영농활동으로 인한 산불발생 특성 (Forest Fire Ignition Patterns Caused by Farming Activities)

  • 영농으로 인한 산불발생 건수는 최근 10년간 입산자실화 다음으로 많은 비중을 차지하는 원인이다. 따라서 이러한 산불발생 특성을 구명하기 위해 2009년에 발생한 산불 중 원인이 논 밭두렁 소각과 쓰레기 소각으로 분류된 74건을 현장 조사하였다. 조사결과 발화원인은 영농쓰레기 소각이 25건으로 가장 많았으며, 영농부산물 소각, 생활쓰레기 소각, 논 밭두렁 소각 순이었다. 발화지에서 산림까지 사이에 위치하여 불을 전달하는 전이지대 종류는 묵밭 묘지, 밭 과수원, 밭두렁 묵밭으로 대부분이 밭을 통해 산림으로 전이됨을 알 수 있었다. 발화지에서 산림까지의 평균거리는 19m이었으며, 최대 130m 떨어진 지점에서도 산불로 전이되어 현재 소각금지 기준인 산림인접지 100m 거리까지는 산불 발생 위험성이 상존함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 혐기성 회분식 반응조를 이용하여 다양한 유기성 폐기물의 에너지화 가능성을 평가하기 위하여 수소발생 특성을 평가하였다. 본 연구에서 채소류는 파, 과일류는 사과, 곡류는 쌀밥 그리고 육류로는 돼지고기를 사용하였다. 파, 사과, 쌀밥 및 돼지고기의 최종 수소 수율은 각각 0.46, 0.47, 0.62 및 $0.05mol\;H_2/mol\;hexose$로 나타났다. 수소 발생율은 파, 사과, 쌀밥 및 돼지고기에서 각각 0.013, 0.021, 0.014 및 $0.005mol\;H_2/mol\;hexose/h$로 평가되었다. 따라서 돼지고기를 제외한 음식폐기물의 혐기성 수소 발효는 재생에너지 생산뿐만 아니라, 유기물의 제거에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 휘발성 지방산은 수리학적 체류시간이 증가함에 따라 높게 발생되는 것으로 나타났다. 수소 발효시 산발효 효율은 쌀밥이 75.8%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 돼지고기는 35.2%로 가장 낮게 나타났다.

  • 느타리버섯 병재배용 재료중 비트펄프를 대체하기 위해 열매탈과팜이삭(PEFB)를 6, 8 mm 형태의 펠렛으로 성형한 후 첨가비율을 달리하여 5개의 처리구로 나누어 느타리버섯을 재배한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 수한1호의 경우, T1 78.8 g, T2 90.6 g, T3 76.0 g, T4 88.6 g, T5 55.4 g으로 대조구인 T1보다 T2, T4처리구에서 수량이 많았다. 춘추계통의 김제5호의 경우, T1 111.6 g, T2 139.8 g, T3 133.47 g, T4 126.8 g, T5 136.2 g으로 T2, T5처리구에서 수량이 많았다. 위 시험결과를 종합해볼 때, 열매탈과팜이삭(PEFB)를 비트펄프로 대체하여 느타리버섯 재배에 이용이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

전업 주부와 직업 주부의 식생활 평가 및 영양 지식에 관한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of the Dietary Assessment and Knowledge of (Full-Time) Housewives and Working (Job-Holding) Housewives)

