  • Direct torque control (DTC) scheme provides a very quick torque response without the complex field-orientation block and inner current regulation loop. DTC is known as an appropriate scheme for high power induction motor drives because it can be used at lower switching frequency There are a major drawbacks with the application of DTC schemes it is large current harmonics due to flux drooping in a low speed range. In order to solve the problem, the fuzzy variable switching sector scheme are adopted in this paper. A meaningful contribution of this paper is to propose a simple realization scheme of the fuzzy variable switching sector technique. Experimental results show the effectiveness of this proposition.

  • The use of neural-fuzzy system to model mesh seam welding is described in this paper. Conventional, automated process generally involves sophisticated sensing and control techniques applied to various processing parameters. Welding parameters affecting quality include the arc voltage, the welding current torch travel speed and the pressure and so on. The relationship between the welding parameters and weld quality is not a direct one, md' in addition, the effect of the weld parameter variables are not independent of the each other. The effectiveness of the proposed neuro-fuzzy algorithms is demonstrated by computer simulations.

  • We propose a new-focusing method for test handlers of compact camera module (CCM), The MMD (max-min difference) method is applied to calculate the focus value quickly considering the noisy output of CCM. Also, the fuzzy search method is applied to find the maximum focus value effectively. We design a fuzzy processor to control the lens position by focus values and brightness values, which improves the focusing performance in the sense of speed and processor memory. The proposed method is implemented by program and installed at the CCM test handler machines. The simulation results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • Autonomous speedsprayer operation was conducted using the developed FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller). Orchard image and signals of ultrasonic sensors were processed in real time. The speedsprayer was modified to be steered by two hydraulic cylinders. The FLC has two inputs, direction of running and distance from obstacles. The operation time of hydraulic cylinders were inferred as output of the FLC. Field test results showed that the speedsprayer could be autonomously operated by the FLC along with the image processing and the ultrasonic sensors. The ultrasonic sensors didn't contribute to the improvement of guidance performance, but the speedsprayer could avoid trees or obstacles in emergent situations with them.

Fuzzy Control Strategy for Damping Sub-Synchronous Resonance

  • Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) is a phenomenon that harms turbine generator shafts because the phenomenon induces sub-synchronous wavering in the system. In the study presented in this paper, a dynamic resistance bank is used to mitigate the occurrence of sub-synchronous phenomenon. A fuzzy logic controller using rotor speed deviation and its derivative as inputs is implemented to damp sub-synchronous oscillations more efficiently. An eigenvalue technique is used to analyse the stability of the system, and a simulation in MATLAB is conducted, based on the IEEE Second Benchmark, to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method under a 3-phase fault condition at an infinite bus. The time-domain simulation and eigenvalues are used to observe the proposed method's superior ability to damp sub-synchronous oscillation.

  • The Optimization has been performed to search an economical running pattern in the view point of trip time and energy consumption. Fuzzy control model have been applied to build the meta-model. To identify the structure and its parameters of a fuzzy model, fuzzy c-means clustering method and differential evolutionary scheme are utilized, respectively. As a result, two meta-models for trip time and energy consumption were constructed. The optimization to search an economical running pattern was achieved by differential evolutionary scheme. The result shows that the proposed methodology is very efficient and conveniently applicable to the operation of railway system.

  • In this paper a drive strategy of AC Servo Motor using Fuzzy method was proposed. Since the transfer function of the plant is nonlinear and very complicated, there are difficultly in driving the system with real time. The performance of out method is confirmed by computer simulation and experimental results. The high performance and high accuracy of the driving system. Fuzzy is designed and proposed.

  • In turning, the chip may be produced in the form of continuous chip or discontinuous chip. The continuous chips are dangerous to the operator and difficult to be handled at high speed machining. The signal of AE(Acoustic Emission) is found out to be related to cutting conditions, tool materials, test conditions and tool geometry in turning. In this study, the relationship between AE signal and chip form was experimentally investigated. The experimental results show that the types of chip form are possible to be classified from the AE signal using fuzzy logic.

  • In this paper, a fuzzy controller using thermoelectric for temperature environmental tester is developed. The new structure of fuzzy controller based temperature environmental tester is proposed and implemented to maintain a stable temperature and improve temperature change speed. In order to evaluate the efficiency, an experiment is setup to compare PID controller with our proposed controller. The experimental results, we proved that our proposed fuzzy controller has better performance than PID controller.

  • A driving system of a dynamic FOG compass with a stabilized platform is described. A stepping motor adopted as a driving motor is required to maintain a stable operation with constant speed and low oscillation for the proper operation of the FOG compass itself. The previous stabilization scheme operated on frequency-modulated supply is modified to include fuzzy control algorithm. The proposed scheme has advantages, particularly in the size, weight and flexibility of the driving system.
