  • Fuzzy logic rule based controller has many desirable advantages, whih are simple to implement on the real time and need not the information of structure and dynamic characteristics of the system. Thus, nowadays, the scope of the application of the fuzzy logic controller becomes enlarged. But, if the controlled plant is a time-varying/nonlinear system, it is not easy to construct the fuzzy logic rules which need the knowledge of and expert. In this paper, an approach by which the logic control rules can be auto-generated using the genetic algorithm that is known to be very effective in the optimization problem will be proposed and the effectiveness of the proposed approach will be verified by computer simulation of the 2 d.o.f. planner robot.

  • The construction of rule-base for a nonlinear time-varying system, becomes much more complicated because of model uncertainty and parameter variations. Furthemore, FLC does not have an ability of adjusting rule- base in responding to some sudden changes of control environments. To cope with these problems, an auto-tuning method of the fuzzy rule-base is required. In this paper, the GA-based Fuzzy-Neural control system combining Fuzzy-Neural control theory with the genetic algorithm(GA), which is known to be very effective in the optimization problem, will be proposed. The tuning of the proposed system is performed by two tuning processes(the course tuning process and the fine tuning/adaptive learning process). The effectiveness of the proposed control system will be demonstrated by computer simulations using a two degree of freedom robot manipulator.

  • This paper presents the introduction of Pseudo-2 axes robot module and its GA-based fuzzy control implementation. Pseudo-2 axes robot module which use a single motor and controller for driving 2 joints of a robot mechanism, is devised towards a lower priced robot with its degree of freedom maintained GA-based Fuzzy controller is considered for the better control implementation of the developed system than the conventional PID controller. Here. the scaling factors of the membership function with high fitness values are selected using a genetic algorithm for a pulse-type input trajectory. The obtained controller also shows better trajectory tracking performance than a PID controller.

  • A semi-active suspension system for a vehicle using an Electrorheological Fluid damper has been studied. Apparent viscosity of ERF(Electrorheological Fluid) can be changed rapidly by applying electric field. The damping force of ER damper can be selectively controlled by employing electric field to the ER fluid domain. This paper deals with a two-degree-of-freedom suspension using the ER damper for a quarter car model. An intelligent control method using fuzzy control with genetic algorithm has been employed to control the damping force of the ER damper. The GA designs the optimal structure and performance of Fuzzy Net Controller having hybrid structure. The designed fuzzy net controller has been compared with the skyhook type controller for a quarter car model. The computer simulation results show that the semi-active suspension with ER damper has a good performance in the sense of ride quality with less vibration for ground vehicle.

  • It is an interesting area in the field of artificial intelligence to and an analytic model of cooperative structure for multi-agent system accomplishing a given task. Usually it is difficult to design controllers for multi-agent systems without a comprehensive knowledge about the system. One of the way to overcome this limitation is to implement an evolutionary approach to design the controllers. This paper introduces the use of a genetic algorithm to discover a fuzzy logic controller with rules that govern emergent co-operative behavior: A modified genetic algorithm was applied to automating the discovery of a fuzzy logic controller jot multi-agents playing a pursuit game. Simulation results indicate that, given the complexity of the problem, an evolutionary approach to and the fuzzy logic controller seems to be promising.

  • A fuzzy network using genetic algorithm is investigated in the context of control for finite dimensional nonlinear discrete systems. The proposed FN(Fuzzy Network) constructed to identify various parameter of fuzzy control is used for the nonlinear system control. Each of two FN, presented FN control system is based on a framework of closed loop control. A proposed FNN model trains using the modeling error and the closed loop error. That case study shows that the presented FN model and closed loop control system is very useful in practical sense.

  • In this paper a new approach to estimate scaling factors of fuzzy controllers such as the fuzzy PID controller and the fuzzy PD controller is presented. The performance of the fuzzy controller is sensitive to the variety of scaling factors[1]. The desist procedure dwells on the use of evolutionary computing(a genetic algorithm) and estimation algorithm for dynamic systems (the inverted pendulum). The tuning of the scaling factors of the fuzzy controller is essential to the entire optimization process. And then we estimate scaling factors of the fuzzy controller by means of two types of estimation algorithms such as Neuro-Fuzzy model, and regression polynomial [7]. This method can be applied to the nonlinear system as the inverted pendulum. Numerical studies are presented and a detailed comparative analysis is also included.

  • In this work, a fuzzy neural network is used to estimate the relevant sensor signal using other sensor signals. Noise components in input signals into the fuzzy neural network are removed through the wavelet denoising technique . Principal component analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimension of an input space without losing a significant amount of information. A lower dimensional input space will also usually reduce the time necessary to train a fuzzy-neural network. Also, the principal component analysis makes easy the selection of the input signals into the fuzzy neural network. The fuzzy neural network parameters are optimized by two learning methods. A genetic algorithm is used to optimize the antecedent parameters of the fuzzy neural network and a least-squares algorithm is used to solve the consequent parameters. The proposed algorithm was verified through the application to the pressurizer water level and the hot-leg flowrate measurements in pressurized water reactors.

  • An image segmentation approach based on the fuzzy worm searching and MIN-MAX clustering algorithm is proposed in this paper. This algorithm deals with fuzzy worm value and min-max node at a gross scene level, which investigates the edge information including fuzzy worm action and spatial relationship of the pixels as the parameters of its objective function. But the conventional segmentation methods for edge extraction generally need the mask information for the algebraic model, and take long run times at mask operation, whereas the proposed algorithm has single operation according to active searching of fuzzy worms. In addition, we also propose both genetic fuzzy worm searching and genetic min-max clustering using genetic algorithm to complete clustering and fuzzy searching on grey-histogram of image for the optimum solution, which can automatically determine the size of ranges and has both strong robust and speedy calculation. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm adaptively divided the quantized images in histogram region and performed single searching methods, significantly alleviating the increase of the computational load and the memory requirements.
