Design and Performance evaluation of Fuzzy-based Framed Random Access Controller ($F^2RAC$) for the Integration of Voice ad Data over Wireless Medium Access Control Protocol (프레임 구조를 갖는 무선 매체접속제어 프로토콜 상에서 퍼지 기반의 음성/데이터 통합 임의접속제어기 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy-based random access controller with a superimposed frame structure (F$^2$RAC) fur voice/data-integrated wireless networks. F$^2$RAC adopts mini-slot technique for reducing contention cost, and these mini-slots of which number may dynamically vary from one frame to the next as a function of the traffic load are further partitioned into two regions for access requests coming from voice and data traffic with their respective QoS requirements. And F$^2$RAC is designed to properly determine the access regions and permission probabilities for enhancing the data packet delay while ensuring the voice packet dropping probability constraint. It mainly consists of the estimator with Pseudo-Bayesian algorithm and fuzzy logic controller with Sugeno-type of fuzzy rules. Simulation results prove that F$^2$RAC can guarantee QoS requirement of voice and provide the highest throughput efficiency and the smallest data packet delay amongst the different alternatives including PRMA[1], IPRMA[2], and SIR[3].

  • In this paper, a NeuroFuzzy controller (NFC) with enhanced packet reservation multiple access (PRMA) protocol for QoS-guaranteed multimedia communication systems is proposed. The enhanced PRMA protocol adopts mini-slot technique for reducing contention cost, and these minislot are futher partitioned into multiple MAC regions for access requests coming from users with their respective QoS (quality-of-service) requirements. And NFC is designed to properly determine the MAC regions and access probability for enhancing the PRMA efficiency under QoS constraint. It mainly contains voice traffic estimator including the slot information estimator with recurrent neural networks (RNNs) using real-time recurrent learning (RTRL), and fuzzy logic controller with Mandani- and Sugeno-type of fuzzy rules. Simulation results show that the enhanced PRMA protocol with NFC can guarantee QoS requirements for all traffic loads and further achieves higher system utilization and less non real-time packet delay, compared to previously studied PRMA, IPRMA, SIR, HAR, and F2RAC.

Neural fuzzy control for a mobile vehicle

  • A neural fuzzy control strategy, developed in order to make a Mobile Vehicle(MV) run along with the traffic guidelines on the road, is presented. A neurocomputer is used in the control procedure and it learnt the driving knowledge to control the MV's actions. The image information of the guidelines is provided by a CCD camera on the top of the MV. The MV utilize the image information to identify the shape of the road and to decide the position of itself, and control the running actions. A fuzzy controller works on-line. Both of the neural controller and the fuzzy controller make up each other. This control method solve the problem of mechanical and electrical inertia and make the Mobile Vehicle run rapidly and smoothly.

  • The need for including time variables in various type of modeled Discrete Event Dynamic Systems(DEDSs) is apparent since the modeled systems are real time in nature. In the real world, almost all event is related to time. A Time Petri Net(TPN) is one of methods for model ins and analyzing of DEDSs with real time values. Two time values, ${\alpha}$$\sub$i/ and ${\beta}$$\sub$i/ are defined for each transition. In this paper, Ire present Fuzzy Transition Timed Petri Net(FTTPN) to determine the optimal transition firing time between ${\alpha}$$\sub$i/ and ${\beta}$$\sub$i/ using fuzzy theory. The traffic signal controller in an intersection is modeled and analyzed by FTTPN.

  • The current traffic signal control systems are operated depending on the pre-planned control scheme or the selected control scheme according to a period of time. The problem with these types of traffic control systems is that they can not cope with variant traffic flows appropriately. Such a problem can be difficult to solve by using binary logic. Therefore, in this 0paper, we propose a traffic signal control system which can deal wit various traffic flows quickly and effectively. The proposed controller is operated under uncertainty and in a fuzzy environment. It show the congestion of road traffic by using fuzzy logic, and it determines the length of green signal by means of a fuzzy inference engine. It modeled using petri-net to verify its validation.

  • Nowadays the traffic conditions have been getting worse due to continuous increase in the number of vehicles. So it has become more important to manage traffic signal lights efficiently. Recently fuzzy logic is introduced to control the cycle time of traffic lights adaptively. Conventional fuzzy logic controller adjusts the extension time of current green phase by using the fuzzy input variables such as the number of entering vehicles at the green light and the number of waiting vehicle during the red light. However this scheme is inadequate for an intersection with variable traffic densities. In this paper, a new FLC with asymmetric membership functions that reflects more exactly traffic flows than other FLCs with symmetric ones regardless of few control rules is propsed. The effectiveness of the proposed method was shown through simulation of a single intersection. The experimental results yielded the superior performance of the proposed FLC in terms of the average delay time, the number of passed vehicles, and the degree of saturation.

  • For measuring a traffic symbolic confusion quantity and symbolic air pleasantness, we use fuzzy sensor algorithm maded by symbolic information quantity. But for implementation of fuzzy sensor, we use some symbolic information item, this method cannot produce precise output because we use vague fuzzy rule method and we cannot abundance fuzzy for precision of fuzzy rule method. For this reason this paper introduce new fuzzy sensor algorithm composed of not fuzzy rule method but using Analytic Hierachy Process. To prove that new method is good, two type of fuzzy sensor applied to traffic signal controller and through much passing vehicle, two fuzzy sensor compared each other.

  • Due to continuous change in traffic and increase in traffic volumes at the intersection, efficient traffic control system is required to manage road situations flexibly in accordance with the change occurring every hour. In this paper, we study the control systems which will help us to determine the interva ls of intersection following the autonomous analysis of complexity of the road. Fuzzy logic control concept was applied to the fuzzy logic controller(FLC) for controlling traffic signal. Furthermore the fuzzy signal systems were compare with the regular signal systems to prove higher performance of the FLC presente d in the paper. By means of simulation, the validity of FLC was proven. About 6% increase in the efficiency of traffic control based on the proposed algorithm in this paper was when we use the simulation.

  • An arterial street control is performed for the purpose of the progression of a traffic flow using the arterial. However during the progression in the arterial, the change according to the time is one of the most representative problems occurring at a signal plan. This paper intends to efficiently operate the arterial progression by applying fuzzy logic, which is thought to be the most possible one in the inference as that of the human logic, to the traffic responsive control system. Fuzzy Logic controller is appliable to the daily human language (linguistic). can be dealt with the uncertain traffic data and is useful on planning the signal control to sensitively confront the randomly changing traffic condition. This study, based on the signal control part of the isolated intersection in "A Development of a Real-time, Traffic Adaptive Control Scheme Through VIDs"(Seong Ho. Kim. 1996). suggested the strategy for the progression control in the arterial and analyzed its effect by comparing the effect of the existing control method. In addition, the study compared each effect by using TRAF-NETSIM which is the traffic simulation software to analyze each control method.

  • This paper deals with modeling method and application of Fuzzy Discrete Event System(FDES). FDES have characteristics which Crisp Discrete Event System(CDES) can't deals with and is constituted with the events that is determined by vague and uncertain judgement like biomedical or traffic control. In general, the modeling method of CDES has been studied many times, but that of FDES hasn't been nearly studied by qualitative character and scarcity of applicated system. This paper models traffic system with FDES's character in FTTPN and designs a traffic signal controller.
