Numerical Simulation of Nearshore Tsunami Using a Digital Wave Tank Simulation Technique (디지털 수치수조 기법에 의한 연안 Tsunami의 수치 시뮬레이션)

  • A Digital Wave Tank simulation technique based on a finite-difference method and a modified marker-and-cell (MAC) algorithm is applied to investigate the characteristics of nonlinear Tsunami propagations and their interactions with a 2D sloping beach and Ohkushiri island, and to predict maximum wave run-up around the island. The Navier-Stokes (NS) and continuity equation are governed in the computational domain and the boundary values updated at each time step by a finite-difference time-marching scheme in the frame of rectangular coordinate system. The fully nonlinear kinematic free-surface condition is satisfied by the modified marker-density function technique. The Nearshore Tsunami is assumed to be a solitary wave and generated from the numerical wavemaker in the developed Digital Wave Tank. The simulation results are compared with the experiments and other numerical methods based on the shallow-water wave theory.

  • 최근 GIS는 털러 분야에서 다양하게 운용되고 있다 최근에는 인터넷을 통한 정보 시스템의 요구가 급증하고 있으며, 웹 환경에서의 지리정보의 공유로 활용방안에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 특히, 지리정보의 활용을 위해 웹 지도 서비스의 요구가 증대되고 있다. 이를 위해 OGC(Open GIS Consortium)에서는 WMS(Web Map Service) 명세를 제시하고 있다. 그러나, 현재 제시되고 있는 WMS 명세만으로는 최근 발전하고 있는 모바일 환경에서의 적용이 어렵기 때문에 WMS의 인터페이스의 확장이 필요하다. WMS 확장을 위해 본 논문에서는 기존의 WMS를 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 모바일 환경에 적합한 WMS 확장 인터페이스의 방안을 제시한다. 또한, 확장 인터페이스를 바탕으로 모바일 환경을 위한 WMS 구조를 설계하고 개발한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 WMS의 확장 인터페이스 및 이를 기반으로 하는 WMS 구조는 사용자들의 요구에 적합한 WMS 개발에 기초 자료로 사용될 것으로 기대된다.

Development of Satellite Image Processing Software on Mainframe Computer (Mainframe 컴퓨터를 활용한 위성영상 처리 소프트웨어 개발)

  • A study to develop generalized and systematically designed satellite image processing software system on mainframe computer was successfully carried out. Commercially available softwares such as LARSYS were analyzed and modified, and well known satellite data processing algorithms were implemented into comprehensive software. New algorithms were also presented and developed. The contents of developed softwere system may be divided into 8 major sections: menu and user interface, data file management, preprocessing, enhancement in monochrome image, multi-dimension image analysis, scene classification, image display/hardcopy, image handle utility software. Some additional software such as GIS and DBMS will make this software more comprehensive and generalized one for the satellite data processing.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to design and implement an integrated geigraphic information system. To this end, careful examinations of various existing GIS packages based on vector and raster type model were performed. A vector type INTGIS which is operating in MS-Windows environment was developed. INTGIS is composed of many modules creating various menus which are able to facilitate user interface with the system. The function and utility of INTGIS was tested using real data. We found INTGIS is reliable and useful for extensive spatial analysis and mapping activity. Further development of INTGIS will be carried on in order to integrate vector and raster data, and to manipulate three dimensional data.

  • This study aims to introduce a model for enhancing community well-being through the utilization of public open data. To objectively assess abstract notions of residential satisfaction, text data from complaints is analyzed. By leveraging accessible public data, costs related to data collection are minimized. Initially, relevant text data containing civic complaints is collected and refined by removing extraneous information. This processed data is then combined with meaningful datasets and subjected to topic modeling, a text mining technique. The insights derived are visualized using Geographic Information System (GIS) and Application Programming Interface (API) data. The efficacy of this analytical model was demonstrated in the Godeok/Gangil area. The proposed methodology allows for comprehensive analysis across time, space, and categories. This flexible approach involves incorporating specific public open data as needed, all within the overarching framework.

Development of Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) in Small Scale Watershed (소유역의 효과적인 침식조절을 위한 유사평가 툴(SATEEC)의 개발)

  • The Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) has been used in over 100 countries to estimate potential long-term soil erosion from the field. However, the RUSLE estimated soil erosion cannot be used to estimate the sediment delivered to the stream networks. For an effective erosion control, it is necessary to compute sediment delivery ratio (SDR) for watershed and sediment yield at watershed outlet. Thus, the Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) was developed in this study to compute the sediment yield at any point in the watershed. To compute spatially distributed sediment yield map, the RUSLE was first integrated with the ArcView GIS and three area based sediment delivery ratio methods were incorporated in the SATEEC. The SATEEC was applied to the Bangdong watershed, Chuncheon, Gangwon Province to demonstrate how it can be used to estimate soil loss and sediment yield for a watershed. The sediment yield using USDA SDR method is 8,544 ton/year and 4,949 ton/year with the method by Boyce. Thus, use of watershed specific SDR is highly recommended when comparing the estimated sediment yield with the measured sediment data. The SATEEC was applied with hypothetical cropping scenario and it was found that the SATEEC can be used to assess the impacts of different management on the sediment delivered to the stream networks and to find the sediment source areas for a reach of interest. The SATEEC is an efficient tool to find the best erosion control practices with its easy-to-use interface.

