Theoretical studies have been performed to study the binding characteristics of the alkali metal iodides, M-I (M = Li, Na, K), to poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO, I), poly(ethylene amine) (PEA, II) and poly(ethylene N-methylamine) (PEMA, III) via the B3LYP method. In this study, two types of complexes, singly-coordinated systems (SCS) and doubly-coordinated systems (DCS), were considered, and dissociation energies (${\Delta}E_D$) were calculated both with and without basis set superposition error (BSSE). Two types of counterpoise (CP) approach were investigated in this work, but the ${\Delta}E_D$ values corrected by using the function CP (fCP) correction exhibited an unusual trend in some cases due to deformation of the sub-units. This problem was solved by including geometry relaxation in the CP-corrected (GCP) interaction energy. On the other hand, the effects of the BSSE on the structures were very small when the complexes were re-optimized on the CP-corrected (RCP) potential energy surface (PES), even if the bond lengths between X and $M^+$ ($d_{{X-M}^+}$) and between $M^+$ and $I^-$ ($d_{M^+-I^-}$) were slightly lengthened. Therefore, neither the GCP nor RCP corrections made much difference to the dissociation energies.

In building geographic information for North Korea, we proposed the method of using SPOT-5 image, designed geographic information layers, and inspected the location accuracy. Basically this study is similar to existing method in which uses GCPs to build geographic information from SPOT-5 satellite imagery. However, this study adopted a different method of GCP acquisition. The GCP used in this study is a triangulation point which was made at Japanese imperialism eras. The location accuracy error was 8.755 meters horizontally, which satisfied the tolerance of 17.5 meters in the 1:25,000 scale public survey guidance. In conclusion, we suggest that geographic information for North Korea can be built from SPOT-5 images with the triangulation point made in Japanese imperialism times.
It is not easy to identify a ground control point (GCP) or even locate its vicinity from a SAR image. Although simulated SAR images may be useful to interpret mountain areas, they are not useful in flat areas because they do not show ground coverage or key features such as rivers, lakes and roads. In this study, we developed a method to simulate SAR images integrating geographical features to DEM to facilitate to locate ground control features from SAR images.

The calibration of resistance factor in reliability theory for limit state design of gravel compaction piles (GCP) requires a reliable estimate of ultimate bearing capacity. The static load test is commonly used in geotechnical engineering practice to predict the ultimate bearing capacity. Many graphical methods are specified in the design standard to define the ultimate bearing capacity based on the load-settlement curve. However, it has some disadvantages to ensure reliability to obtain an uniform ultimate load depend on engineering judgement. In this study, a well-fitting nonlinear regression model is proposed to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity, for which a nonlinear regression analysis is applied to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity of GCP and the results are compared with those calculated using previous graphical method. Affect the resistance factor of the estimate method were analyzed. To provide a database in the development of limit state design, the load test conditions for predicting the ultimate bearing capacity from static load test are examined.
In the case of forest areas, the installation of ground control points (GCPs) and the selection of terrain features, which are one of the unmanned aerial photogrammetry work process, are limited compared to urban areas, and safety problems arise due to non-visible flight due to high forest. To compensate for this problem, the drone equipped with a real time kinematic (RTK) sensor that corrects the position of the drone in real time, and a 3D flight method that fly based on terrain information are being developed. This study suggests to present a method for investigating damage using drones in forest areas. Position accuracy evaluation was performed for three methods: 1) drone mapping through GCP measurement (normal mapping), 2) drone mapping based on topographic data (3D flight mapping), 3) drone mapping using RTK drone (RTK mapping), and all showed an accuracy within 2 cm in the horizontal and within 13 cm in the vertical position. After evaluating the position accuracy, the volume of the landslide area was calculated and the volume values were compared, and all showed similar values. Through this study, the possibility of utilizing 3D flight mapping and RTK mapping in forest areas was confirmed. In the future, it is expected that more effective damage investigations can be conducted if the three methods are appropriately used according to the conditions of area of the disaster.

RPM is the one of the sensor models which is proposed by Open GIS Consortium (OGC) as image transfer standard. And it is the sensor model for end-users using IKONOS, a commercial pushbroom satellite, imagery which provide about 1m ground resolution. Parameters called RPC which is IKONOS RFM coefficients are serviced to end-users. But if some users try to make additional effort to get rigorous geo-spatial information, it is necessary to apply mathematic or abstract sensor models, because vendors don't offer any ancillary data for physical sensor models such as satellite orbit and navigation. Abstract sensor models such as pushbroom Direct Linear Transform (DLT) require many GCPs well distributed in imagery, and mathematic sensor model such as RFM, polynomials need much more GCPs. Therefore RPC modification using additional a few GCPs is the best solution. In this paper, two methods are proposed to modify RPC. One is method to use pseudo GCPs generated in normalized cubic, and another method uses parameters observations and a few GCPs. Through two methods, we get improvement of accuracy 50% and over.

