The purpose of this study is to test the reliability and validity test of PWI to utility of PWI. this newly developed by Sejin Jang which measures stress. The subject were 186 workers in service area. Cronbach's a and Guttman split-half coefficient is used to test the reliability of PWI. Factor analysis and the correlation of the GHQ-60. GHQ-30, GHQ-28, GHQ-20, and GHQ-12 with the PWI is used to convergent validity and discriminant validity. The important results of this study are as follows : Cronbach's $\alpha$ coefficient of data was 0.894 and Guttman split-half coefficient was 0.7097. The PWI was classified as 13 principle component (eigenvalue>1.0). After exploring 4 factor structure according to previous study result, 4 factors was explained 40.5% out of the total variance. The factor 1 was explained 15.9% and then the rest three factor was 24.6%. Factor 2 and 4 showed good agreement but factor 1 and 3 did not. Depression-related items were classified two factors. Anxiety and depression-related items were loaded unifactor. It was not clear that the PWI was consist of 4 concepts(factors). The correlation of the GHQ-60, GHQ-30, GHQ-28, GHQ-20, and GHQ-12 with the PWI were 0.744~0.905. According to findings of this study. the PWI showed a high degree of validity and reliability. Thus it is recommended to use the PWI in general setting for screening for stress. In addition, it is necessary to clarify the concept of depression and anxiety. In the further study. it my be considered to the factor structure of PWI and studied to two or unidimensional factor structure.

Purpose: This study was conducted to understand the effects of daily hassle stress on the psycho-social health of male workers in manufacturing industry. Methods: Daily hassle stress and psycho-social health in manufacturing industry workers were estimated by using the Daily Hassles Scale for Korea Workers (DHS-KW) and general health questionnaire (GHQ), respectively. Results: The subjects were 553 male workers who had never been occupationally exposed to hazardous chemicals, were mean age 39.6 years and mean work duration was 15.66 years. DHS-KW total mean score had significantly higher in young ages (twenties and thirties ages), office workers, managers and daytime workers than other groups. GHQ total mean scores were significantly higher in un-married, daytime and overtime workers than others. DHS-KW and GHQ score correlated that they were negative correlation with age and working years, but was positive correlation with working hours and overtime work. The significant correlation between DHS-KW and GHQ were observed almost variables of DHS-KW and GHQ except a domestic and daily problem in DHS-KW variables. Domestic and daily problems were only significantly correlated with anxiety and insomnia of GHQ variables. Conclusion: This study indicated that physical health was associated with work condition and psychsocial health was mainly associated with domestic and daily problems of DHS-KW variables. Thus, the study on Daily Hassles stress and related with work stress should be further investigated for the comprehensive health program including stress management and coping behavior.
This article aims to inquire into the decision making system and the sources of the original documents made by means of it in Imperial Japan, the colonial Chosun, GHQ, and the occupied Japan in terms of the post-war treatments of compensation on the Japanese colonial rules. It deals with them from 1910 to 1952 in the perspective of history and archivistics. This article attempts to establish the foundation on which the perception of the documents made in the Imperial Japan, its colony, and the occupied territory would be widened by placing the colonial rules and the compensation on them into a continuous line. The records of Japan's forced occupation of Korea during 1910-1945, and the original records documenting the decision making process of post-war compensation under GHQ, 1945-1952, have been dispersed in Korea, Japan and the United States. This dispersed preservation was mainly due to the complicated decision-making process among Governor-General of Chosun, the Japanese Imperial government, and the GHQ. It was the top-down styled, dual decision making system, in which the critical policies, personnel, and budget had been decided in Imperial homeland, while their implementations were made in the colonies. As a result, the records documenting the whole process of domination have been preserved dispersedly in Japan and its colonies. In particular, the accounts of not yet paid Korean workers that was forced to mobilize in Japan's colonial periods, which is emerging as the diplomatic conflict between Korea and Japan, had been dealt in the decrees of the Japanese government and policy-making of GHQ. It has already been changed to the problem as 'economic cooperation' from the 'debt'. Also, the critical records for post-war compensation were preserved dispersedly in the United States and Japan under the top-down decision making process of GHQ-Japan. Therefore, the dispersed records of 1910-1952 about the colonial rules by the Imperial Japan and the post-war compensation on them must be re-investigated for the adequate documentation in the context of time and space.
