In order to give pulp surfaces anti-bacterial functionality and photo-catalytic deodorant ability, functional pulps was made using a surface modification method with Ag nano-colloidal solution and $TiO_2$ filler. Hygiene paper was made with the specially modified pulp, and anti-bacterial and deodorant tests were carried out. The Ag nano-colloidal solution was coated on the surface of the pulp using the high pressurized gas phase squirt through the spray nozzle mounted on the hybridization system. The surface modified functional pulp was hybridized with the optimum ratio of $TiO_2$(fine particle) to pulp(core particle) under the condition of $6,000{\sim}10,000$ rpm for $3{\sim}7$ minutes in the system. The anti-bacterial functionality of the hygiene paper was confirmed by the halo test in which the formation of the clear zone around the hygiene paper sample was observed. The inhibition growth test using MIC bioscreen C showed the inhibition growth effect of the bacteria as the reaction time was increased. The photo-catalytic effect measurement of the $TiO_2$ for 4 hours of the reaction showed $50{\sim}60%$ of decomposition rate, reaching over 60% for 5 hours of the reaction.
The surface treatment effects of reinforcement filler were investigated based on the dynamic mechanical properties of mutiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/epoxy composites. The as-received MWCNTs(R-MWCNTs) were chemically modified by direct oxyfluorination method to improve the dispersibility and adhesiveness with epoxy resins in composite system. In order to investigate the induced functional groups on MWCNTs during oxyfluorination, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used. The thermo-mechanical property of MWCNTs/epoxy composite was also measured based on effects of oxyfluorination treatment of MWCNTs. The storage modulus of MWCNTs/epoxy composite was enhanced about 1.27 times through oxyfluorination of MWCNTs fillers at $25^{\circ}C$. The storage modulus of oxyfluorinated MWCNTs (OF73-MWCNTs) reinforced epoxy composite was much higher than that of R-MWCNTs/epoxy composite. It revealed that oxygen content led to the efficient carbon-fluorine covalent bonding during oxyfluorination. These functional groups on surface modified MWCNTs induced by oxyfluorination strikingly made an important role for the reinforced epoxy composite.

We have prepared polymer composites of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and ionomers (Surlyn 8940) containing polar segments and metal ions by melt blending with carbon black (CB) as a conductive filler. The resistivity and positive temperature coefficient (PTC) of the ionomer/LDPE/CB composites were investigated with respect to the CB content. The ionomer content has an effect on the resistivity and percolation threshold of the polymer composites; the percolation curve exhibits a plateau at low CB content. The PTC intensity of the crosslinked ionomer/LDPE/CB composite decreased slightly at low ionomer content, and increased significantly above a critical concentration of the ionomer. Irradiation-induced crosslinking could increase the PTC intensity and decrease the NTC effect of the polymer composites. The minimum switching current (Ι$\sub$trip/) of the polymer composites decreased with temperature; the ratio of Ι$\sub$trip/ for the ionomer/LDPE/CB composite decreased to a greater extent than that of the LDPE/CB composite. The average temperature coefficient of resistance (${\alpha}$$\sub$T/) for the polymer composites increased in the low-temperature region.
Macroporous silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics were fabricated by powder processing and polymer processing using carbon-filled polysiloxane as a precursor. The effects of the starting SiC polytype, template type, and template content on porosity and flexural strength of macroporous SiC ceramics were investigated. The ${\beta}$-SiC powder as a starting material or a filler led to higher porosity than ${\alpha}$-SiC powder, owing to the impingement of growing ${\alpha}$-SiC grains, which were transformed from ${\beta}$-SiC during sintering. Typical flexural strength of powder-processed macroporous SiC ceramics fabricated from ${\alpha}$-SiC starting powder and polymer microbeads was 127 MPa at 29% porosity. In contrast, that of polymer-processed macroporous SiC ceramics fabricated from carbon-filled polysiloxane, ${\beta}$-SiC fillers, and hollow microspheres was 116MPa at 29% porosity. The combination of ${\alpha}$-SiC starting powder and a fairly large amount (10 wt%) of $Al_2O_3-Y_2O_3$ additives led to macroporous SiC ceramics with excellent flexural strength.
