다단연소 기술 적용 전후 시멘트 소성설비의 NOx 배출 사례 연구 (Case Study on NOx Emissions from Cement Kiln before and after Applying Multi-stage Combustion Technology)

  • 시멘트 산업은 다양한 가연성 폐기물을 천연자원인 유연탄을 대체하는 연료로 사용함으로써 폐기물 처리 문제 해결에 기여하고 있다. 시멘트 제조공정에서 더 많은 폐합성수지 등 대체연료를 사용하기 위해서는 대체연료를 안정적으로 연소시키고, 특히 NOx와 같은 유해물질의 대기배출을 저감할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 폐합성수지 등 대체연료의 사용량을 증대시키면서 NOx와 같은 대기배출 유해물질의 발생량을 저감하는 기술의 하나인 다단연소 공정에 대한 사례연구다. 실제 시멘트 제조설비에의 기술 적용 전후 연료 사용량, NOx 배출 등을 비교하여 효과를 평가한 결과, 유연탄의 사용량은 38 % 감소, 폐합성수지 사용량은 122 % 증가하면서 동시에 NOx 배출량은 17 % 저감된 것으로 평가되어 다단연소에 의한 폐합성수지 사용 증대 및 NOx 배출 저감 효과가 유효함을 확인하였다.

커먼레일 디젤엔진을 이용한 바이오디젤 연료의 연소 및 배출가스 특성 (Combustion and Emission Characteristics of Biodiesel Fuel in a Common Rail Diesel Engines)

  • Engine bench tests has been done on a common-rail diesel engine with bio-diesel fuel to study effects of B100 and B20 on output power, fuel consumption and emissions. Test results show that B100 and B20 could reduce PM, HC, CO emission and smoke, but power decrease, fuel consumption increase and NOx increase obviously, B100 reduce PM and DS with $50%{\sim}70%$ and $80%{\sim}85%$ compared with diesel fuel, while B20 reduce PM and DS with $25%{\sim}35%$ and $30%{\sim}40%$. NOx of B100 and B20 increase $5%{\sim}20%$ compare to diesel.

  • The characteristics of engine performance with fuel injection system in D.I. diesel engine were studied in this paper A fuel injection system has an important role in the performance and emission gas in a diesel engine. In this paper, an experimental study has been performed to verify the effect of the performance and the emission gas with the factors such as diameters of an injection nozz1e hole, diameters of an injection pipe and injection timing in the fuel injection system. The authors have obtained the results that optimizing the factors of fuel injection system is siginificant to enhance the performance of the engine system and consumption ratio of fuel, smoke, and NOx.

The Effect of Water Emulsified Fuel on a Motorway-Bus Diesel Engine

  • In this study, the combustion characteristics and durability of a diesel engine using emulsified fuel was investigated. Water was used in oil type emulsified fuel. In order to understand the effect of emulsified fuel in a wide range of engine running conditions, D-13 mode was selected as a test condition, and a durability test was included to understand the long-term effect of water. Combustion pressure in a cylinder, exhaust emissions, specific fuel consumption, sound level and maximum torque were measured. NOx and PM were simultaneously reduced and the specific fuel consumption was increased and decreased at low and high loads, respectively. There was no trouble and any damage on the parts of the cylinder during a 500 hour durability test.

HSDI 디젤엔진의 연료분사계와 연소현상을 연계한 수치해석 (Coupled Simulation of Common Rail Fuel Injection and Combustion Characteristics in a HSDI Diesel Engine)

  • In this study, the coupled simulation of fuel injection model and three-dimensional KIVA-3V code was tried to develop an algorism for predicting the effects of varying fuel injection parameter on the characteristics of fuel injection and emissions. The numerical simulations were performed using STAR-CD code in order to calculate the intake air flow, and the combustion characteristics is examined by KIVA-3V code linked with the conditional moment closure(CMC) model to predict mean turbulent reaction rate. Parametric investigation with respect to twelve relevant injection parameters shows that appropriate modification of control chamber orifice diameter, needle valve spring constant and nozzle chamber orifice diameter can significantly reduce NOx and soot emissions. Consequently, it is needed to optimize the fuel injection system to reduce the specific emissions such as NOx and soot.

