A study of the methodology for the long-term preservation of electronic records : focus on the preservation concept (전자기록물의 장기보존을 위한 방안 연구 : 개념을 중심으로)

  • In this paper we explain the definition and component of electronic records, and reestablish the principle of the preservation. Also we discuss the conceptual approaches and requirements for long-term preservation in an electronic environment. The preservation in digital environment is to protect itself of record identity with the reliability and authenticity, and to ensure the accessibility of records. It needs to be periodical migration along with digital environment change for the long-term preservation of the electronic records. and to select software independent standard format. to ensure the integrity of electronic records along with this preservation strategy, process and relative information required for digital preservation are to record in the form of metadata. The preservation system is separated into four functional entities ; registration process, preservation process, access process, main record management system. Also, this article is conceptually to introduce the selection criteria of storage media, the security provision for the archive collections and the disaster recovery which apply to the digital archives.

Consumer Values Derived from Products by Consumers: Difference among the Four Types of Products Classified with Product Attributes and Visibility (소비자가 제품에서 추구하는 소비자가치: 제품 속성과 가시성에 따른 4가지 제품유형을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand consumer values derived from products by the contemporary consumers, as the meaning of a product is extended from the functional utilities to the mediums of fulfilling consumer values. Consumer values have been researched from the marketers' perspectives and, thus, the scales to measure consumer values tend to be too abstract and not always reflective of the consumers' perspectives. Holbrook's typology of consumer values is utilized and the products are classified into four groups according to the product characteristic of the utilitarian versus hedonic, and the consumption spaces of the indoor and outdoor. The findings are as follows. First, the values of efficiency, excellence, ethics, and spirituality are more likely derived from utilitarian products, while the value of play is more likely derived from the hedonic products. Second, the values of efficiency, excellence, and ethics are more likely derived from the indoor products, and values of playfulness, esthetics, status, and respect are more likely derived from the outdoor products. Third, the most frequently mentioned values are the efficiency, playfulness, and status. Fourth, the list of products answered as being representative for four types of products are short to include obvious products such as TV, mobile phone, computer, car, refrigerator, and MP3 player. Both the utilitarian and hedonic values are derived from TV, computer, and mobile phone, while the utilitarian value from refrigerator and car, and the hedonic value from MP3 player, digital camera, and game consoles. The results imply that consumer values should be carefully understood and reflected in developing new products in order to successfully fulfill consumers' underlying needs and requirements.

Design of a Nuclear Fuel Spacer Grid Considering Impact and Wear (충격과 마모를 고려한 원자로 핵연료봉 지지격자의 설계)

  • The spacer grid set is a component in the nuclear fuel assembly. The set supports the fuel rods safely. Therefore, the spacer grid set should have sufficient strength for the external impact forces such as earthquake. The fretting wear occurs between the spring of the fuel rod and the spacer grid due to flow-induced vibration. Conceptual design of the spacer grid set is performed based on the Independence Axiom of axiomatic design. Two functional requirements are defined for the impact load and the fretting wear, and corresponding design parameters are selected. The overall flow of design is defined according to the application of axiomatic design. Design for the impact load is carried out by using nonlinear dynamic analysis to determine the length of the dimple. Topology optimization is carried out to determine a new configuration of the spring. The fretting wear is reduced by shape optimization using the homology theory. The deformation of a structure is called homologous if a given geometrical relationship holds before, during, and after the deformation. In the design to reduce the fretting wear, the deformed shape of the spring should be the same as that of the fuel rod. This condition is transformed to a function and considered as a constraint in the shape optimization process. The fretting wear is expected to be reduced due to the homology constraint. The objective function is minimizing the maximum stress to allow a slight plastic deformation. Shape optimization results are confirmed through nonlinear static analysis.

A Study on the Analysis of Mission Reliability in the Combat System through SysML (SysML설계기법을 통한 전투체계 임무신뢰도 분석연구)

  • Mission reliability is defined by the probability of accomplishing the requirements task that were targeted in product development, and in the case of combat systems, mission reliability is an important factor that will determine victory or defeat, unlike commercial equipment. The mission reliability of the existing domestic combat system was calculated by considering only the physical connections of the equipment involved in the mission performance, but as the equipment becomes increasingly sophisticated and complex, it is impossible to determine the mission relevance solely by physical connection. Thus, in this paper, improved mission reliability was calculated using SysML, the system design modeling language, by taking into account the functional connection as well as physical connection. Based on this research, we look forward that the mission reliability of the combat system that will be developed in the future will be used as a verification material.