The Korean cultural heritage protection act, enacted in 1962, is known to have been enacted in imitation of the Japanese cultural heritage protection act. The Japanese law differs from the current law dealing with intangible cultural heritage, folklore materials, and buried cultural properties. The Japanese law was enacted in consultation with the GHQ, and reflected the historical issues at the time of the enactment. Recently, in Japan, GHQ documents have been released and so research on the cultural heritage protection act is carried out. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the meaning and achievements of the Japanese cultural heritage protection act before comparing it with the Korean law. GHQ stipulated the emperor as a symbolic entity in the Japanese constitution and prescribed the country as a liberal democracy. Influenced by this, the cultural heritage protection act was enacted to identify the people's cultural heritage. Accordingly, the cultural heritage protection committee is a private and independent organization in Japan. The committee designates cultural heritage assets, and it operates as the national museum and the cultural heritage research institute. This system was a part of policy changes shifting cultural heritage management to the private sector. Since many cultural heritages are associated with the imperial family, museums were managed by the imperial family. Meanwhile, the Japanese house of councillors persuaded GHQ, which was negative about including intangible cultural heritage in the cultural heritage protection act. The purpose of this idea was to provide the system of the government support for Japanese imperial court music and dance. In addition, folk materials were included with the consent of the GHQ in that they represent the cultural heritages and the academic achievements of the people at the time in Japan. According to the Korean Law, the subject of designation of cultural heritage is the government, and the cultural heritage committee acts as an advisory body with its limited functions. In the early days, the committee confused the concept of intangible cultural heritage and folklore materials. This was because the concepts of cultural property was borrowed from Japanese law and applied to the Korean law without a full understanding. In response, the cultural heritage committee urged the ministry to investigate the current situation in Japan. The cultural heritage committee, mainly consisting of folklore scholars, was confused about the concepts of intangible cultural heritage and folklore materials, but the concept became clear when the enforcement regulations of the cultural heritage protection Act was enacted in 1964.
본 조사는 1996년 9월무터 12월에 걸쳐 마산.창원 공단지역 사업장에서 근무하는 정상근무 근로자 1,640명과 교대근무 근로자 1,360명을 대상으로 General Health Questionnaire(GHQ-30)을 이용하여 정신의 학적 특징 및 점수 분포를 검토하였다. 전체 문항에 대한 상관관계와 Cronbach .alpha. 계수에 의한 내적 일관성(Internal consistency)은 정상근무, 교대근무 모두 만족할 만한 수준이였고, Varimax 회전에 의한 주요인 분석으로부터 추출된 GHQ-30의 정신의학적 특징은 정상근무가 5개, 교대근무는 6개 요인이 추출되 었다. 정상근무에서 추출된 5개의 요인은 '심리적 요인', '신체적 요인', '사회적 요인', '스트레스 요인', '자신감 요인'이였고, 교대근무는 상기의 5개 요인 외의 '직무 요인'이 추출되었다. 상기의 공통된 5개 요인 구조는 대체로 비슷하였다. GHQ-30의 점수 분포는 정상.교대근무보다 왼쪽으로 치우치는 경향을 보였다. (Skewness: 정상근무=0.42, 교대근무=0.27). 인구동태학적 요인에 따른 감정적 혼란의 정도는 교대근무가 정상근무보다 높았으며, 정상.교대근무 모두 연령별, 자녀의 수, 결혼 유무에 대해서 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 각각 20대이하, 무자녀, 이혼.미혼의 집단에 있어서감정적 혼란이 큰 것으로 나타났다.

Background: The ongoing economic crisis in Greece has affected both stress and quality of life (QoL) at all socioeconomic levels, including professionals in the police force. The aim of this study was to examine perceived stress, job satisfaction, QoL, and their relationships in a sample of police officers in Greece. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted during the first trimester of 2011 in 23 police stations in the greater Athens area. A total of 201 police officers agreed to participate (response rate 44.6%). The General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28) was used to assess general health, and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF Questionnaire and Perceived Stress Scale-14 (PSS-14) questionnaires were used to assess QoL and perceived stress, respectively. Results: The PSS and GHQ subscales and total scores exhibited strong, positive, and significant correlations coefficients (r): 0.52 for somatic disturbances, 0.56 for stress and insomnia, 0.40 for social dysfunction, and 0.37 for depression, yielding an r equal to 0.57 for the total GHQ score. A higher level of perceived stress was related to a lower likelihood of being satisfied with their job; in this regard, male participants and higher ranked officers reported lower job satisfaction. The PSS and GHQ scores were inversely, consistently, and significantly related to almost all of the QoL aspects, explaining up to 34% of their variability. Parenthood had a positive effect on QoL related to physical health, and women reported lower QoL related to psychological health. Conclusion: Higher levels of stress are related to an increased risk of reporting suboptimal job satisfaction and QoL. The magnitude of these associations varied depending on age, gender, and rank, highlighting the need for stress-management training.