  • Hazardous volcanic activity will continue to occur in the ring of fire, a major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. and, because of rising populations, development pressures, and expanding national and international air traffic over volcanic regions, risks to life and property through exposure to volcano hazards continue to increase. During an eruption, volcanic contamination can reach and exceed the cruising altitudes of turbine-powered aircraft, among others, within minutes and spread over vast geographical areas within a few days. Volcanic ash can affect the operation of aircraft at aerodromes. Volcanic ash deposition at an aerodrome, even in very small amounts, can result in the closure of the aerodrome until all the deposited ash has been removed. In this study, air traffic information framework is presented along with algorithms to define affected routes, waypoints and airports using GIS geometry analysis.

Design and Implementation of Standard Metadata for Digital Forest Cover Type Map (수치임상도 표준 메타데이터 설계 및 구현)

  • It is important to develop standard metadata to give more plentiful information about the forest cover type map and to promote distribution by National Geographic Information Clearinghouse. In this study metadata for the forest cover type map was designed based on TTAS.IS-19115 and it consisted of 10 packages and 50 elements. Also metadata editor was developed to implement metadata with standard schema and metadata viewer to service more user friendly interface. This work was about the first standard metadata for forest GIS data. So it would be a useful reference to develop metadata for other digital map concerning forest.

  • The spread of satellite image increases various services using it. Especially, 3D visualization services of the whole earth such as $Google\;Earth^{TM}$ and $Virtual\;Earth^{TM}$ or 3D GIS services for several cities provide realistic geometry information of buildings and terrain of wide areas. These service can be used in the various fields such as urban planning, improvement of roads, entertainment, military simulation and emergency response. The research about extracting the building and terrain information effectively from the high-resolution satellite image is required. In this paper, presents a system for effective extraction of the building model from a single high-resolution satellite image, after examine requirements for building model extraction. The proposed system utilizes geometric features of satellite image and the geometric relationship among the building, the shadow of the building, the positions of the sun and the satellite to minimize user interaction. Finally, after extracting the 3D building, the fact that effective extraction of the model from single high-resolution satellite will be show.

화물위치추적 기술 현황 및 개발 방향

  • 본 연구에서는 웹기반의 화물차량위치추적시스템의 개발과 관련된 문제를 다루고 있다. 화물위치추적 시스템이란 이동하는 화물차량으로부터 위치데이터 및 관련 정보를 수신하여 중앙관제센터에서 이 정보를 데이터베이스에 저장하여 두고 화물위치 정보를 지도 위에 표시하는 시스템으로 화주, 운송회사 등 육상물류관련 기관에서 화물위치추적, 공동수배송, 화물차량 통제 등 다양한 목적으로 사용될 수 있다. 화물차량위치추적시스템은 AVLS(Automatic Vehicle Location System)라 불리우면서 산업계에서 활용되고 있으며 위치획득 방법의 종류에 따라 다양한 유형의 AVLS모델이 등장하고 있다. 예를 들면 전통적인 GPS(Global Positioning System) 위성 수신, DGPS(Differential GPS) 기지국, PCS(Personal Communication System) Cell, 도로기반 시설에 포함되는 비콘 등의 방법에 의해 AVLS는 구현되고 있다. AVLS는 정보통신 요소 기술과 정보통신 기반 시설로 구성되는데, 정보통신 요소기술로는 위치획측의 매개체인 AVL단말기와 관제시스템 S/W. 그리고 GIS(Geographic Information System)가 있고, 정보통신 기반 시설로는 차량의 단말기와 관제시스템 사이의 데이터 중계를 담당하는 네트워크가 있다. 화물차량위치추적시스템을 구성하기 위한 구비요건으로 중계망의 안정성과 신뢰성, 획득한 위치데이터의 정확성, 관제시스템의 완성도와 AVL단말기의 사용자 인터페이스, GIS S/W개발을 위한 Map API(Application Program Interface)등을 들 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 PCS Cell 방식에 의한 위치결정방식을 채택하였는데, 이것은 PCS망을 기반으로 데이터를 주고받이며 인터넷 단말기로 확장 가능한 PCS 단말기를 사용해서 위치추적을 하는 시스템이다. 이러한 시스템을 선정하게된 배경은 단말기아 망 이용료의 가격이 저렴하여 현실적으로 트럭이 쉽게 부착할 수 있다는 장점이 있으며 나아가 인터넷 단말기를 활용하여 차량과 관제센터사이에 메시지 전송 등 부가적인 서비스가 가능하기 때문이다.
