In this study, a Cartesian-grid method based on finite volume approach is applied to simulate the ship motions in large amplitude waves. Fractional step method is applied for pressure-velocity coupling and TVD limiter is used to interpolate the cell face value for the discretization of convective term. Water, air, and solid phases are identified by using the concept of volume-fraction function for each phase. In order to capture the interface between air and water, the tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) scheme is used with weighed line interface calculation (WLIC) method which considers multidimensional information. The volume fraction of solid body embedded in the Cartesian grid system is calculated using a level-set based algorithm, and the body boundary condition is imposed by a volume weighted formula. Numerical simulations for the two-dimensional barge type model and Wigley hull in linear waves have been carried out to validate the newly developed code. To demonstrate the applicability for highly nonlinear wave-body interactions such as green water on the deck, numerical analysis on the large-amplitude motion of S175 containership is conducted and all computational results are compared with experimental data.

In this paper, we introduce a new method which is available for analyzing the throughput of the packet radio network by using the auxiliary Markov transient matrix with a failure state and a success state. And we consider the effect of symbol error for the network state(X, R) consisted of the number of transmitting PRU X and receiving PRU R. We examine the packet radio network of a continuous time Markov chain model, and the direct sequence binary phase shift keying CDMA radio channel with hard decision Viterbi decoding and bit-by-bit changing spreading code. For the unslotted distributed multi-hop packet radio network, we assume that the packet error due to a symbol error of radio channel has Poisson process, and the time period of an error occurrence is exponentially distributed. Through the throughputs which are found as a function of radio channel parameters, such as the received signal to noise ratio and chips of spreading code per symbol, and of network parameters, such as the number of PRU and offered traffic rate, it is shown that this composite analysis enables us to combine the Markovian packet radio network model with a coded DS/BPSK CDMA radio channel.

An analytical method to predict qualitative performance characteristics of the Stirling Engines in the preliminary design stages is investigated. Both the expansion and the compression cylinder are treated as adiabatic and piston motions are approximated as saw-toothed waves. Basic equations which were originally proposed by Finkelstein consist of mass conservation and energy balances for each adiabatic cylinder. The approximation on piston motions and physical conditions make it possible to divide an engine cycle into four fundamental processes. In each process, first, pressure can be expressed as a function of the crank angle by solving a nonlinear first order ordinary differential equation and other thermodynamic variables are determined in turn. Application of the cyclic steady condition to the whole processes can complete a cycle. Also, further analysis results in analytic expressions for cyclic work and heat transfer in terms of the engine parameters and thermodynamic variables at boundary points. The results are expected useful as a quick reference for the engine performances. Finally, the present method can be applied to the other adiabatic analyses on the Stirling Engines with piece wise linear piston motions, if mass variations are predictable.

To improve the adhesion of interface and dispersion of glass beads in the composite, HDPE filled with glass brads, we encapsulated the g1ass beads with polymer by phase separation method using complex coacervation in organic solvent. EMAA and EAA were used as the polymeric wall materials. The microencapsulation efficiency and morphology were observed by thermogravimetric analysis and SEM, respectively. And also we investigated the physical and dynamic mechanical properties of the composite as the function of the beads contents and microencapsulation efficiency. Compared with the composite containing non-treated glass beads, the decrease in tensile strengthe of the composites containing the encapsulated glass beads become markedly small, and about 30~40% Increase in tensile modulus was observed. From the results of the dynamic mechanical analysis, it was found that the adhesion of interface and dispersion could be improved upon encapsulation.

In this study, the optical properties of CaF2-Al2O3-B2O3-TiO2 (CABT) system glass doped with rare earth ion, that is used in various light devices due to its excellent luminous properties, were analyzed as a function of kind of crystal phases formed and size of crystals generated in the glass matrix. TiO2 was added to control nucleation and crystallization, and Eu2O3 was added to enhance the luminescence characteristics. DTA analysis was performed to confirm the heat treatment condition of crystal generation, and XRD and SEM anal ysis were carried out for the crystal phase change of nanometer size. As a result of the analysis, the luminous properties of oxy-fluoride-based glass were improved duo to crystallization of nanometer size, but was rather degraded when excessively large crystals were generated.

