  • Obstacle avoidance of underwater robots based on a modified virtual force field algorithm is proposed in this paper. The VFF(Virtual Force Field) algorithm, which is widely used in the field of mobile robots, is modified for application to the obstacle avoidance of underwater robots. This Modified Virtual Force Field(MVFF) algorithm using the fuzzy lgoc can be used in moving obstacles avoidance. A fuzzy algorithm is devised to handle various situations which can be faced during autonomous navigation of underwater robots. The proposed obstacle avoidance algorithm has ability to handle multiple moving obstacles. Results of simulation show that the proposed algorithm can be efficiently applied to obstacle avoidance of the underwater robots.

  • In this paper, we proposed the obstacle avoidance system using a single camera image and LM(Levenberg-Marquart) neural network fuzzy controller. According to a robot technology adapt to various fields of industry and public, the robot has to move using self-navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithms. When the robot moves to target point, obstacle avoidance is must-have technology. So in this paper, we present the algorithm that avoidance method based on fuzzy controller by sensing data and image information from a camera and using the LM neural network to minimize the moving error. And then to verify the system performance of the simulation test.

  • In this paper, a motion control algorithm is developed using a fuzzy control and the optimization of performance function, which makes a robot arm avoid an unexpected obstacle when the end-effector of the robot arm is moving to the goal position. During the motion, if there exists no obstacle, the end-effecter of the robot arm moves along the pre-defined path. But if there exists an obstacle and close to the robot arm, the fuzzy motion controller is activated to adjust the path of the end-effector of the robot arm. Then, the robot arm takes the optimal posture for collision avoidance with the obstacle. To show the feasibility of the developed algorithm, numerical simulations are carried out with changing both the positions and sizes of obstacles. It was concluded that the proposed algorithm gives a good performance for obstacle avoidance.

  • For the autonomous movement, the optimal pat]1 planning connecting between current and target positions is essential, and the optimal path of mobile robot means obstacle-free and the shortest length path to a target position. Many actual mobile robots should move without any information of surrounded obstacles. This paper suggests a new method of obstacle avoidment which is suitable in unknown environments. This method of obstacle avoidance is designed with a distributed fuzzy control system, and imitates a Potential Field method. A simulation confirms the performance and correctness of the obstacle avoidance.

  • In this paper, we proposed a fuzzy controller and algorithm for efficiently obstacle avoidance in unknown space. The ultrasonic sensor is used for position and distance recognition of obstacle, and fuzzy controller is used for left and right wheels angular velocity control. The fuzzification is used singleton method and the control rule is each wheel forty-nine. The fuzzy inference is used simplified Mamdani's reasoning and defuzzification is used SCOG(Simplified Center Of Gravity). The computer simulation based on mobile robot modelling was performed for the capacity of fuzzy controller and the really applicable possibility revaluation of the proposed avoidance algorithm and fuzzy controller. As a result, mobile robot was exactly reached in target and it avoided obstacle efficiently.

  • In this paper, the fuzzy neural network for the obstacle avoidance, which consists of the straight-line navigation and the barrier elusion navigation, is proposed and examined. For the straight-line navigation, the fuzzy neural network gets two inputs, angle and distance between the line and the mobile robot, and produces one output, steering velocity of the mobile robot. For the barrier elusion navigation, four ultrasonic sensors measure the distance between the barrier and the mobile robot and provide the distance information to the network. Then the network outputs the steering velocity to navigate along the obstacle boundary. Training of the proposed fuzzy neural network is executed in a given environment in real-time. The weights adjusting uses the back-propagation of the gradient of error to be minimized. Computer simulations are carried out to examine the efficiency of the real time learning and the guiding ability of the proposed fuzzy neural network. It has been shown that the mobile robot that employs the proposed fuzzy neural network navigates more safely with and less trembling locus compared with the previous reported efforts.

During talc motion, if there exists no obstacle, the end-effector of the robot arm moves along the predefined path. But if these exists an obstacle and close to talc robot arm, the fuzzy motion controller is activated to adjust the path of the end-effector of the robot arm. Then, the robot arm takes the optimal posture far collision avoidance with the obstacle. To show the feasibility of the developed algorithm, numerical simulations are carried out with changing both the positions and sites of obstacles. It was concluded that the proposed algorithm gives a good performance for obstacle avoidance.

  • In this paper, the method for navigation and obstacle avoidance of the autonomous mobile robot is proposed. The proposed algorithms are based on the fuzzy inference system which is able to deal with imprecise and uncertain information. The self-tuning algorithm, which adopts the simplex method, modifies the parameters of membership functions of the input-output linguistic variables by changing the support of these fuzzy sets according to the integral of absolute error(IAE) of the system response. The wall-follwing navigation and obstacle avoidance of the mobile robot are based on range data measured from the internal sensors(encoder) and the outer sensors(sonar sensor). In addition, the algorithm for the obstacle detection proposed in this paper is based on the expert's experience. Finally, the effectiveness of navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm is demonstrated through simulation and experiment.

It is the objective of this paper to develop fuzzy control algorithms using delayed time techniques to deal with moving obstacles randomly. This control method gives the benefit of the collision free movement in real time and optimal path to the pre-settled goal. The computer simulations are demonstrated the effective of the suggested control method in obstacle avoidance.

  • In this paper, we propose an obstacle avoidance technique in trajectory tracking of nonholonomic wheeled mobile robots. Input-output linearized backstepping controller is used in trajectory tracking, and repulsive type control input for obstacle avoidance is added to it. The added input is generated by fuzzy logic. And we do not add the two inputs directly but combine them via fuzzy logic, which determines the ratings of each input. Some simulations are performed to show that with the proposed algorithm, the mobile robot can track its reference trajectory even if there are multiple obstacles on the trajectory of robot.
