieve the current greenhouse gas reduction targets. In addition, in the calculation of emissions, which is the basis of this policy, analysis was conducted for each individual vehicle using the current DSRC raw data, but using GPS afterwards will enable precise emission calculation through a more microscopic analysis.

Improved VFM Method for High Accuracy Flight Simulation (고정밀 비행 시뮬레이션을 위한 개선 VFM 기법 연구)

  • Recent progress in analysis and flight simulation methods enables wider use of a virtual certification and reduces number of certification flight tests. Aerodynamic database (AeroDB) is one of the most important components for the flight simulation. It is composed of aerodynamic coefficients at a range of flight conditions and control deflections. This paper proposes and efficient method for construction of AeroDB that combines Gaussian Process based Variable Fidelity Modeling with adaptive sampling algorithm. A case study of virtual certification of a F-16 fighter is presented. Four AeroDB were constructed using different number and distribution of high-fidelity data points. The constructed database is then used to simulate gliding, short pitch, and roll response. Compliance with certification regulations is then checked. The case study demonstrates that the proposed method can significantly reduce number of high-fidelity data points while maintaining high accuracy of the simulation.
