Although both functional verification and performance evaluation are necessary for the development of effective and reliable communication systems, they have been often performed independently; by functional modeling with formal language tools and by performance modeling with professional network performance evaluation tools, respectively. Separate and repeated modeling of one system, however, would often result in cost increase and inconsistency between the models. This paper proposes an integrated model design approach in order to overcome this problem that evaluates the performance of a communication protocol designed in SDL with SDL-OPNET model conversion. The proposed technique generates OPNET skeleton code from Tau-generated C code of the SDL model by analyzing the relations between SDL and OPNET models. IEEE 802.2 LLC protocol was used as an example of model conversion to show the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed technique.
This study investigated the relationship between function classification systems and the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) functional skills in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Two hundred and eleven children with CP participated in this study. The Korean-Gross Motor Function Classification System (K-GMFCS), Korean-Manual Ability Classification System (K-MACS), Korean-Communication Function Classification System (K-CFCS), and self-care, mobility, and social function domains of the Korean-Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (K-PEDI) functional skills were measured by physical therapists or occupational therapists. All of the function classification systems were significantly correlated with PEDI functional skills ($r_s$=-.549 to -.826) (p<.05). Especially, K-GMFCS, K-MACS, and K-CFCS were correlated significantly with mobility, self-care, and social function, respectively. Using stepwise multiple regression analysis, we established that K-GMFCS, K-MACS, and K-CFCS were predictors of self-care skills (74.3%) and mobility skills (79.5%) of the K-PEDI (p<.05). In addition, K-CFCS and K-MACS were predictors of social function (65.9%) of the K-PEDI (p<.05). The information gathered in this study using the levels measured in the function classification systems may be useful to clinicians for estimating the PEDI functional skills in children with CP.

The defense system development process is a process of developing various systems that perform functions in various functional areas such as battlefield awareness, command control, force application, and logistical support. In other words, the defense system development process is a process of developing many systems simultaneously in various functional areas. Various systems developed through this process should be interoperable so that they can be integrated and operated in a joint warfighting environment. To successfully implement this, the US Department of Defense uses the Joint Capability Integrated Development System(JCIDS) for the defense system development, and within this JCIDS processes the Capability Based Assessment(CBA) methodology as its core technology. This CBA methodology transforms the mission activity requirements to functional capability requirements logically and transforms the functional capability requirements to system requirements logically also. Smart City is a city that improves the convenience and quality of life of the citizen by integrates various systems that perform various functions of the city and smarties various functional systems with smart services by using IT technology. In other words, defense system development and smart city development have a common feature of the process of developing many systems simultaneously in various functional areas. In order to address the problem of having to develop many systems simultaneously in each functional area, it is important to logically transform the various mission scenarios into functions and logically transform the functions into systems. Therefore, a joint capability integrated development system and its core methodology, Capability Based Assessment(CBA), can be applied to smart city development. This paper proposes a method for performing a smart city concept design method using the capability based evaluation (CBA) method.

To ensure PKI systems' reliability, the security for PKI systems evaluation is required. But, unfortunately, the systematic security evaluation and certification of PKI systems is insufficient. In Korea, Firewall and intrusion detection system's security evaluation and certification has been enforced, but research of PKI systems’ evaluation is insufficient. This paper provides a PKI system evaluation criteria. This paper specifies a 7 level of the functional and assurance security requirements for a PKI system. And this PKI system evaluation criteria provides a compatibility with CC(Common Criteria) and KISES(Korea Information Security Evaluation Systems).
Recently, not only domestic businesses but also overseas businesses are expanding development and investment in automated warehouses as domestic and foreign logistics environments undergo drastic change. In such an environment, automated warehouse systems are being rapidly changed, and automated warehouse systems equipped with diversified functions are being developed accordingly. But the assessment systems of developed automated warehouse system is at a standstill. In the present article, characteristics of the automated warehouse systems in diversified development and trends of technology were analyzed, based on which evaluation items of functional suitability and reliability were derived by referring to ISO/IEC 25000 as the international quality assessment standard to secure reliability of the automated warehouse system, and an evaluation model was developed through the derived evaluation items. Through the present article, evaluation standards of functional suitability and reliability to enhance quality levels of automated warehouse systems are considered to be secured.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among functional evaluation systems, the Selective Motor Control Scale (SMC scale), the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) and Activities of daily living in children with spastic cerebral palsy and to provide the foundation data about SMC scle for evaluation system of abilities of selective motor control in children with spastic cerebral palsy. For this, sixty eight children with spastic cerebral palsy were participated in this study. The children were evaluated by using the SMC scale for their selective motor control ability and by using the GMFCS and GMFM for their gross motor function. The activities of daily living were assessed by using the Functional Independence Measure of Children (WeeFIM). There were a significant correlation between the SMC scale and the GMFCS (r = -.485, p < .05). The good correlation between the SMC scale and GMFM was found (r = .482, p < .05). The activities of daily living were not a significant correlation with SMC scale (r = .019, p > .05). The SMC scale in practice will provide usefulness for assessment of abilities of selective motor control in children with spastic cerebral palsy.

This paper addresses the methodologies for manufacturing systems design. While a number of design methods are used in product or part design, methods for manufacturing systems design are rarely known. Two approaches, simulation and axiomatic design theory, are discussed with respective case examples. The usual purpose of using simulation is to identify the bottleneck of a manufacturing system or to evaluate its performance with the aim of configuring the manufacturing system. The simulation typically proceeds in steps such as problem definition, model building, numerical experimentation, analysis and evaluation. The axiomatic design method transforms customer attributes into functional requirements and repeats mapping processes between functional domain and physical one until a satisfactory level of refinement of the functional requirements and the design parameters is reached. Possible design alternatives are evaluated by applying the independence axiom as well as the information axiom.

Functional safety is part of the overall safety relating to the equipment under control (EUC) and the EUC control system that depends on the correct functioning of the electrical/electronic/programmable electronic (E/E/PE) safety-related systems. Since the complexity of the medical equipment is increased, manufactures have to obtain functional safety as well as basic safety. This study proposes a perspective for applying functional safety to medical equipment. The research is carried out with respect to overall safety life-cycle of functional safety and essential performance of the medical equipment. The relationship between functional safety and essential performance is identified centered on the safety function. The essential performance using E/E/PE systems is defined as a safety function of functional safety. This approach is applied to a ultrasound imaging system as a case study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between children's self-concepts and (1) types of functional family systems. (2) family cohesion and adaptability levels, and (3) the satisfaction of children with their current family systems. The subjects of this study were 347 middle S. E. S. children (168 boys, 179 girls) in grade 6. Analysis of functional family systems was by The Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales III(1985) of the Circuplex Model (Olson et al., 1979). The Self-concept Inventory (Lim Jae Leun, 1987) was used to assess children's self-concepts. The data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ and Pearson correlation. It was found that there were no differences in children's self-concepts by types of functional systems. There were differences in children's self-concepts by family cohesion and adaptability levels. That is, the higher the level of cohesion and adaptability the more positive the child's self-concept. The more the child was satisfied with his/her current family system, the more positive the child's self-concept. Children whose family systems were at a high level of family cohesion and adaptability were more satisfied with their current family systems.
