연료 주입형 마찰 조정제가 엔진 마찰 및 연비에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study for the Effect of Friction Modifier Added in Fuel on the Engine Friction and Fuel Economy)

  • This paper reports on the effect of fuel additive friction modifier on the engine friction and fuel consumption. The test of engine friction and fuel consumption is performed for the each oils and fuels. The TFA4724 friction modifier is added in test oil and fuel. The test results show that total engine friction is a decrease of 0.7-2.0% compared with base fuel, and fuel consumption is improved by 0.3%. The amount of friction reduction corresponds to that of boundary friction loss term in ring-pack friction losses. From the results, it is thought that the additive friction modifier in the fuel is effective to reduce the boundary friction in ring-pack.

  • 최근의 차량 연비는 환경 규제 및 고가의 연료 가격으로 인하여 중요한 문제로 대두되었다. 연비 향상을 위한 기술 개발은 엔진, 파워트레인 등 차량의 많은 구성품들의 성능을 개선하였다. 따라서 연비는 많이 향상 되었으나 연비 측정은 현재도 주어진 모드(LA-4, FTP-75 등)에서 컴퓨터 모의시험 및 다이나모에서 수행한다. 본 논문에서는 실제 도로의 연비 향상 방안을 도출하기 위하여 약 213Km 영동고속도로를 제안하는 3가지 다른 알고리즘으로 모의 주행하였다. 이를 위해 GPS 수신 데이터 중에서 거리와 고도 데이터를 추출하여 각 구간의 경사도, 주행저항을 계산, 알고리즘에 따른 속도 프로파일을 약 213Km 전 구간에 대해서 완성하였다. 이 속도 프로파일로 컴퓨터를 이용한 AVL Cruise 프로그램으로 모의 주행하여 연비를 산출하고 Eco-driving 방안을 제안한다.

승용차 도심 주행패턴에 의한 연비 성능 분석 (A Study on the Fuel Economy based on the Driving Patterns for Passenger Car in the Metropolitan Area)

  • There are a lot of factors influencing on the automobile fuel economy such as average speed, average acceleration, acceleration sum per kilometer, and so on. In this study, various driving data were recorded during road tests. The accumulated road test mileage in Seoul metropolitan area is around 1,300 kilometers. The data were analyzed by multivariate statistical techniques including correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. The analyzed results show that the average trip time per kilometer is one of the most important factors to fuel consumption and the increase of the average speed is desirable for reducing emissions and fuel consumption.

동력 조향계 최적화에 의한 연비 개선 (Fuel Consuming Reduction by Power Steering System Optimization)

  • This paper deals with energy-saving effort in the hydraulic power steering system. Commonly, the hydraulic power steering systems are used for passenger cars and the reduction of pumping loss under non-steering condition is important to improve fuel economy. Experiments and simulations are performed simultaneously to examine the main factors to reduce the pumping loss-pressure loss and flow rate of the power steering systems. Fuel economy effect of the optimal design of power steering system is verified by vehicle test - more than 1% fuel consuming reduction is attained.

  • This paper presents a split cooling system for a new inline 4-cylinder automotive engine. The split cooling system circulates coolant to the cylinder head and cylinder block separately. The coolant flow in the cylinder block is controlled by a $2^{nd}$ Thermostat installed at the outlet of cylinder block. The $2^{nd}$ thermostat closes when the coolant temperature is low. And this makes the coolant flow in cylinder block nearly stagnant, thereby reducing the coolant-side heat transfer coefficient and raising cylinder bore temperature. The $2^{nd}$ thermostat starts to open when the coolant temperature reaches a specified temperature. The test results on engine dynamometer show improved fuel economy and lower exhaust emission which result from the decrease in friction works and cooling loss. Also, several vehicle tests, with application of the new engine have been performed. Fuel economy improvement of 0.5{\sim}2.0%$ yields from different test modes and details are discussed in this paper.

  • Surely fuel economy(F.E.) label is needed to meet consumer's right to know. Korea has developed and adopted F.E. correction equation similar to the feeling, because consumer complain about F.E. label higher than they feel. Recently, through continuous research and development high-efficiency & performance green car like HEV, PHEV and EV are being sold. In this situation, it is needed to know whether the current equation can reflect a part of their improved technic or not. In this paper, to review current equation through test using hybrid vehicles on 5-cycle SOC, correction equation and F.E were discussed. The result show HEV didn't meet the SOC error standard on US06. Also, HEV has bigger F.E. difference between FTP-75 and 5-cycle than conventional vehicles. However, the correction equation that include HEV almost same with current one.

