In general, topographical phenomena are represented graphically by data in the spatial domain, while attributes of the non-spatial domain are expressed by alpha-numeric texts. GIS functions for analysis of attributes in the non-spatial domain remain quite simple, such as search methods and simple statistical analysis. Recently, graph modeling and network analysis of social phenomena are commonly used for understanding various social events and phenomena. In this study, we applied the network analysis functions to the non-spatial domain data of GIS to enhance the overall spatial analysis. For this purpose, a novel design was presented to integrate the spatial database and the graph database, and this design was then implemented into a WebGIS system for better decision makings. The developed WebGIS with underlying synchronized databases, was tested in a simulated application about the selection of water supply households during an epidemic of the foot-and-mouse disease. The results of this test indicate that the developed WebGIS can contribute to improved decisions by taking into account the social proximity factors as well as geospatial factors.

The horizon of using GIS technologies can be expanded to analyzing spatial changes by time in reality. Traditional GIS technologies usually use maps for a snapshot aspect of spatial information. Limitations of the present GIS technologies in terms of dealing with spatial changes require more solutions for collecting, processing and analyzing spatial data with time. Traditional GIS technologies include Temporal GIS, Real-time GIS and Virtual GIS respectively but those are not capable enough to represent spatial change in an overall perspective. By reflecting dynamic changes the current GIS technologies can be more useful and valuable than before. This study assumes that '4D GIS', a composite of temporal, realtime and virtual GIS technology, will open a new horizon for the future sophisticated GIS applications. By identifying a technology application model for 4D GIS the new concept of 4D GIS can be clarified. The model is established by combining dynamic spatial information types and applicable 4D GIS technologies, which are identified from the most current 4D application and research efforts. The technology application model for 4D GIS can be expected to contribute to efficient in planning for 4D GIS technology development in the future.he future.

Recently, component-based software has become main trends in designing and developing computer software products. This component-based software has advantage of the interoperability on distributed computing environment and the reusability of pre-developed components. Also, GIS is designed and implemented with this component-based methodology, called Open GIS Component. OGC(OpenGIS Consortium) have announced various implementation and design specification and topic in GIS. In GIS, Spatial analysis functions like network analysis, TIN analysis are very important function and basically, estimate system functionality and performance using this analysis methods. The simple feature geometry specification is announced by OGC to increase the full interoperability of various spatial data. This specification includes just geometry spatial data model. However, in GIS which manages spatial data, not only geometric data but also topological data and various analysis functions have been used. The performance of GIS depends on how this geometric and topological data is managed well and how various spatial analyses are executed efficiently. So it requires integrated spatial data model between geometry and topology and extended data model of topology for spatial analysis, in case network analysis and TIN analysis in open GIS component. In this paper, we design analysis component like network analysis component and TIN analysis component. To manage topological information for spatial analysis in open GIS component, we design extended data model of simple feature geometry for spatial analysis. In addition to, we design the overall system architecture of open GIS component contained this topology model for spatial analysis.
As information technologies are improving, geographical information system (GIS) technologies are also developing rapidly and demands for spatial analysis with GIS are increasing. Particularly, the spatial analyses with GIS researches have been noted rather than general GIS researches. However, most GIS researches focus on space dimension: a density-based clustering method (DBSCAN) or a DBSCAN algorithm using region expressed as Weight (DBSCAN-W) but the importance of rational decision making based on time dimension has been neglected. This study adopts system dynamics in order to put time dimension in GIS-based optimum allocation.
This paper analyzed the interregional flow changes of software (SW) industries using a GIS Flow Map. Employment data for SW enterprise headquarters from 1999 until 2008 were constructed according to the Origin-Destination Matrix, and were mapped and analyzed using the Flow Mapper and ArcGIS Flow Data Model. From the result we can identify the decentralization of interregional flow in SW industries and recognize the possibilities of the larger SW enterprises' employment, the higher locational footlooseness. The GIS Flow Map was identified as useful tool for researching growth, decline and spatial movement of industrial clusters that experience business relocation. This method can be applied to understand and visualize urban spatial changes.

In this study, a GIS spatial analysis method adopted fuzzy concept was introduced and land suitability analysis of waste landfill were conducted through this method. Previous studies conducted site evaluation and land suitability analysis by appling spatial overlay of conventional GIS that based on the boolean logic of crisp set. However these method can not consider the uncertainty of spatial data and the incongruity of data classification criteria, because these method handle spatial data based on the boolean logic of crisp set. As not provided trustable analysis result, conventional GIS spatial overlay method lacks opportunity for expanding use in reality. This study selected waste landfill as facility for analysis and applied fuzzy spatial analysis method as an objective approach. In the concrete contents of study, a series process with regard to the definition procedure of membership function for continuous data and the fuzzy input value generation of spatial data for fuzzy analysis is established. As a result, in this study we proposed a method that derive parameters for deciding the membership function of spatial data by considering the criterion of data classification and factor selection for land suitability analysis of waste landfill.
When analyzing geographical phenomena, two properties need to be considered. One is the spatial dependence structure and the other is a variation or an uncertainty inhibited in a geographic space. Two problems are encountered due to the properties. Firstly, spatial dependence structure, which is conceptualized as spatial autocorrelation, generates heterogeneous geographic landscape in a spatial process. Secondly, generic statistics, although suitable for dealing with stochastic uncertainty, tacitly ignores location information im plicit in spatial data. GIS is a versatile tool for manipulating locational information, while spatial statistics are suitable for investigating spatial uncertainty. Therefore, integrating spatial statistics to GIS is considered as a plausible strategy for appropriately understanding geographic phenomena of interest. Geographic hot-spot analysis is a key tool for identifying abnormal locations in many domains (e.g., criminology, epidemiology, etc.) and is one of the most prominent applications by utilizing the integration strategy. The article aims at reviewing spatial statistical perspective for analyzing spatial processes in the framework of GIS by carrying out empirical analysis. Illustrated is the analysis procedure of using spatial scan statistic for detecting clusters in the framework of GIS. The empirical analysis targets for identifying spatial clusters of breast cancer incidents in Erie and Niagara counties, New York.

Recent spread of GIS and the increasing demand of spatial data have brought about the development of web GIS. In addition to sharing and mapping spatial data, web GIS is also required to provide spatial analytic functions on the web. The FOSS(free and open source software) can play an important role in developing such a system for web GIS. In this paper, we proposed a web-based system for raster data analysis using map algebra. We employed GRASS as an open source software and implemented the GRASS functionalities on the web using java methods for invocation of server-side commands. Map algebra and AHP were combined for the raster data analysis in our system. For a feasibility test, the landslide susceptibility in South Korea was calculated using rainfall, elevation, slope angle, slope aspect, and soil layers. It is anticipated that our system will be extensible to other web GIS for raster data analysis with GRASS.
