A Performance Study on the TPR*-Tree (TPR*-트리의 성능 분석에 관한 연구)

  • TPR*-tree is the most widely-used index structure for effectively predicting the future positions of moving objects. The TPR*-tree, however, has the problem that both of the dead space in a bounding region and the overlap among hounding legions become larger as the prediction time in the future gets farther. This makes more nodes within the TPR*-tree accessed in query processing time, which incurs the performance degradation. In this paper, we examine the performance problem quantitatively with a series of experiments. First, we show how the performance deteriorates as a prediction time gets farther, and also show how the updates of positions of moving objects alleviates this problem. Our contribution would help provide Important clues to devise strategies improving the performance of TPR*-trees further.

  • This study examines the history of string quartet performances and analyzes contemporary integrated performances to propose a new performance paradigm for future audiences. It examines past developments and audience interactions, and how modern classical performance can gain a competitive edge internationally through tech integration. Building on this foundation, a future vision is proposed for Korean string quartet performances, drawing from novel performances that are interconnected with their historical context. The study concludes that modern string quartets necessitate innovative and original performance directions that can be achieved through various technological integrations.

The Impact of Value Creation and Appropriation Elements on Performance (가치 창조 및 전유 요소가 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Companies must capture value for sustainable growth. Capturing value is a critical task for companies, particularly when operating own businesses and organizations or starting new business. The business strategy of many companies focuses on capturing the maximum value from customers and other stakeholders. Even though a wide range of studies on value creation and appropriation has been conducted in the strategic management field, most of studies are still conceptual and theoretical. Thus more empirical studies are required to suggest future-oriented value strategy. This study reveals the value creation and appropriation elements in the aviation industry of Korea. The purpose of this study is to understand the trend of value creation and appropriation in the industry. In addition, the relationship between the elements and firm's performance are tested. The firm's performance is defined by that past and future point of views. The sample were collected from Korean Air and Asiana Air. The empirical test shows that the elements of value creation-appropriation have significant impact on firm's performance. Further, the element of value appropriation to customer has a positive impact both on firm's past and future performance. Our results show that investors acknowledge a value-based strategy as a sign of stock valuation. The results of this test correspond with the earlier one, showing that maximizing customers value rather than shareholder value does deliver impressive returns. The finding suggest that companies need to change their strategy to efficiently manage performance. With the test results, we propose a value-based strategy to maximize firm's future financial and stock performance.

An Efficient Indexing Technique for Location Prediction of Moving Objects in the Road Network Environment (도로 네트워크 환경에서 이동 객체 위치 예측을 위한 효율적인 인덱싱 기법)

  • The necessity of future index is increasing to predict the future location of moving objects promptly for various location-based services. A representative research topic related to future index is the probability trajectory prediction technique that improves reliability using the past trajectory information of moving objects in the road network environment. However, the prediction performance of this technique is lowered by the heavy load of extensive future trajectory search in long-range future queries, and its index maintenance cost is high due to the frequent update of future trajectory. Thus, this paper proposes the Probability Cell Trajectory-Tree (PCT-Tree), a cell-based future indexing technique for efficient long-range future location prediction. The PCT-Tree reduces the size of index by rebuilding the probability of extensive past trajectories in the unit of cell, and improves the prediction performance of long-range future queries. In addition, it predicts reliable future trajectories using information on past trajectories and, by doing so, minimizes the cost of communication resulting from errors in future trajectory prediction and the cost of index rebuilding for updating future trajectories. Through experiment, we proved the superiority of the PCT-Tree over existing indexing techniques in the performance of long-range future queries.

  • Development of science technology, computer network and software technology has not only changed various areas of the society, but also brought rapid change in the condition and the way of performing war. Historical lessons learned from the war in Iraq tells that military capabilities corresponding to the new paradigms of war needs to be assured in order to preserve national interest and take victory in future warfare. Thus, the performance in the latest war in Iraq, the estimated performance in future war and the performance of war in the Korean Peninsula has been put together and analyzed to indicate the direction our force should be built and the structure to be improved. Under all circumstances and threats the military must defend our nation and territory. When war breaks out the military must perform it's basic duty to end war by decisive operations. As the saying is "To preserve peace, prepare for war," continuous increase of military strength and improvement of military structure corresponding to the change of national security environment and weapon system is necessary.

  • The performance of the construction project is to be evaluated within 60 days of completion, according to relevant laws. It evaluates cost, construction period, design change, re-construction, safety, etc. for each project stage. And the project owners are inputting the evaluation results of the construction work into the construction project information system(CALS). The post-evaluation result information entered in this way can be referred to in the basic design of the construction project by referring to the related contents if there is a similar construction in the future. And It can also be used to predict and respond to the required period and cost by analyzing the accumulated data. In this study, in order to provide reference data that can be used in similar projects in the future, the latest analysis methods are reviewed and the possibility of future application is considered. Accordingly, this study intends to focus on the construction cost part among the indicators such as construction cost, construction period, design change, and re-construction that are currently being dealt with in post evaluation.

SG&A Expenditures, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Future Firm Performance (판매관리비와 기업의 사회적 책임활동, 그리고 미래 기업성과와의 관계)

  • This study examines whether there is a moderating effect of corporate social responsibility(CSR) on the relation between sales, general, and administrative(SG&A) expenditures and future corporate performance. SG&A expenditures are decomposed into maintenance and investment components and the latter component is focused. Using 968 Korean firm-year observations with CSR scores in the KOSPI market for the period of 2012-2017, this study investigates the relation between SG&A investment component and future corporate performance and then the moderate effect of CSR on its relation. Main results show that the SG&A investment component increases the future corporate performance and the moderate effect of CSR on its relation is more positively explicit. This finding implies that the effect of SG&A investment component on corporate performance is differentiated according to the level of CSR.

  • While buildings in recent days become taller and larger, many problems occur during the management of construction. Particularly, as the vertical movement of manpower and materials during construction has become longer while the lifting frequency and load increase, the need for a good lifting management practice is also increasing. Therefore, this study presents a real-time lifting performance monitoring system that can store and manage lifting records for construction management. Through review of literature and preceding studies related to construction lift, the concept of lift planning and operation management was understood, leading to the development of a system to monitor lifting operation and performance information. This system enabled quick measurement of the lifting performance during construction phase while responding to changes in the project schedule. To verify this system, a case study was conducted in which the current status and characteristics of the sensing-based lifting performance were derived.

  • Recently BIM technology has been expanded for using in construction project. However its spread has been delayed than the initial expectations, due to the high-cost of BIM infrastructure development, the lack of regulations, the lack of process and so forth. In construction site phase, especially the analysis of current research trend about IT technologies, virtualization and BIM service, data exchange such as drawing, 3D model, object data, properties using cloud computing and virtual server system is defined as a most successful solution. The purpose of this study is enable the cloud computing BIM server to provide several main function such as edit a model, 3D model viewer and checker, mark-up, snapshot in high-performance quality by proper design of VDI system. Concurrent client connection performance is a main technical index of VDI. Through test-bed server client, developed VDI system's multi-connect control will be evaluated. The performance-test result of BIM server VDI will effect to development direction of cloud computing BIM service for commercialization.
