Throughout this paper, we denote that R is a (right) near-ring and G an R-group. We will derive some properties of substructures and quotient substructures of Rand G.
We examine the observations of large-scale magnetic fields in the Universe. We begin at the largest scale with clusters of galaxies and work our way down through galaxies and finally to the Milky Way. on which we concentrate in detail. We examine the observations of the Galactic magnetic field, and their interpretation, under the philosophy that the Galactic magnetic field is like that in other spiral galaxies. We use pulsar data. diffuse Galactic synchrotron emission, and starlight polarization data to discuss the Galaxy's global magnetic configuration and the uniform ($B_u$), random ($B_r$), and total ($B_t$) components of the field strength. We find disagreement among conclusions derived from the various data sets and argue that the pulsar data are not the best indicator for large-scale Galactic field. Near the Solar circle, we find that the azimuthal average of $B_t$ is 4.2$\mu$G and we adopt $B_u\~$2.2 and $B_r\~3.6{\mu}G$. $B_t$ is higher in spiral arms, reaching $\~5.9{\mu}G$. $B_t$ is higher for smaller $R_{Gal}$, reaching $\~8.0{\mu}G$ for $R_{Gal}$ = 4.0 kpc. The pattern of field lines is not concentric circles but spirals. The inclination of the magnetic spiral may be smaller than that of the Galaxy's spiral arms if our sample, which refers primarily to the interarm region near the Sun, is representative. However, it is not inconceivable that the local field lines follow the Galaxy's spiral pattern, as is observed in external galaxies.
PURPOSE. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of silane and universal adhesive applications on the micro-shear bond strength (µSBS) of different resin-matrix ceramics (RMCs). MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 120 slides (14 × 12 × 1 mm) were produced from 5 different RMC materials (GC Cerasmart [GC]; Brilliant Crios [BC]; Grandio blocs [GB]; Katana Avencia [KA]; and KZR-CAD HR 2 [KZR]) and sandblasted using 50 ㎛ Al2O3 particles. Each RMC material was divided into six groups according to the surface conditioning (SC) method as follows: control (G1), silane primer (G2), silane-free universal adhesive (G3), silane-containing universal adhesive (G4), silane primer and silane-free universal adhesive (G5), and silane primer and silane-containing universal adhesive (G6). Three cylindric specimens made from resin cement (Bifix QM) were polymerized over the treated surface of each slide (n = 12). After thermal cycling (10000 cycles, 5 - 55℃), µSBS test was performed and failure types were evaluated using a stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed using 2-way ANOVA and Tukey tests (α = .05). RESULTS. µSBS values of specimens were significantly affected by the RMC type and SC protocols (P < .001) except the interaction (P = .119). Except for G2, all SC protocols showed a significant increase in µSBS values (P < .05). For all RMCs, the highest µSBS values were obtained in G4 and G6 groups. CONCLUSION. Only silane application did not affect the µSBS values regardless of the RMC type. Moreover, the application of a separate silane in addition to the universal adhesives did not improve the µSBS values. Silane-containing universal adhesive was found to be the best conditioning method for RMCs.
The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and the effects of near infrared lighted garments on thermo-physiological responses in human body. Seven healthy adult men were recruited for this study. All subjects were informed the contents and purpose of this study. The experiment was carried out in a climate chamber of $32^{\circ}C$, 60%RH with 'Rest', 'Exercise' and 'Recovery' period. The experimental garments consisted of briefs, undershirts(sleeveless), nightclothes, T-shirts, knee-trousers and socks. Subjects participated in two experiments, one was wearing near infrared lighted garments(NIR-O), the other was wearing regular garments(NIR-X). The order of experiment was randomized, and subjects wore experimental garments before 24 hours in order to benefit by near infrared light. Measurement items included rectal temperature ($T_{re}$), mean skin temperature ($\bar{T}_{sk}$), sweat rate, heart rate, oxygen uptake and subjective sensation. The results are as follows: As to the variation of rectal temperature and mean skin temperature, value of wearing NIR-X was higher than value of wearing NIR-O, indicating a significant level of difference (p<.001). Sweat rate under NIR-O and NIR-X condition were 575.35 g and 535.75 g, respectively. Heart rate value of NIR-X condition was higher than NIR-O. Oxygen uptake measured during experiment was the higher in NIR-X condition with significant difference (p<.001). In the subjective sensation, the value of NIR-O condition was higher than NIR-X condition without significantly difference.
Near-fault ground motions are characterized by high values of the ratio between the peak of vertical and horizontal ground accelerations, which can significantly affect the nonlinear response of a base-isolated structure. To check the effectiveness of different base-isolation systems for retrofitting a r.c. framed structure located in a near-fault area, a numerical investigation is carried out analyzing the nonlinear dynamic response of the fixed-base and isolated structures. For this purpose, a six-storey r.c. framed building is supposed to be retrofitted by insertion of an isolation system at the base for attaining performance levels imposed by current Italian code in a high-risk seismic zone. In particular, elastomeric (e.g., high-damping-laminated-rubber bearings, HDLRBs) and friction (e.g., steel-PTFE sliding bearings, SBs, or friction pendulum bearings, FPBs) isolators are considered, with reference to three cases of base isolation: HDLRBs acting alone (i.e., EBI structures); in-parallel combination of HDLRBs and SBs (i.e., EFBI structures); FPBs acting alone (i.e., FPBI structures). Different values of the stiffness ratio, defined as the ratio between the vertical and horizontal stiffnesses of the HDLRBs, sliding ratio, defined as the global sliding force divided by the maximum sliding force of the SBs, and in-plan distribution of friction coefficient for the FPs are investigated. The EBI, EFBI and FPBI base-isolation systems are designed assuming the same values of the fundamental vibration period and equivalent viscous damping ratio. The nonlinear dynamic analysis is carried out with reference to near-fault earthquakes, selected and scaled on the design hypotheses adopted for the test structures.

