As interest in functional safety has recently increased, application of functional safety standards has been required in various industrial fields. A functional safety standard is a document that defines functional safety-related activities required to prevent system malfunctions. All activities defined in this standard are required differentially according to the classification results calculated through the risk analysis and assessment of the system. In the field of domestic weapon systems, there is a manual for the development and management of weapon system software issued by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA ). This manual requires static and dynamic analysis of software for functional safety related activities. However, the manual does not specifically address the classification activity through risk analysis and assessment as required for the preceding activities. Therefore, in this study, we analyze the problems of the manual based on the representative functional safety standards, and propose improvement plans.

Tight integration of product design and process planning in the early design stage would make bigger impact as wider spectrum of design and manufacturing alternatives can be pursued and evaluated. Thus the development of systematic computer-based support for this integration is desirable. For this integration and process planning in the early design stage. the systematic method to synthesize shape of part from functional requirements is crucial. This research presents the methods of functional decomposition from overall function or product and synthesizing shape of part based on functional relations extracted from functional decomposition using planetary gear transmission system as an example.
This research aims to study the needs of the trail runners as trail running has become a popular outdoor activity, and give suggestions for high functional outdoor menswear design that can satisfy the needs of the highly demanding taste of runners. The design development is as follows: 1) The design had to be made of lightweight material and be easily packable in all situations, and 2) we also considered the ergonomic and compact fit for activity, 3) the functional location of high functional fabric, 4) the reflective use and layering system giving a wide range of outdoor workout time and 5) the trend in 2016 S/S active sports and outdoor wear. Based on the above elements, the men's outdoor wear design has been developed for trail running in spring and summer. The design development includes a total of 7 items. The design focused on lightweight, availability of packaging, "comfortability" and freshness in activity, functional suitability of location of highly functional materials and the layering system to protect body temperature under the changing environment. In particular, the layering system was implemented to provide ventilation, and it was done in body parts that released the most body heat. Therefore, mesh materials were actively used on the side panel, sleeves and center of the back piece for necessary sweat emission without any problems and ventilation for trail running.

Every design activity has a goal of satisfying a set of functional requirement. The commencement of a design, therefore, must have its foundation upon the identification of the functional requirements. Many of the design practices of the industrial examples can be categorized as design of small systems that are defined to have limited and fixed sets of functional requirements to be satisfied at all times. In the case of small systems it facilitates the construction of a knowledge-based system for a specific purpose to decompose the functional requirement and map ones in the lowest level into specific design features. When the number of design features is large, they need to be managed by groups. This paper suggests a grouping method for design process can be regarded as a series of selections of the predefined functional primitives according to the requirements and the preceding selections. An intelligent product design system for automatic transmission lever design is developed as an example.

In order to understand the buffering behavior of hygroscopic fabric under subzero conditions, microclimates of the wool and PET clothing system were measured and compared. Vertical type Man-Clothing-Environment simulator was used to measure the microclimate at the environmental temperature of -10$^{\circ}C$. Buffering capacity was quantified by calculating from the depth and width of the hyperbolic curve of the graph. Hydrophilic wool fabrics showed better buffering capacity at the transient state than hydrophobic PET fabrics; which is attributed to the heat of sorption.

To cope with the challenge from global market characterized by frequent changes in requirements, manufacturing enterprise should be able to promptly adjust its manufacturing system accordingly. Therefore, it is important to provide manufacturing system designer with an appropriate methodology to (re-)design a manufacturing system subject to requirements change. Axiomatic design theory focuses design activity mainly on functional consideration rather than physical, and has been known as effective especially in the conceptual design phase. This paper introduces an approach to apply the axiomatic design principle to manufacturing system design. It is shown that a new design solution can be reached quickly by finding design parameters for the added or revised functional requirements and thus achieving a set of functional requirements as well as design parameters that satisfy the independence axiom. Some illustrative examples are also given.

Colonoscopy is an important medical procedure for the diagnosis of various diseases like cancers in the colon and rectum. But it requires a lot of time for a doctor to acquire dexterous skills necessary to perform successful colonoscopy. Moreover, to many patients, conventional colonoscopy simply takes too long time. Therefore, some studies on the development of autonomous and more convenient colonoscope are carried out. In this Paper, we Propose a functional colonoscope robot system that has a locomotive function with a hollow body, a steering system, and other basic functions of typical conventional colonoscope systems. The concept and each component of the functional colonoscope system are described in this paper. In order to evaluate the functional performance of the colonoscope robot, we carried out in -vitro and in-vivo tests.

In this paper, we consider a service system with bi-functional servers, which can switch between the primary service room and the secondary room. A service policy is characterized by the switching paints which depend on the queue length in the primary service room and the service level requirement constraint of the secondary room. The primary service room is modeled as a Markovian queueing system and the throughput of the primary service room is function of the total number of bi-functional servers. the buffer capacity of the primary service room, and the service policy. There is a revenue obtained from throughput and costs due to servers and buffers. We study the problem of simuitaneously determining the optimal number of servers, buffer capacity, and service policy to maximize profit of the service system, and develop an algorithm which can be successfully applied with the small number of computations.
According to ISO 26262 (the international standard on functional safety for automotive industry), the functional safety should be considered during the whole automotive systems life cycle from the design phase throughout the production phase. In order to satisfy the standard, the automotive and related industry needs to take appropriate actions while carrying out a variety of development activities. This paper presents an approach to coping with the standard. Analyzing the standard indicates that the safety issues of the automotive systems should be handled with a system's view whereas the conventional approach to solving the issues has been practiced with focus on the component's level. The aforementioned system's view implies that the functional safety shall be incorporated in the system design from both the system's life-cycle view and the hierarchical view for the structure. In light of this, the systems engineering framework can be quite appropriate in the functional safety development and thus has been taken in this paper as a problem solving approach. Of various design issues, the analysis and verification of the safety requirements for functional safety is a key study subject of the paper. Note, in particular, that the conventional FMEA (failure mode effects analysis) and FTA (fault tree analysis) methods seem to be partly relying on the insufficient experience and knowledge of the engineers. To improve this, a systematic method is studied here and the result is applied in the design of an ABS braking system as a case study.
The present paper is concerned with the notions of Lipschitz and asymptotic for perturbed functional differential system knowing the corresponding stability of functional differential system. We investigate Lipschitz and asymptotic stability for perturbed functional differential systems. The main tool used is integral inequalities of the Bihari-type, and all that sort of things.
