GIS is the tool widely used for the practical solution of spatial problems in every region regardless of the language and ideology. In this paper research trends and tendencies of GIS in North Korea are reviewed compared with those in South Korea. For this purpose, academic publications on GIS in North Korea are surveyed and classified according to main subjects in GIS. Such classification by main subjects of GIS in North Korea are conducted on the basis of the classification of research trends and tendencies of GIS in South Korea. As a result, researches in North Korea are mainly focused upon such fields as geodetic surveying and measurement, map manufacture, atmospheric phenomena, agriculture and disasters, while there are few studies related to such fields as national GIS policy and circulation, GIS education, internet-based GIS, and traffic, to name but a few. Most parts of applied data are based on low and medium resolution image such as meteorological satellite images, Landsat images, and so on. This reflects the low level of the development of GIS DB infrastructure in North Korea.

This paper aims to analyze academic and technological progresses of GIS as reviewing research trends of GIS journals for which four major GIS journals, KAGIS(The Korean Association of Geographic Information Studies), KSISS(Korea Spatial Information System Society), KOGSIS(The Korean Society for Geospatial Information System), GISAK(Geographic Information System Association of Korea) have been selected. As the authors suppose that subjects of academic articles reflect academic and social demands, total 1,222 articles that have been published by the four journals from 1993 to 2006 were reviewed and analyzed by content analysis method. Because of large volumes and variety of research scopes, all topics in the papers were classified into several categories with title and keywords referenced in each paper and the categories were analyzed into 5 years period. Thus, from the analysis results, this paper asserts that research trends and academic progresses are well-structured to review recent GIS areas in Korea and the outcomes of the analysis can be an adequate guidelines to establish NGIS policies and strategies.

The purpose of this paper is to present guidelines on technical GIS policy for integrating GIS with emerging information technologies and infrastructure systems for national GIS development. These guidelines are expected to advance the development of GIS and stimulating GIS industry, by anticipating potential problems. This paper consists of foul parts. After Introduction, section two covers the present and upcoming status of essential information technologies including communications, security, LBS, Ubiquitous and standardization. Section 3 describes the guidelines for combing GIS and emerging IT for national GIS development. The final section summarizes and derives conclusions.

최근 정보통신기술의 발달로 인해 다양한 종류의 컴퓨터가 사람, 사물, 환경 속으로 스며들고, 이들이 서로 네트워크로 연결되어 인간의 삶을 도와주는 유비쿼터스 환경이 급속히 진전되고 있다. 이러한 유비쿼터스 환경은 모두 국토 공간을 근간으로 구현되고 있으며, 국토에 대한 공간 및 위치 정보를 제공하는 u-GIS 공간정보 기술은 미래 유비쿼터스 환경의 핵심 기반 기술로 대두되고 있다. 본 고에서는 u-GIS 공간정보 기술을 구성하는 핵심 기술인 GeoSensor와 GIS 데이터 처리 기술, u-GIS 통합정보 처리기술과 모바일 GeoSensing 기술을 중심으로 최신 동향 및 이슈들을 소개하고, 향후연구 개발 방향을 제시해 보고자 한다.

지난 수십년간 GIS(Geographic Information System) 분야에서는 소프트웨어의 비약적인 발전과 더불어 광대한 양의 공간데이터 구축이 이루어졌다. 이러한 공간데이터는 분산되어 있으며 지리정보 응용시스템의 특정 포맷으로 동일한 지역과 데이터로 중복 구축되어 비용의 낭비뿐만 아니라 신규 구축 시 필요한 시간 및 인력의 낭비를 가져오고 있다. 이를 방지하기 위하여 이기종간 분산되어 있는 공간데이터를 공유 및 관리하기 위한 메타데이터 구축이 절실히 요구되어 국제표준단체(ISO/TC 211)를 통한 메타데이터 표준이 진행되고 있으며 국내의 경우 한국전산원을 주도로 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구는 국제 표준화 동향에 발맞춰 현재 진행되고 있는 국내 메타데이터 표준의 동향을 살펴보고 이를 기반으로 생성된 국내 표준 DTD 및 XML을 이용한 실제 응용사례를 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 향후 분산된 공간데이터의 관리 및 공유를 위한 메타데이터의 효율적인 구축을 할 수 있다.