선박디젤기관에 있어서 바이오연료가 배기배출물특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions by Using Bio Fuel in Marine Diesel Engine)

  • 최근 지구 온난화는 세계 경제발전으로 화석연료 사용이 주범으로 인식하고 있다. 이러한 화석연료를 감소하기 위한 연구는 여러 대체에너지 산업으로 발전하고 있으며, 그 중 우리나라에서 생산할 수 있는 연료는 바이오연료이다. 바이오연료는 화석연료에 의해서 발생하는 환경오염 문제를 줄이면서 경제적인 이익을 주는 지속 가능한 연료이다. 그래서 바이오연료를 친환경에너지로 전환시키는 재생에너지 등에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 따라서 본 실험은 어선에서 사용했던 기관을 다시 리모델링하여 실험장치를 직접 제작 설치하였고, 여러 바이오연료를 사용하여 선박의 경제적이고 친환경적인 운항에 도움을 주고자 연구하였다. 유채유, 대두유, 폐유채유의 배기배출 물특성에 미치는 영향을 종합적으로 분석한 결과는 연료의 물리적, 화학적 성분이 비슷하여 선박용 엔진에 사용이 가능하고, 연료소비율과 NOx는 약간 증가하였으나, 매연은 많이 감소하는 경향이 확인되었다.

재생연료의 MILD연소기술 (MILD Combustion Technology for Recycled Fuel)

  • Optimum operation conditions of low-NOx MILD combustion for gaseous and solid fuels have been investigated by experimental and computer simulation. Loop reactor type MILD combustor without air pre-heater has been used in the present work. The results show that the balance of injection velocities of fuel and surrounding air is major factor for maintaining MILD combustion mode. Temperature difference between lower and upper part can be reduced less than 20 degree of Celsius. It was found that NOx emission in MILD combustion also can be remarkably reduced to more than 85% in comparison with conventional premixed combustion, and reduced to more than 50% in case of nitrogen and carbon dioxide carrying dried waste water sludge and pulverized coal in comparison with the same of air carrying. It was also found that carbon monoxide emission increase was not appeared at the time of changeover to MILD combustion mode from premixed or air carrying combustion at optimum operation condition.

디젤기관에서 CNG혼소에 의한 배출가스 저감에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Emission Reduction of Duel-Fuel Engine by CNG)

  • CNG dual fuel engine for heavy duty diesel engine has been equipped to a Korean bus engine and tested to compare th engine performance and the emission characteristics with the existing diesel fueled engine. The results are summarized as follows. Diesel fueled engine has the fuel injection timing of BTDC17°. The injection timing of CNG modified engine is retarded to BTDC14° for reduction of NOx. Performance optimization has been carried out to have engine power equivalent to or better than the diesel fueled engine. Smoke is decreased by 85% by Korean smoke 3 mode test. By 6 mode test CO is increased by 313% and THC is increased by 1407%. NOx is decreased by 27%. Even though THC is increased very much, it's not too serious problem since CO and THC emission of diesel engine are very little compared to gasoline engine and THC don't give bad effect on human health. But the reduction technologies of CO and THC need to be considered.

  • 연소 중에 발생하는 주요 공해물질 중의 하나가 질소산화물(NOx)이며 석탄의 연소에서는 타 연료를 사용하는 연소와 비교하여 많은 양의 질소산화물이 생성된다. 이러한 현상은 석탄에 결합되어있는 연료 중 질소(fuel-N)의 산화에 기인한 것이다. 석탄 연소 시 fuel-N에 의하여 생성되는 질소산화물은 전체 질소산화물의 75%이상, 때에 따라서는 95%까지 점하는 결과를 보여 준다.(중략)

Effect of the Intake Valve Opening Timings and Fuel Injection Pressures on the Exhaust Emission Characteristics of a Gasoline Engine at Part Load Condition

  • This work has investigated the exhaust emissions such as Total Hydrocarbon (THC), Nitrogen Oxides(NOx), and Particulate Matter (PM) characteristics emitted from the tail-pipe of a continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) gasoline-fueled engine with different intake valve opening timings and injection pressures at the part load condition. Valve overlap period was varied from $40^{\circ}CA$ to $10^{\circ}CA$ and fuel injection pressure was increased from 3.5 bar to 5.0 bar. THC and NOx emissions decreased as intake valve opening timing was advanced regardless of fuel injection pressure. When the fuel was injected with the condition of 5.0 bar at all of valve overlap ranges, THC levels were reduced by 55%. NOx concentrations were diminished about 75% as valve overlap increased. PM size distributions were analyzed as bi-modal type of the nucleation and accumulation mode. Comparing with fuel injection pressures, PM emission levels were decreased at high pressure injection of 5.0 bar condition.
