  • Progress in light emitting materials is presented. New polymers based on the Spiro concept show encouraging properties in electroluminescence performance and lifetime. The spiro-polymers can be tailor made to fit the RGB color requirements of a full color display. This class of materials showed recently very promising performance for white emission as well. They are readily soluble, show excellent thermal stability and can be processed by printing or through simple synthetic modification by photolithography technology.

  • In 2007 SeeReal had demonstrated the first large realtime holographic 3D display based on tracked viewing windows. Subsequent work has lead to advanced concepts for overcoming limitations of the prototype. This paper describes the current state of SeeReal's developments and its progress in practical realization of these advanced solutions.

  • In the present study, lactic acid bacterium that has antibacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori was isolated from feces of newborn baby. The selection was based on the ability to inhibit the growth of H. pylori and to withstand harsh environmental conditions such as acidic pH and high bile concentration. By biochemical test and 16S rDNA sequencing, selected strain was turned out to be an Pediococcus acidilactici, therefore designated to P. acidilactici GMB7330. In order to investigate the inhibitory effects of P. acidilactici GMB7330 on the growth of H. pylori, we have tested in vitro studies such as cell viability and urease test. These results showed that antibacterial activity of P. acidilactici GMB7330 significantly decreased the viable cell count and urease activity of H. pylori. Antibacterial activity of P. acidilactici GMB7330 against H. pylori remained after pH adjustment to neutral, and the concentration of lactate produced from P. acidilactici GMB7330 was not enough to inhibit H. pylori. On the basis of the analysis by transmission electron microscope, it demonstrated that addition of P. acidilactici GMB7330 destroyed the cell structure of H. pylori. These results strongly suggested that P. acidilactici GMB7330 produce antibacterial substances to be able to inhibit the growth of H. pylori other than lactic acid.

  • A novel stereo 3D LCD for passive interference filter glasses is presented. A demonstrator based on a standard 120Hz LCD was set up. Stereoscopic image separation was realized in a time-sequential mode using a LED-based scanning backlight with two complementary spectra. A stereo brightness of 3 cd/$m^2$ and a channel separation of 30:1 were achieved.

  • A wavelength multiplexing based stereoscopic 3D-LCD will be introduced. A new 120 Hz scanning RGB-backlight unit was developed. This backlight module was combined with a standard 120Hz LCD. The 3D-LCD based on interference filter glasses offers an outstanding channel separation and a wide viewing angl.