  • This was conducted to investigate the dietary assessment, food preferences, snack intake, priority order in food purchase, and knowledge of diet of full-time housewives and working housewives through the use of a questionnaire. The participants (127 working housewives and 86 housewives) were selected at random from Seoul and its vicinity. The predominant job reported by working housewives was saleswomen and specialized job (20.7%). The average monthly income of both housewives and working housewives ranged from 3,000,000 to 5,000,000 won. Forty percent of housewives consumed more meat, fish, eggs, beans, and tofu, while 50.0% of housewives ate vegetables other than kimchi at every meal, 51.2% of housewives consumed one serving of fruit and one cup of fruit juice, 45.3% of housewives consumed three regular meals, and 60.5% of housewives consumed a balanced diet when compared with working housewives (p<0.05). Working housewives consumed beverages, ice cream, milk, and dairy products, while housewives consumed breads, sweet potato, potato, and fruit as snacks. The preference that most often led to food selection was flavor among working housewives (67.7%) and housewives (64.0%). Both working housewives and housewives always confirmed the day of food production. Generally, housewives were more interested in learning about food, creating a dietary plan, nutrient loss during cooking and reducing waste food when compared with working housewives. Housewives appeared to have better dietary assessment and knowledge than working housewives. Accordingly, it is advisable to prepare more systemic education programs for working housewives.

A novel combination of sodium metabisulfite and a chemical mixture based on sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, and sodium nitrite for aerobic preservation of fruit and vegetable discards and lactic acid fermentation in a total mixed ration for ruminants

  • Objective: Our recent findings confirmed the effectiveness of sodium metabisulfite (SMB) in controlling the growth of undesirable microorganisms in fruit and vegetable discards (FVD); however, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are susceptible to its antibacterial effects. Two series of experiments were conducted to enable the survivability of LAB during silage fermentation of a total mixed ration (TMR) containing SMB-treated FVD. Methods: In Exp. 1, the objective was to isolate a strain of LAB tolerable to the toxic effect of SMB. In Exp. 2, the SMB load was minimized through its partial replacement with a chemical mixture (CM) based on sodium benzoate (57%), potassium sorbate (29%), and sodium nitrite (14%). FVD was treated with SMB + CM (2 g each/kg biomass) and added to the TMR at varying levels (0%, 10%, or 20%), with or without KU18 inoculation. Results: The KU18 was screened as a presumptive LAB strain showing superior tolerance to SMB in broth medium, and was identified at the molecular level using 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis as Lactobacillus plantarum. Inoculation of KU18 in TMR containing SMB was not successful for the LAB development, biomass acidification, and organoleptic properties of the resultant silage. In Exp. 2, based on the effectiveness and economic considerations, an equal proportion of SMB and CM (2 g each/kg FVD) was selected as the optimal loads for the subsequent silage fermentation experiment. Slight differences were determined in LAB development, biomass acidification, and sensorial characteristics among the experimental silages, suggesting the low toxicity of the preservatives on LAB growth. Conclusion: Although KU18 strain was not able to efficiently develop in silage mass containing SMB-treated FVD, the partial substitution of SMB load with the CM effectively alleviated the toxic effect of SMB and allowed LAB development during the fermentation of SMB + CM-treated FVD in TMR.

국내 주요 시설채소 부산물의 메탄 생산 퍼텐셜 (Biochemical Methane Potential of Agricultural Byproduct in Greenhouse Vegetable Crops)

  • 본 연구는 안성시 관내에서 발생하는 농산부산물 바이오매스 중 오이, 토마토, 파프리카 작물 잔사를 수거하여 실험에 공시하고 각 부산물의 발생특성과 메탄 생산 퍼텐셜을 조사 분석하였다. 농산부산물의 에너지 자원화 기준으로는 메탄생산량을 설정하고, 부산물별 메탄 퍼텐셜을 시험하였으며 측정된 메탄 퍼텐셜을 기초자료로 활용하여 단위면적당 바이오매스 발생량, 바이오가스 생산량 및 비료가치를 조사 분석하였다. 실험적 메탄 퍼텐셜은 농산부산물별로 $0.170{\sim}0.354Nm^3\;kg^{-1}\;VS_{added}$의 값을 보였으며, 그중 파프리카 열매가 가장 높은 메탄 생산 퍼텐셜을 보였으며, 오이 줄기가 가장 낮은 메탄 생산 퍼텐셜을 보였다. 시설 원예에서 기인하는 바이오매스별 메탄생산량은 줄기 부위가 잎이나 열매 부위 보다 낮은 값을 나타내는 경향을 보였다. 시설 재배지의 단위면적당 바이오매스 발생량은 오이 30.5 > 토마토 28.3 > 파프리카 $21.5Mg\;ha^{-1}$순 이었으며, 단위면적당 메탄생산량은 오이 782.5 > 파프리카 686.8 > 토마토 $645.0Nm^3\;ha^{-1}$순 이었다.