  • 지구 온난화의 영향으로 차량 연비 향상은 매우 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 경사를 갖는 고속도로를 주행하면서 차량 전방의 고도 데이터를 이용하여 주행속도를 예측하는 3가지 연비 향상 알고리즘을 제안하고 성능을 평가했다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 가중평균경사각(WMGA), 하강 경사에서 감속 후 재가속 I, II(RAADE I, II) 3가지이다. 이를 위해 GPS 수신 데이터 중에서 거리와 고도 데이터를 추출하여 각 구간의 경사도와 주행저항을 계산한다. 제안하는 3가지 알고리즘에 대한 속도 프로파일을 약 213Km 영동고속도로 전 구간에 대해서 완성하여 모의 주행하여 연비를 측정한다. 그 결과 제안하는 알고리즘 중에서 RAADE II 알고리즘이 기존 CVELCONT3 알고리즘 연비 대비 약 3.571% 우수한 결과를 얻었다.

Impacts of Burnup-Dependent Swelling of Metallic Fuel on the Performance of a Compact Breed-and-Burn Fast Reactor

  • The U-Zr or U-TRU-Zr cylindrical metallic fuel slug used in fast reactors is known to swell significantly and to grow during irradiation. In neutronics simulations of metallic-fueled fast reactors, it is assumed that the slug has swollen and contacted cladding, and the bonding sodium has been removed from the fuel region. In this research, a realistic burnup-dependent fuel-swelling simulation was performed using Monte Carlo code McCARD for a single-batch compact sodium-cooled breed-and-burn reactor by considering the fuel-swelling behavior reported from the irradiation test results in EBR-II. The impacts of the realistic burnup-dependent fuel swelling are identified in terms of the reactor neutronics performance, such as core lifetime, conversion ratio, axial power distribution, and local burnup distributions. It was found that axial fuel growth significantly deteriorated the neutron economy of a breed-and-burn reactor and consequently impaired its neutronics performance. The bonding sodium also impaired neutron economy, because it stayed longer in the blanket region until the fuel slug reached 2% burnup.

가솔린, LPG, 디젤 차량에서 윤활유에 따른 배출가스 및 입자상물질 (Exhaust Gas Emission and Particulate Matter (PM) from Gasoline, LPG and Diesel Vehicle Using Different Engine Oil)

  • This study effect of engine oils on regulated fuel economy and emissions including particulate matter (PM) to provide basic data for management of engine oil in vehicles. Three engine oils (Group III base oil, Group III genuine oil with additive package and synthetic oil with poly alpha olefins (PAOs)) were used in one gasoline, one LPG(liquefied petroleum gas) and two diesel vehicles. In the case of diesel vehicles, one is a diesel vehicle without DPF (diesel particulate filter) other is a diesel vehicle with DPF. In this study, the US EPA emission test cycle FTP-75, representing city driving, was used. HORIBA, PIERBURG, and AVL gas analyzers were used to measure the fuel economy and regulated emissions such as CO, NOx, and THC. The number of PM was measured using a PPS (pegasor particle sensor). And, the shape of PMs was analyzed by SEM (scanning electron microscope). The effects of oil type on fuel economy, exhaust gas, and PM were not significant because engine oil consumption by evaporation and combustion in the cylinder is very tiny. Fuel and vehicle type were dominant factors in fuel economy and emissions. HC emission from gasoline vehicles was higher than that from other vehicles and NOx emission from diesel vehicles was higher than that from other vehicles. The number of PM was not affected by the engine oil, but by the driving pattern and fuel. The shapes of the PM, sampled from each vehicle using any test engine oil, were similar.

국내 표준연료(휘발유) 도입 필요성 검토 연구 (A feasibility study on Introducing the Reference Fuel(Gasoline) for Testing Vehicles in South Korea)

  • 2015년 기준 자동차 등록대수는 약 2,100만대를 넘어 1가구당 1.07대를 보유하고 있는 실정이나[1], 국내 자동차용 표준연료에 대한 기준은 부재한 상황이다. 자동차용 표준연료(reference fuel)는 차량의 연비와 배출가스를 인증하거나 새로운 자동차를 개발할 때 차량의 성능 등을 평가하기 위해 사용하는 연료를 의미한다. 현재 국내에는 차량의 배출가스, 성능, 연비시험 등을 위해 유통연료를 사용하고 있으며, 유통연료는 석유 및 석유대체연료사업법과 대기환경보전법 상의 품질기준을 만족하지만 각 제조사의 원료와 공정 등에 따라 연료의 물성차이가 있어 차량 시험 시 편차가 발생할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 유통되는 휘발유 품질모니터링 분석결과를 바탕으로 표준연료 기준(안)을 설정하고, GDI와 MPI 연료 분사 방식의 차량에 적용하여 비교 평가한 결과, 실제 유통연료를 사용했을 때 최대 3.8%까지 발생하는 연비차이가 1.1%까지 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다.