The establishment of Ground Control Points (GCPs) in UAV-Photogrammetry is a working process that requires the most time and expenditure. Recently, the rapid developments of navigation sensors and communication technologies have enabled Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to conduct photogrammetric mapping without using GCP because of the availability of new methods such as RTK (Real Time Kinematic) and PPK (Post Processed Kinematic) technology. In this study, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the potential of RTK-UAV mapping with no GCPs compared to that of non RTK-UAV mapping. The positioning accuracy results produced by images obtained simultaneously from the two different types of UAVs were compared and analyzed. One was a RTK-UAV without GCPs and the other was a non RTK-UAV with different numbers of GCPs. The images were taken with a Canon IXUS 127 camera (focal length 4.3mm, pixel size $1.3{\mu}m$) at a flying height of approximately 160m, corresponding to a nominal GSD of approximately 4.7cm. As a result, the RMSE (planimetric/vertical) of positional accuracy according to the number of GCPs by the non-RTK method was 4.8cm/8.2cm with 5 GCPs, 5.4cm/10.3cm with 4 GCPs, and 6.2cm/12.0cm with 3 GCPs. In the case of non RTK-UAV photogrammetry with no GCP, the positioning accuracy was decreased greatly to approximately 112.9 cm and 204.6 cm in the horizontal and vertical coordinates, respectively. On the other hand, in the case of the RTK method with no ground control point, the errors in the planimetric and vertical position coordinates were reduced remarkably to 13.1cm and 15.7cm, respectively, compared to the non-RTK method. Overall, UAV photogrammetry supported by RTK-GPS technology, enabling precise positioning without a control point, is expected to be useful in the field of spatial information in the future.
In this paper, as a prior study related to the generation of topographic information using the CAS500-1/2 satellite, we propose a method of extraction DSM for each 1:5000 scaled map in North Korea using KOMPSAT-3A strip images. This technique is designed to set the processing area by receiving shape file, only to generate output for every 1:5000 scaled map. In addition, dense point clouds and the DSM were extracted by applying MDR, a robust stereo image matching technique. Considering that the strip images are input in the units of scenes, we attempted to extract a DSM by processing and merging multiple image pairs in one 1:5000 map area. As a result, it was possible to confirm the generation of an integrated DSM with minimal separation at the junction, and as a result of the accuracy analysis, it was confirmed that the accuracy was within 5m compared to GCP.

Stone columns, locally called "GCP (granular compaction pile)" can be used to improve strength and resistance against lateral movement of a foundation soil like rigid piles and piers. Also installation of such a discrete column facilitates drainage, and densifies and reinforces the soil in the sense of ground improvement. The integrity of the GCP has been indirectly controlled with the records of each batch including depth and the quantity of stone filled. An integrity testing was attempted using crosshole S-wave logging. The method is conceptionally same as the crosshole sonic logging (CSL) for drilled piers. The only and critical difference is that S-wave should be used in the logging, because P-wave velocity of the stone column is less than that of ground water. The crosshole sonic logger does not have the capability to measure S-wave propagating through the skeleton of crushed stone. An electro-mechanical source, which can generate either P- or SH-waves, and a 1-D geophone were used to measure SH-waves. Two 76mm diameter cased boreholes were installed 1 meter apart across the nominal 700mm diameter stone column. At every 10cm of depth, shear wave was measured across the stone column. One more borehole was also installed 1 meter outward from the one of the above boreholes to measure the shear wave profile of the surrounding soil. The diametric variation of the stone column with respect to depth was evaluated from the shear wave arrival times across the stone column, and shear wave velocities of crushed stone and surrounding soil. The volume calculated with these variational diameters is very close to the actual quantity of the stone filled.
This study investigated the method for obtaining 3-dimensional terrain information on inaccessable areas by evaluating geometric accuracy of the EOC pass image and scene image acquired from the KOMPSAT-1 satellite. For this purpose, the following four experiments were conducted to evaluate the accuracy of the KOMPSAT-1 EOC satellite data. 1) Calculation of ground coordinates by using ancillary data and image coordinates on Level 1R that were processed by the pre-processing system of KOMPSAT-1. 2) Calculation of 3-dimensional ground coordinates from the ground coordinates of stereo images calculated by using ancillary data, based on space intersections. 3) Execution of bundle adjustment by using GCP (Ground Control Point) extracted in a part of the stereo pass image (KOMPSAT-1 EOC, 1 scene size); and then, evaluation of the ground coordinates from the calculated exterior orientation. 4) Evaluation of accuracy by applying the exterior orientation calculated from 3) To the whole pass image.