A better approach for assessing meteorological drought occurrences is increasingly important in mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change, as well as strategies for developing early warning systems. The present study defines meteorological droughts as a period with an abnormal precipitation deficit based on monthly precipitation data of 18 gauging stations for the Han River watershed in the past (1974-2015). This study utilizes a Bayesian parameter estimation approach to analyze the effects of climate change on future drought (2025-2065) in the Han River Basin using the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) with four bias-corrected general circulation models (GCMs) under the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP)2-4.5 scenario. Given that drought is defined by several dependent variables, the evaluation of this phenomenon should be based on multivariate analysis. Two main characteristics of drought (severity and duration) were extracted from precipitation anomalies in the past and near-future periods using the copula function. Three parameters of the Archimedean family copulas, Frank, Clayton, and Gumbel copula, were selected to fit with drought severity and duration. The results reveal that the lower parts and middle of the Han River basin have faced severe drought conditions in the near future. Also, the bivariate analysis using copula showed that, according to both indicators, the study area would experience droughts with greater severity and duration in the future as compared with the historical period.
Background: The impact of COVID-19 infection on workers' work function persists even after the acute phase of the infection. We studied this phenomenon in Japanese workers. Methods: We conducted a one-year prospective cohort study online, starting with a baseline survey in December 2020. We tracked workers without baseline work functioning impairment and incorporated data from 14,421 eligible individuals into the analysis. We estimated the incidence rate ratio for new onset of work functioning impairment due to COVID-19 infection during follow-up, using mixed-effects Poisson regression analysis with robust variance. Results: Participants reporting infection between January and December 2021 showed a significantly higher incidence of new work functioning impairment (adjusted incidence rate ratio: 2.18, 95% confidence interval: 1.75-2.71, p < 0.001). The formality of the recuperation environment correlated with a higher risk of work functioning deterioration in infected individuals (p for trend <0.001). Conclusion: COVID-19-infected workers may continue to experience work difficulties due to persistent, post-acute infection symptoms. Companies and society must urgently provide rehabilitation and social support for people with persistent symptoms, recognizing that COVID-19 is not just a transient acute infection.

In Korean AC power railway substations, SCOTT winding transformers are under operation to have a single phase power supply together with a phase angle of $90^{\circ}$ on the secondary side of the main transformer. In the case of an internal fault of the transformer, the transformer protection relay should be cut off on the primary side, the transformer should be inoperative to the external fault of the transformer or to the normal train operation. Reducing the malfunction of the relay through an exact fault determination is very important for securing a stable power system and improving its reliability. The main transformers are protected using Buchholtz's relay and a differential relay as the internal fault detection devices, but there are some cases of the main transformer operation under the deactivation of this protection function due to a malfunction of the differential relay. In this paper, the characteristics of the SCOTT transformer and differential relay as well as the malfunctioning of the protection relays are presented. The modeling of the SCOTT transformer protection relay was accomplished by the power system analysis program and the Comtrade file from 'A substation', which was used as the input data for the fault wave, and the harmonics were analyzed to determine if the relay operates or not. In addition, an improvement plan for malfunctioning cases through wave form analysis is suggested.
Titanium oxide films were prepared by RF reactive magnetron sputtering. The effect of sputtering conditions on structural and optical properties was investigated systemically as a function of sputtering pressure(5~20 mTorr) and $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio(0.08~0.4). The results of the X-ray diffraction showed that all films had only the anatase $TiO_2$ phase. At low sputtering pressure and $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio, the films had preferred orientations along [101] and [200] directions. As the sputtering pressure and $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio increased, the intensity of the 101 and 200 diffraction peaks decreased gradually. The microstructure of the sputtered films showed the fine grain size (20nm~50nm) and columnar microcrystals perpendicular to the substrate. With increasing the sputtering pressure and decreasing $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio, the sputtered films showed the more porous columnar structure. XPS analysis showed that stoichiometric $TiO_2$ films were deposited at 7 mTorr sputtering pressure and 0.2 $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio. The results of the X-ray diffraction showed that all films had only the anatase $TiO_2$ phase. Ellipsometeric analysis showed that the refractive index increased from 2.32 to 2.46 as the sputtering pressure decreased. The packing density calculated using the refractive index varied from 0.923 to 0.976, indicating that $TiO_2$films became denser as the sputtering pressure decreased.
Model was developed to predict the growth of Listeria monocytogenes in raw pork. Experiment condition for model development was full 5-by-7 factorial arrangements of temperature (0, 5, 10, 15, and $20^{\circ}C$) and time (0, 1, 2, 3, 18, 48, and 120 hr). Gompertz values A, C, B, and M, and growth kinetics, exponential growth rate (EGR), generation time (GT), lag phase duration (LPD), and maximum population density (MPD) were calculated based on growth increased data. GT and LPD values gradually decreased, whereas EGR value gradually increased with increasing temperature. Response surface analysis (RSA) was carried out using Gompertz B and M values, to formulate equation with temperature being main control factor. This equation was applied to Gompertz equation. Experimental and predictive values for GT, LPD, and EGR, compared using the model, showed no significant differences (p<0.01). Proposed model could be used to predict growth of microorganisms for exposure assessment of MRA, thereby allowing more informed decision-making on potential regulatory actions of microorganisms in raw pork.