진공고주파를 이용한 일체형 건조기개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on an Integrated Drying Machine with Microwave at Vacuum Conditions)

  • In Jeju province, the Citrus is widely spread crop which is the most popular fruit on the island. When the quality of a Citrus is not in a good condition or when its size exceeds or is lower than the set criteria, it is discarded as a waste. In this study, a drying machine for waste Citrus has been developed with 2.6 GHz microwave energy supply to the Citrus at vacuum environment. The vacuum environment of the drying chamber was maintained to reduce the energy supply to the Citrus by lowering the evaporating temperature of the water. The experiment was conducted with variation of the vacuum pressure, interior temperature of the drying chamber, and operating time of the microwave. As a result, the effect of the temperature was shown to be higher than the other two control methods, and it showed with 0.305 g/W evaporation efficiency.

폐과일껍질을 이용한 친환경 NiO 나노분말 합성 및 향균특성 연구 (Enviroment-Friendly Synthesis of Nanocrystalline Nickel Oxide and Its Antibacterial Properties)

  • This study reports an environment-friendly synthetic strategy to process nickel oxide nanocrystals. A mesoporous nickel oxide nanostructure was synthesized using an environmentally benign biomimetic method. We used a natural rambutan peel waste resource as a raw material to ligate nickel ions to form nickel-ellagate complexes. The direct decomposition of the obtained complexes at $700^{\circ}C$, $900^{\circ}C$ and $1100^{\circ}C$ in a static air atmosphere resulted in mesoporous nickel oxide nanostructures. The formation of columnar mesoporous NiO with a concentric stacked doughnuts architecture was purely dependent on the suitable direct decomposition temperature at $1100^{\circ}C$ when the synthesis was carried out. The prepared NiO nanocrystals were coated on cotton fabric and their antibacterial activity was also analyzed. The NiO nanoparticle-treated cotton fabric exhibited good antibacterial and wash durability performance.

Ethylene Gas Adsorption of Clay-Woodceramics from 3 layers-clay-woodparticleboard

  • The woodceramics are porous amorphous carbon and glassy carbon composite materials. Woodceramics attracted a lot of attention in recent years because they are environmentally friendly and because of their unique functional characteristics such as catalysis, moisture absorption, deodorization, purification, carrier for microbial activity, specific stiffness, corrosion and friction resistance, and their electromagnetic shielding capacity. In this paper, we made new products of clay-woodceramics to investigate the industrial analysis and ethylene gas adsorption for basic data of building- and packging- materials keeping fruit fresh for a long time. Clay-woodceramics were carbonized for 3 h of heating in a special furnace under a gas flow of nitrogen(15 ml/min.) from 3 layers-clay-woodparticleboard made from pallet waste wood, phenol- formaldehyde resin(hereafter PF, Non volatile content:52%, resin content 30%), and clay(10%, 20% and 30%). Carbonization temperature was 400℃, 600℃ and 800℃. Experimental results shows that the higher the carbonization temperature, the higher the fixed carbon and the lower the volatile contents. The higher the clay content, the more the ash content. The higher the carbonization temperature, the more the ethylene gas adsorption. Carbonization temperature of 800℃ gave the best reslts as same as that of white charcoal and activated carbon.(800℃-clay-woodceramic: 5.36 ppm, white charcoal: 5.66 ppm, activated carbon: 5.79 ppm) The clay contents did not make difference of ethylene gas adsoption.