Institutional Roles of Korea Cadastral Survey Corp. in the Spatial Information Eco-system (공간정보생태계 활성화를 위한 대한지적공사의 역할)

  • This paper, at first, intends to develop a conceptual model of spatial information eco-system based on the related literature reviews. The basic requirements in constructing the model are also specified. Next, the functional roles and interrelationships among the actors constituting the eco-system are analyzed to investigate the major reasons of inefficient and unsmooth flows of value-added process of Korean spatial information industry. Especially, the Korea Cadastral Survery Corp.(KCSC), which has dual organizational characteristics of public and private entity, is analyzed to be positioned as the most dominant actors in the eco-system. However, the KCSC needs to be changed and challenged to re-establish the missions and institutional roles for upcoming network societies. Here, we proposed 4 future-oriented development strategies and action plans to promote the Korean spatial information industry and to activate the eco-system.

  • Since the creation of modern cadastral system in 1910's the cadastral system has been modified to comply with a new technical development and diverse requirements. However, the discussion on the directions for extension of cadastral records has been rarely addressed. In this paper it is proposed that the direction of extension cadastral records from the current a right focused perspective to an obligation and restrictions perspective based on the FIG Commission 7's Cadastre 2014 which is a future vision of cadastral system development. As the extension directions, a legal and technical perspective and functional extension for a role for land information publicity platform has been presented. Considering the extension directions an environment and disaster management field has been reviewed for an applicable fields.

  • Recent advances in embedded system technology have brought more dependence on automating train control. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware's safety, not so much systematic approaches to evaluate software's safety, especially for the vital software running on board train controllers. In this paper, we propose a new software tool to evaluate software safety for the train controller. We have reviewed requirements in the international standards and surveyed available tools in the market. From that, we identified necessary tests to meet the standards and proposed a tool that can be used during the whole software life cycle. We show the functional architecture and internal components of the tool. Our tool is unique in that it is a comprehensive tool specifically designed for software safety evaluation while other tools are not.

An Automatic Simulation Technique for UML State Machine Diagrams based on Abstract Scenarios in Sequence Diagrams (순차도의 추상 시나리오 기반의 UML 상태 머신 다이어그램 시뮬레이션 기법)

  • In an earlier development phase, the simulation technique is one of the key analysis methods for checking the correctness of system's functional requirements. In general, simulation is manually or randomly performed by executing state machine diagrams according to the requirement scenarios. Therefore, simulation is one of the most effort-consuming tasks. In this paper, an automatic simulation technique of state machine diagrams is provided according to the scenarios of the sequence diagrams. It is not easy to generate detailed simulation traces from sequence diagrams due to different abstraction levels between sequence diagrams and state machine diagrams. In order to adjust for different abstraction levels, state machine diagrams and sequence diagrams are transformed into LTS models and compositional analysis and transition reduction are performed. After checking behavior conformance between them, detailed simulation traces for the state machine diagrams are generated. These simulation traces are used not only for performing automatic simulation but also for assisting analyzers to reach a specific system state in order to guide further efficient simulation.

Accuracy of computer-aided template-guided oral implant placement: a prospective clinical study

  • Purpose: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the in vivo accuracy of flapless, computer-aided implant placement by comparing the three-dimensional (3D) position of planned and placed implants through an analysis of linear and angular deviations. Methods: Implant position was virtually planned using 3D planning software based on the functional and aesthetic requirements of the final restorations. Computer-aided design/computer-assisted manufacture technology was used to transfer the virtual plan to the surgical environment. The 3D position of the planned and placed implants, in terms of the linear deviations of the implant head and apex and the angular deviations of the implant axis, was compared by overlapping the pre- and postoperative computed tomography scans using dedicated software. Results: The comparison of 14 implants showed a mean linear deviation of the implant head of 0.56 mm (standard deviation [SD], 0.23), a mean linear deviation of the implant apex of 0.64 mm (SD, 0.29), and a mean angular deviation of the long axis of $2.42^{\circ}$ (SD, 1.02). Conclusions: In the present study, computer-aided flapless implant surgery seemed to provide several advantages to the clinicians as compared to the standard procedure; however, linear and angular deviations are to be expected. Therefore, accurate presurgical planning taking into account anatomical limitations and prosthetic demands is mandatory to ensure a predictable treatment, without incurring possible intra- and postoperative complications.

Exploiting an On/off-Chip Bus Bridge for an Efficiently Testable SoC (효율적인 SoC 테스트를 위한 온/오프-칩 버스 브리지 활용기술에 대한 연구)

  • Today's System-on-a-Chip (SoC) is designed with reusable IP cores to meet short time-to-market requirements. However, the increasing cost of testing becomes a big burden in manufacturing a highly integrated SoC. In this paper, we propose an efficient test access mechanism that exploits an on/off-chip bus bridge for the Advanced High-performance Bus (AHB) and Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus. The test application time is considerably reduced by providing dedicated test stimuli input paths and response output paths, and by excluding the bus direction tumaround delays. Experimental results show that area overhead and testing times are considerably reduced in both functional and structural test modes. The proposed technique can be a lied to the other types of on/off-chip bus bridges.