초고압 GIS(Gas Insulated Substation, 가스절연변전소)는 변압기와 더불어 송변전기기 중에서 가장 중요한 2가지 품목 중의 하나이며, 도시의 과밀화, 디지털 경제사회로 이행함에 따른 고품질 전기수요로 인한 전력공급의 신뢰도 향상의 필요성, 도시미관 개선 및 친환경적인 설비요구 등의 요인에 의해 그 중요성은 더욱 커질 전망이다. 또한 가까운 장래에 도래할 것으로 전망되는 전력산업의 IT화 시대와 미주 및 유럽 지역에서의 송변전 설비의 낙후 및 교체시기 등을 고려해 볼 때에 GIS 분야의 중요성은 더욱 부각되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초고압 GIS 관련 기술 국내외 연구개발동향을 분석해보고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to figure out the research trend of surveying in Korea through the analyses of research field and the published year of surveying related papers in journals and theses of master and Ph. D. The papers and theses published since 1957 were collected and analyzed to find out the major research topics and trends with time. The analyses of research trends in terms of time showed certain correlation between research areas, for example, remote sensing is highly correlated with GIS (98%), GPS correlated with GIS(95%). Through the regression analysis, it was found that the trends of the most fields were well-fitted with a third-order polynomial except the field of Geodesy. Furthermore, it was predicted that the number of studies in general surveying, photogrammetry, remote sensing and land information will be increasing while those in GPS, GIS, digital map and Geodesy will be decreasing.

최근 정보기술의 동향을 살펴보면 공통적인 키워드를 발견할 수 있는데, 그것은 바로 모바일(Mobile)이다. 이에 GIS 분야에서도 무선환경에서의 GIS 활용을 위한 기술이 확산되고 있으며, 대표적인 기술로 LBS(Location Based Service)와 모바일 GIS(Mobile GIS)가 있다. 이러한 배경하에 선진국가에서는 고도화된 전자정부 구현을 위해 무선 GIS 기술적용이 추진되고 있으며, 국내에서도 모바일 전자정부 추진계획이 수립되었다. 이에 본 논문에서는 공공분야에서 효율적인 무선 GIS 기술도입을 위해 공공분야의 무선 GIS라는 개념을 제시하고, 무선 GIS 서비스 구현의 기반이 되는 서비스 유형을 제시하였다. 공공분야의 무선 GIS 서비스 유형은 LBS와 모바일 GIS를 기반으로 적용 가능한 업무유형과 무선 GIS 특성에 따른 서비스 구조로 구분하여 고찰하였으며, 두 내용을 종합하여 공공분야의 무선 GIS 서비스유형을 제시하였다. 제시된 무선 GTS 서비스 유형은 향후 모바일 전자정부 및 공공분야에서의 모바일 관련 GIS 서비스 구현시 참조할 수 있을 것이라 예상된다.

According to the development of Internet system recently, we focused in GIS data distribution and applications via internet rather than GIS data construction. Therefore in this paper, we present the necessity of security policy on GTS data. So we analyze the actual condition of GIS data through expert poll. We classify all of data used in GIS with the three security level : high level, middle level, low level. Finally we propose the proper security method on GIS data transfer and on GIS database access in accordance with progree of PKI project.

국책기술 개발사업 연구성과와 국가 GIS 구축 기술개발사업 연구성과로 약 4억 원의 순수 연구개발비를 투입하여 개발한 순수자바 컴퓨팅 기술의 벡터형 공간정보 입출력 기능, 복합 공간분석 기능, 공간 데이터베이스 연동에 의한 저장, 관리, 색인, 질의 기능 등을 수행할 수 있는 웹 기반 GIS 공간 엔진 기술이다.