Near Infrared (NIR) spectra has long been used in industry to monitor rates of reactions via calculation of analyte concentrations. However, the kinetic information is inherent in the data through spectral ratios. Two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS) is a spectral method that is based on changes (e.g. concentration) in time and is therefore uniquely suited for reaction monitoring. This method is especially useful in the understanding of how the reaction(s) proceeds. We will show the application of 2D-COS to synthetic kinetic data from different reaction orders to illustrate the method. We will then show application to real reactions of various orders. Finally, we will illustrate how 2D-COS will be of specific interest to developing optimized industrial reactions.
In this paper, we address the problem of closely spaced source localization using sensor array processing. In particular, the performance efficiency (measured in terms of the root mean square error) of the unconditional maximum likelihood (UML) algorithm for estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of near-field sources is evaluated. Four parameters are considered in this evaluation: angular separation among sources, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), number of snapshots, and number of sources (multiple sources). Simulations are conducted to illustrate the UML performance to compute the DOA of sources in the near-field. Finally, results are also presented that compare the performance of the UML DOA estimator with the existing multiple signal classification approach. The results show the capability of the UML estimator for estimating the DOA when the angular separation is taken into account as a critical parameter. These results are consistent in both low SNR and multiple-source scenarios.

Two microscopic particles irradiated by light field influence each other by the forces coursed by the dipole-dipole interaction. The interaction changes also the resonance frequencies of the particles. We show that the dipole forces between atoms, molecules or dielectric particles irradiated by laser light play an important role at distances between the particles about or less the light wavelength. We discuss the properties of the near-field forces, including their dependence on direction and polarization of the laser light. We conclude that the near-field forces can be responsible for farmation of dimers in dense atomic gases. The near-field forces can be also used for control the motion of dielectric particles on micro and nanometer scale.

An anharmonicity is a fundamental quantity shaping the potential for stretching OH vibration in phenol and its derivatives. The phenomenon is examined both by experimental and theoretical methods. FT-IR and NIR spectra of series of phenols derivatives were measured in the range of fundamental and first two Overtones of $_{s}(OH)$ Vibrations in $CCl_4$ solutions. The electronic influence of substituents on the analyzed frequencies is discussed and correlated with $pK_{a}$ parameters. Ab initio MP2/6-31G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-31G(g,p) calculations of the potential for proton movement in OH group were performed. Equilibrium structures were also determined. The frequencies of fundamental and overtones were calculated by Numerov-type procedure. The results of calculations are compared with the experimental data. The best linear correlations were obtained for the results of MP2/6-31G(d,p) calculations. It was shown that some structural parameters are especially sensitive on substitution. The linear correlations were found between those parameters and spectroscopic data. The results of calculation are compared with available crystallographic data.
PCBs have been measured using GC-ECD, GC-MS, GC-ELCD, HPLC, TLC, NMR and Immunoassay. The analysis of PCBs using GC-ECD include the peak pattern method as none derivatization and the Perchlorination method as derivatization. This study was conducted to establish the perchlorination method with Sbcls from PCBs to decachlorinated biphenyl(DCB). The aroclor 1242 of PCBs was chlorinated and then, converted into the DCB which showed a single peak in GC-ECD chromatogram. The detection limit of DCB was 2pg. The quantification detection concentration of PCBs extracted with soxhlet was 0.5ng/g in the soil. PCBs were not detected in the suburban soil, but 174ng/g in the soil of industrial complex. Mean PCBs concentration of Shinchun stream at Kumho river and Jinchun stream at Nakdong river was calculated average 낙ngjg in 각e sediment. PCBs concentration in the sediment of Kumho river near 2-7km from conjunction with Nakdong river was average 154ng/g. PCBs concentration in the sediment of Nakdong river near conjunction with Kumho river was average 159ng/g.