The increase in the number of fatal electric accidents over the years has escalated the demand for specialized forensic engineers to determine their relevant technical causes. Likewise, the complexities associated with identifying the causes of electrocution accidents have prompted the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology at Dubai Police to adopt a new methodology to diagnose electrocution accidents, consisting of an approach that involves medico-legal examination, electrical diagnosis of the evidence, and trace evidence analysis. This paper will discuss the application of the adopted method in further detail by unfolding two case reports. The first report outlines a case in which a worker got electrocuted at a construction site while attempting to turn on a lamp. The second case report involves the death of a technician in a workshop after trying to disconnect a washing machine from its plug. The methodology was utilized during the investigation of both cases, which were attended by the appointed forensic engineers and showed promising results.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the differences according to depressive symptom-related difficulty status. Methods 2828 participants were a divided into depressive symptom-related difficulty group (difficult group, n = 774), and a non-depressive symptom-related difficulty group (not difficult group, n = 2054). The psychological character of the participants were assessed using the Korean version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12), and Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Statistical analyses were done using t-test, chi-square, and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Results Compared with the no difficulty group, the difficulty group reported significantly higher score in all items of PHQ-9. The score of "feeling tired" was the highest and the score of "suicidal ideation" is the lowest in both groups. ANCOVA analysis that is adjusted with the total score of PHQ-9 showed the differences in SWLS, GHQ-12, and CD-RISC scores between the difficulty group and the no difficulty group. Conclusions The findings suggest that there are different characters on PHQ-9, SWLS, GHQ-12, and CD-RISC according to depressive symptom-related difficulty. Therefore, it is required not only to evaluate depressive symptoms in patients with depression, but also the depressive symptom-related difficulty to understand these differences.
Purpose: To develop the stress coping behavior measurement scale(SCBMS) for the workers in manufacturing industry. Methods: Developing of SCBMS was based on job stress and psycho-social health status. Job stress and psycho-social health status were estimated by using the Karasek's job content questionnaire (JCQ) and the general health questionnaire (GHQ-28), and the general characteristics for subjects were estimated by self-reported questionnaire and interview. Result: The subjects were 456 male workers who had never been occupationally exposed to hazardous chemical and other materials, was mean age 31.27 years and mean work duration was 4.81 years. As a result of factor analysis for developed stress coping questionnaire, four factors were extracted such as inactive, active, health and emotional behavior from 15 question items of stress coping questionnaire. Fifteen items passed for item internal consistency (100% success rate) and item discriminant validity (100% success rate). Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each factor ranged from 0.56 to 0.77. The active behavior correlated positively with job demand of JCQ (r=0.12, p<0.05), but total GHQ-28 was negatively correlation (r=-0.24, p<0.01), respectively. Conclusion: These results demonstrated the reliability and validity of SCBMS. Thus, the results may prove to be a useful assessment tool in evaluating stress coping behavior.
This study investigated the stress of community residents in Kwang-Ju and Chonnam areas by using the General Health questionnaire(GHQ-60) as a instrument of stress measurement. The number of subjects were 445 residents who lived in three areas(large city, middle city, and rural area) and they were individually interviewed in March, 1994. The results of study showed that the degrees of stress measured by GHQ-60 were statistically significant in the residents' area, age, sex variables: (a) the residents in middle city among three areas had the highest level of stress; (b) the residents who were more than 60 in age had the highest level of stress: (c) the female residents had more stress than male residents, (d) particularly, the residents who were more than 60 years old in the middle city had the highest level of stress. Further, the results of factor analysis showed that there were three factors of social dysfunction, depression and anxiety and psychosomatic symptom. The social dysfunction factor was statistically significant in both age and resident area variables. The depression and anxiety factor was statistically significant in the residents' area, age, sex variables. The psychosomatic symptom factor was statistically significant in both age and sex variables. The study suggested that they should give a special attention to solve the old people's stress because stress was closely related to residents' age.
