전압변동 측면에서 본 아크로 부하가 전력계통에 미치는 영향 검토 (Analysis of effects of the arc-funace on the power system from the viewpoint of voltage regulation)

  • Arc-furnace is one of the large loads in the electric power system. When the arc-furnace operates, it may cause a bus voltage fluctuation in the power system, because it consumes a lot of reactive power. In this paper, we simulated this phenomenon by using a PSAF program with on-site measured arc-furnace load. The simulated results show that the fluctuation of bus voltage adjacent the arc-furnace was varied from $4.3%{\sim}7.8%$ the normal voltage because of reactive power consumption by arc-furnace. Therefore, we expect this study will come into use as the basic information on the probability of the demand control

Strip Tension Control Considering the Temperature Change in Multi-Span Systems

  • The mathematical model for tension behaviors of a moving web by Shin (2000) is extended to the tension model considering the thermal strain due to temperature variation in furnace. The extended model includes the terms that take into account the effect of the change of the Young's Modulus, the thermal coefficient, and the thermal strain on the variation of strip tension. Computer simulation study proved that the extended tension model could be used to analyze tension behaviors even when the strip goes through temperature variation. By using the extended tension model, a new tension control method is suggested in this paper. The key factors of suggested tension control method include that the thermal strain of strip could be compensated by using the velocity adjustment of the helper-rollers. The computer simulation was carried out to confirm the performance of the suggested tension control method. Simulation results show that the suggested tension control logic not only overcomes the problem of the traditional tension control logic, but also improves the performance of tension control in a furnace of the CAL (Continuous Annealing Line).

  • High flowing concrete has not spread whole in the normal concrete structure, because it requires special quality control technique. Recently owing to the lack of natural resources and reinforcement of environmental standard, the construction cost of cement is rapidly increased. Also ready mixed concrete industry has gone through various economical difficulty as the manufacture cost of concrete is increased. So, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the qualities of middle fluidity concrete using the fly-ash and portland blast-furnace slag cement in order to decrease the amount of cement and resolve the problem of the quality control of high flowing concrete and the manufacture cost. The results of this study show that it reduces the amount of addition of superplasticizer and develope properties of concrete to the use the fly-ash and portland blast-furnace slag cement.

  • In this paper, back-propagation neural network is used to implement a controller for electric furnace. Although the dynamics of furnace is nonlinear and time-delayed and depends on the environment, the time constant is relatively large so that manual control based on human expert can have good performance. The input-output data of the manual controller are collooted and used as training data for neurocontroller. From simulation. we find that the neurocontroller has better performances than the conventional controller.

Power Quality Impacts of an Electric Arc Furnace and Its Compensation

  • This paper presents a new compensating system, which consists of a shunt active filter and passive components for mitigating voltage and current disturbances arising from an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). A novel control strategy is presented for the shunt active filter. An extended method based on instantaneous power theory in a rotating reference frame is developed for extraction of compensating signals. Since voltages at the point of common coupling contain low frequency interharmonics, conventional methods cannot be used for dc voltage regulation. Therefore, a new method is introduced for this purpose. The passive components limit the fast variations of load currents and mitigate voltage notching at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). A three-phase electric arc furnace model is used to show power quality improvement through reactive power and harmonic compensation by a shunt active filter using the proposed control method. The system performance is investigated by simulation, which shows improvement in power quality indices such as flicker severity index.

  • Pulverized coal (PC) has become an important auxiliary fuel in the iron and steel industry since the technique of pulverized coal injection (PCI) system was developed for iron making. Combustion efficiencies of pulverized coal in blowpipes and tuyeres under various operational are numerically predicted to recognize the performance with the locations of nozzles in a blast furnace. A variety of parameters including the pulverized coal quantities, oxygen amounts, inlet temperature of the tuyeres and mass flow rate of coal carrier gas are taken into consideration. Also In order to develop more efficient than existing coal injection system, this study applies a flame measurement system using a charge couple device (CCD) camera and frame grabber. And it has used algorithms of auto sampling from flame shape information and composed the device for location control of PCI. This study find to further improve the blast furnace performance by the control of PCI locations.

Development and Estimation of a Burden Distribution Index for Monitoring a Blast Furnace Condition

  • A novel index representing burden distribution form in the blast furnace is developed and index estimation model is built with an empirical modeling method to monitor inner condition of the furnace without expensive sensors. To find the best combination of index and modeling method, two candidates for the index and four modeling methods have been examined. Results have shown that 3-D index have more resolution in describing the distribution form than 1-D index and ANN model produces smallest RMSE due to nonlinearity between the indices and charging mode. Although ANN has shown the best prediction accuracy in this study, PLS can be a good alternative due to its advantages in generalization capability, consistency, simplicity and training time. The second best result of PLS in the prediction results supports this fact.
