Wildfire-induced Change Detection Using Post-fire VHR Satellite Images and GIS Data (산불 발생 후 VHR 위성영상과 GIS 데이터를 이용한 산불 피해 지역 변화 탐지)

  • Disaster management using VHR (very high resolution) satellite images supports rapid damage assessment and also offers detailed information of the damages. However, the acquisition of pre-event VHR satellite images is usually limited due to the long revisit time of VHR satellites. The absence of the pre-event data can reduce the accuracy of damage assessment since it is difficult to distinguish the changed region from the unchanged region with only post-event data. To address this limitation, in this study, we conducted the wildfire-induced change detection on national wildfire cases using post-fire VHR satellite images and GIS (Geographic Information System) data. For GIS data, a national land cover map was selected to simulate the pre-fire NIR (near-infrared) images using the spatial information of the pre-fire land cover. Then, the simulated pre-fire NIR images were used to analyze bi-temporal NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) correlation for unsupervised change detection. The whole process of change detection was performed on a superpixel basis considering the advantages of superpixels being able to reduce the complexity of the image processing while preserving the details of the VHR images. The proposed method was validated on the 2019 Gangwon wildfire cases and showed a high overall accuracy over 98% and a high F1-score over 0.97 for both study sites.

  • Web GIS (Geographic Information Systems) service systems provide the various GIS services of analyzing and displaying the spatial data with friendly user-interface. These services are expanding the business domain and many users want to access the distributed various spatial data. But, it is difficult to access diverse data sources because of different spatial data format and data access methods. In this paper, we design and implement web GIS services based on the inter-operability and GML (Geography Markup Language) of OGC(Open GIS Consortium) in web distributed environment. Inter-operability provides unique accessing method to distributed data sources based on OLE DB technology of Microsoft. In addition, GML support web GIS services based on XML. We design these GIS services as components using UML (Unified Modeling Language) of an object-oriented modeling language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software system. In addition, they also were developed in object-oriented computing environment, and it provides the interoperability, language-independent, easy developing environment as well as re-usability.

  • This study presented the route location method by applying AHP and evaluating quantitatively. This study developed the program that can be easily applied to this kind of road design, and built the decision support system for route location. The study results are summarized as follows ; We could quantitatively evaluate the appropriateness of exiting routes by applying the AHP based on GIS. If we apply this to the roads that will be newly constructed, we can make the objective and reliable route location when making road plans and basic designs. We improved the technique of route location by applying the decision support system with third-dimensional data, which considers even the vertical alignment plan, to the existing decision support system with second-dimensional data. And, since we can set those data such as vertical slope, earth-volume, structure size, location and construction cost to independent variables, we can make road designs more scientifically and reasonably.

  • This paper suggests design and implementation of moving objects management system using GML which is the XML encoding standard of geographic data. The proposed system integrates spatial data and moving objects data, utilizing the concept of Web Feature Services. While integrating data, standard data model and interfaces, proposed by OGC, are used. Since GML is standard for storing and transferring spatial/non-spatial data, interoperability and extendibility can be obtained.   • This research used GIS spatial analysis model and Huff probability model and achieved trade area analysis of area center. we constructed basic maps that were surveyed according to types of business, number of households etc. using a land registration map of LMIS(Land Management Information System) in Bokdae-dong, Cheongju-si. Kernel density function and NNI(Nearest Neighbor Index) was used to estimate store distribution center area in neighborhood life zones. The center point of area and scale were estimated by means of the center area. Huff probability model was used in abstracting trade areas according to estimated center areas, those was drew map. Therefore, this study describes method that can apply in Huff probability model through kernel density function and NNI of GIS spatial analysis techniques. A trade area was abstracted more exactly by taking advantage of this method, which will can aid merchant for the foundation of small sized enterprises.

  • The water resources information system of a watershed should be set up to understand the water management problems with reflecting basin characteristics for the effective water use. This study is to develop a watershed management system to be operated in water resources and water quality management. In order to promote effective utilization of this system, the various kinds of information data are collected, and this system could be utilized as a valuable tool for maximum uses of them. The information system developed in this study is constructed with GUI(graphic user interface) system using Arc-View and Visual Basic at the circumstances based on the PC. The integrated GIS and Remote Sensing based system is directed to the need for more detailed information on watershed management. The ability to present system clearly provides an indispensable tool for a river basin development and water management plan.

  • 체세대 무선인터넷 서비스의 대표 주자로 정부 및 관련 업계에서 한층 주목받고 있는 위치기반 서비스(Location Based Services, 이하 LBS)의 상용화를 위해서는 무선망 기술, 위치측위 기술, 서비스 플랫폼 기술, GIS(Geographic Information System) 관련 기술, 단말기 기술 등과 같은 정보통신 산업 전반에 걸침 광범위한 핵심 요소 기술과 GIS와 고부가 컨텐츠와의 연계 및 다양한 응용 서비스 발굴 노력 등이 상호 유기적으로 결합되어야 한다. 최근에 국내외 이동통신사들이 본격적인 LBS 기반 인프라 구축에 서두르고 있는 이유도 LBS를 무선인터넷 서비스 분야의 차세대 주자로 인식하고 위치 찾기 서비스 부터 고부가 서비스까지 다양한 서비스를 제공하여 LBS의 대중화 및 이를 통한 수익 극대화를 실현시키고자 하는 의지의 반영이라 하겠다. 이렇게 급변하는 시장환경을 이해하고 실제 서비스 환경에 맞는 적용 방향으로 GIS 고부가 컨텐츠를 위치정보와 연계하여 고도화된 LBS를 제공하는 필수적인 GIS 고부가 컨텐츠의 효율적인 관리 및 LBS 확대 발전 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 LBS 프레임워크상의 GIS 플랫폼(GIS 컨텐츠 서버)의 구성 및 세부 기능과 컨텐츠 및 서비스 제공자에게 제공할 공통 인터페이스 등을 제안함으로써 LBS 활성화 및 고도화를 위한 구체적인 추진 방법을 기술한다.

  • This paper briefly describes the classification of GIS- based model, and introduces some practical grid- based models such as TOPMODEL (Beven of al., 1979, 1984), AGNPS (Young of al., 1989), KIMSTORM (Kim, 1998; Kim of al,, 1998), and GRISMORM (Kim of al.,20110). Current status of GIS data construction promoted by Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) and system development of water resources information by Korea Water Resources Corporation (KOWACO) is briefly described. Further research needs for GIS-based modeling will be emphasized with some recommendations on GIS data preparation and proper field observation data collection.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the way of analyzing land uses to utilize GIS in the field of urban planning. The Saga Land Information System was built in early 1990s. The building data were inputted by house investigation map(1/1,000) using digitizer. And urban planning basis investigation data in 1994 were utilized as the attribute data. Also, by calculating specialization factor, we distinct the characteristic of every land use of the city, and it compares every land use zone. This study calculated and compared an observation frequency and an expectation frequency of every building use and land use zone. We found that the use of the building tend to be controlled and guided by the land use zone.

  • In recent years, many studies are being conducted to reduce the damage to humans in the event of a fire. In case of fire in large cities, evacuation route guidance services are provided using Mobile GIS (geographic information system). However, among the algorithms used in the existing evacuation route system, Dijkstra Algorithm has a problem that when the cost is negative, it cannot obtain an infinite loop or an accurate result value, and does not help to select an appropriate shortest route by searching all routes. For this reason, in this paper, we propose the shortest route guidance system based on A* Algorithm. In case of fire, the shortest route is searched and the shortest route is visualized and provided using a map service on a mobile device using mobile GIS.
