  • In this paper we invstigate the new additive type functional equation f(2x - y) + f(x-2y) = 3f(x)-3f(y) and prove the stability problem for this equation in the spirit of Hyers, Ulam, Rassias and Gavruta.

  • Let G be a group and $\mathbb{C}$ the field of complex numbers. Suppose ${\sigma}:G{\rightarrow}G$ is an endomorphism satisfying ${{\sigma}}({{\sigma}}(x))=x$ for all x in G. In this paper, we first determine the central solution, f : G or $G{\times}G{\rightarrow}\mathbb{C}$, of the functional equation $f(xy)+f({\sigma}(y)x)=2f(x)+2f(y)$ for all $x,y{\in}G$, which is a variant of the quadratic functional equation. Using the central solution of this functional equation, we determine the general solution of the functional equation f(pr, qs) + f(sp, rq) = 2f(p, q) + 2f(r, s) for all $p,q,r,s{\in}G$, which is a variant of the equation f(pr, qs) + f(ps, qr) = 2f(p, q) + 2f(r, s) studied by Chung, Kannappan, Ng and Sahoo in [3] (see also [16]). Finally, we determine the solutions of this equation on the free groups generated by one element, the cyclic groups of order m, the symmetric groups of order m, and the dihedral groups of order 2m for $m{\geq}2$.

  • In this paper, using the Baire category theorem we investigate the Hyers-Ulam stability problem of pexiderized Jensen functional equation $$2f(\frac{x+y}{2})-g(x)-h(y)=0$$ and pexiderized Jensen type functional equations $$f(x+y)+g(x-y)-2h(x)=0,\\f(x+y)-g(x-y)-2h(y)=0$$ on a set of Lebesgue measure zero. As a consequence, we obtain asymptotic behaviors of the functional equations.

  • In this paper, we determine the general solution of the quartic equation f(x+2y)+f(x-2y)+6f(x) = 4[f(x+y)+f(x-y)+6f(y)] for all x, $y\;\in\;\mathbb{R}$ without assuming any regularity conditions on the unknown function f. The method used for solving this quartic functional equation is elementary but exploits an important result due to M. Hosszu [3]. The solution of this functional equation is also determined in certain commutative groups using two important results due to L. Szekelyhidi [5].

  • In this paper, we prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of derivations on quasi-Banach algebras associated to the Cauchy functional equation and the Jensen functional equation. We use the Cauchy-Rassias inequality that was first introduced by Th. M. Rassias in the paper "On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300".

  • In this paper, we obtain the general solution and the stability of the multi-dimensional Cauchy's functional equation $f(x_1+y_1,{\cdots},x_n+y_n)=f(x_1,{\cdots},x_n)+f(y_1,{\cdots},y_n)$. The function f given by $f(x_1,{\cdots},x_n)=a_1x_1+{\cdots}+a_nx_n$ is a solution of the above functional equation.

  • By using an idea of C$\u{a}$dariu and Radu [4], we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of the functional equation f(x + y,z - w) + f(x - y,z + w) = 2f(x, z) + 2f(y, w). The quadratic form $f\;:\;\mathbb{R}\;{\times}\;\mathbb{R}{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$ given by f(x, y) = $ax^2\;+\;by^2$ is a solution of the above functional equation.