In this work, carbon black(CBs)-embed multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) as conductive fillers for activated carbon(ACs)-based electrodes for supercapacitor were prepared by chemical reduction of oxidized MWNTs and CBs. The effect of CBs-MWNT composites on electrochemical performances of ACs-based electrodes were investigated as a function of CB-MWNT ratio. It was found that CBs-MWNTs composites were formed by the reduction reaction of the functional groups of oxidized MWNTs and CBs. It was resulted in the conjugation of CBs onto the MWNT having high surface area and aspect ratio, leading to the enhanced electrical properties of MWNTs. The electrochemical performances, such as current density, charge-discharge, and specific capacitance of the ACs/CBs-MWNT electrodes were higher than that of ACs/MWNTs and conventional ACs/CB electrodes, which was attributed to the synergistic effect of CBs-MWNTs as a conductive filler.
In this study, as one of the developing ways of the functional elastomer, improvement of the functionality of 1-Chlorobutadiene-Butadiene Copolymer(CB-BR) was attempt through curing reaction by moisture. The curing reaction of CB-BR was determined an use of $\gamma$-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane(APS) and $\gamma$-Aminopropylmethyldiethoxysilane(ADS) as a crosslinking agent with filler at so the uncrosslinked elastomer was exposured in the air and curing reaction by moisture in the air was studied. The results obtained are as follows. 1. APS was more efficient than ADS as a crosslinking agent for CB-BR 2. Optimum amount of APS for moisture cured elastomer was r=1.5(at the ratio of $[APS]/[Cl^*]$) also in case(r=1.5), elastomer formed after soaking $T_{72}$ had similar physical properties with elastomer crosslinked by sulfur and it was very good. 3. Uncrosslinked elastomer(CB-BR+APS+Silica) was easily crosslinked by exposure to the air, and the physical properties was also satisfactory.
This paper describes and discusses the employment of HMG pattern analysis to provide upper-motor-neuron paraplegics with patient-responsive control of FES ( functional electrical stimulation) for the purpose of walker-supported walking. The use of above-lesion EMG signals as a solution to the control problem is considered. The AR(autoregressive)parameters are identified by time-varying nonstationary Kalman filler algorithm using DSP chip and classified by fuzzy theory. The control and stimuli part of the below-lesion are based on micro-processor(8031). The designed stimulator is a 4-channel version. The experiments described above have only attempted to discriminate between standing function and sit-down function A further advantge of the this system Is applied for motor rehabilitation of social readaption of paralyzed humans.

This article provides an exclusive overview of the synthesized aragonite precipitated calcium carbonate and its applications in various fields. The last decade has seen a steady increase in the number of publications describing the synthesis, characterization and applications of calcium carbonate morphologies. Mainly, two kinds of processes have been developed for the synthesis of aragonite precipitated calcium carbonate under controlled temperature, concentrations and aging, and the final product is single-phase needle-like aragonite precipitated calcium carbonate formed. This review is mainly focused on the history of developed methods for synthesizing aragonite PCC, crystal growth mechanisms and carbonation kinetics. Carbonation is an economic, simple and ecofriendly process. Aragonite PCC is a new kind of functional filler in the paper and plastic industries, nowadays; aragonite PCC synthesis is the most exciting and important industrial application due to numerous attractive properties. This paper describes the aragonite PCC synthetic approaches and discusses some properties and applications.
Graphene oxide (GO)/carboxylated styrene-butadiene rubber (XSBR) nanocomposites with various contents of GO were prepared by a latex compounding method. It has been confirmed that the functional groups of GO and the hydrogen bonds between GO and XSBR are existed. It can be seen that the scorch time ($t_{s2}$), which is the measurement of incipient vulcanization of rubber, showed a delay after the addition of GO. Field emission scanning electron microscopy was employed to confirm the uniform dispersion of filler in the matrix. Indeed, with increasing fillers loading, the torque, tensile strength, thermal stability and crosslink density of obtained nanocomposites were improved. These results were correlated to the better dispersion of fillers through the rubber matrix.
In this study, We have investigated leaching characteristics of heavy metals for recycled plastic composites containing EAF(Electric Arc Furnace) dust & EAF slag. EAF dust & EAF slag used that is generated in the 3 steel-making compaines in domestic. The physical and chemical properties of EAF dust & slag was examined by measuring specific surface area. porosity, oil absorption test and chemical wetting analysis etc. Results of total analysis indicated that EAF dust, slag contained significant amount of hazardous metals such as Cu, Pb, Cd and Cr. But, In the leaching test of the recycled plastic composites containing EAF dust, slag by Korean Standard Leaching Procedure, composites shows much lower leaching concentration of heavy metals. It was concluded that the recycled plastic composites containing EAF dust, slag showed good physical and chemical characteristics. This means that the EAF dust, slag can be effectively used as a functional filler.
