실내건축재료의 환경친화에 관한 의미론적 고찰 (A semantic Study on Environmental-friendly of Interior Architecture materials)

  • In 1990s, interest on Environment has been increased and Environment-oriented consumer's economic power accelerated the trend of preference for 'Environment-friendly material'. Moreover, the concept of 'Sick Building' Syndrome has been spread to the public and solution for the syndrome is required. 'Environment-friendly material'means that the material used is not harmful for the user's health, and on top of that, causes least harm to the environment during production/scrap process of the material itself. Decision of designers and architectures, as a result, is really crucial tot he environment issues. Above all, selecting the most environment-friendly material and design among possible candidates is natural and cost saving way. In the paper, couple of Evaluation Criterium for Material Selection are analyzed and objective linkage has been identified. With the result of analysis, methodology to minimize damage on environment during whole life cycle of the Interior Design has been sought for.

친환경 Ag-SnO2 전기접점재료의 분말야금 공정 최적화 (Process Optimization of Environment-Friendly Ag-SnO2 Electric Contact Materials through a Powder Metallurgy)

  • In a view point of environment, the advanced electric contact material without environmental load element such as cadmium has to be developed. Extensive studies have been carried out on $Ag-SnO_2$ electric contact material as a substitute of Ag-CdO contact materials. In the present study, powder metallurgy including compaction and sintering is introduced to solve the incomplete oxidation problems in manufacturing process of $Ag-SnO_2$ electrical contact material. The $Ag-SnO_2$ contact material, fabricated in this study, was actually set in an electric switchgear of which working voltage is 462V and current is between 25 and 40A, for the purpose of testing its performance. As a result, it exceeded the existing Ag-CdO contact materials in terminal-temperature ascent and main contact resistance.

천연섬유와 석회복합체의 모르터 강도 성상에 관한 연구 (Strength Characteristics of Mortar with Lime Composites and Natural Fiber)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the strength characteristics of mortar with lime composites using natural fiber or superplasticizer. Lime composites consist of lime and pozzolan materials. Flow according to adding natural fiber decreased and mortar proportion added cellulose fiber showed a higher strength characterisitics than other natural fiber. but compressive and shear strength in use of superplasticizer is not effective largely. In addition, lime composites, as an environment-friendly material, may help reduse $CO_2$, and save the energy. also this materials can be recycled in environmental aspects. afterwards, further in-depth studies will be necessary for cracks and durability with respect to its wide different applications, in applying it as a construction material.

Selection of Natural Materials for Eco-friendly Control for Blight of Wood-Cultivated Ginseng(Panax ginseng)

  • This study was carried out to control the disease of wood-cultivated ginseng(panax ginseng) using natural materials. Four fungi spices such as Pythium ultimum, Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia solani which caused disease of the wood-cultivated ginseng were investigated. The infection of these fungi causes symptom on roots, stems and leaves. The leaves became dry and die. The disease caused by Pythium ultimum can be prevented by using friendly environmental materials like Chamaecyparis obtuse essential oil and Wormstop. Alternaria alternata and Fusarium oxysporum might be prevented by using wormstop extracted from Neem tree(Azadirachta indica). No substance tested effectively prevents the growth of Rhizoctonia solani.

다공질 콘크리트를 이용한 식생용 콘크리트 특성 - 다공질 콘크리트의 물리화학적 특성을 중심으로 - (The Properties of Concretes for Planting Vegetations Based on Porous Concretes)

  • This study was carried out to find out the capability of applying such materials as porous concrete, could be called environmentally friendly materials, for bringing vegetations. For verying the purpose of the experiments such materials as potland cement and slag cement, coarse aggravates(${\phi}25mm$, ${\phi}18mm$, ${\phi}13mm$) were mixed. In the voids of porous concrete peatmoss and chemical fertilizers were filled, and on the surface of concrete organic soils were adhered for seeding grasses. For testing compressive strength, pH, voids the 12($4mixed{\times}3times$) specimens were manufactured. As results, the compressive strength of porous concretes were from 59 to $267kg/cm^2$ depend on mixed ratios between cements and coarse aggregates. Voids of concrete were from 33% to 40% and the pH were varied pH 8-10.5. So the capability of planting vegetations was to be ascertained. The germination and growth of grasses were not good, but it could be found out that the capability of vegetations on the concretes. For generalizing these results and applying on the construction sites, it is necessary to verificate following studies for various conditions.

환경가구 디자인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of Environmental Furniture)

  • Environmental furniture comprises an independent design branch as distinguished from he design of street furniture. Environmental furniture helps people enjoy outdoor relaxation and cultural activities by creating convenient facilities and plays a part as the medium connecting environment and living. As a tool effecting all outdoor living conditions including home and public environment, it helps people lead a convenient and safe outdoor life. It is an important element that contributes to the image of outdoor scenery. Therefore, the design of environmental furniture should : 1)consider environment including 3R(Recycle, Reuse and Reduce) which makes harmony with nature without destroying it. 2)seek qualitative improvement by using environmental friendly materials and continuously developing new materials. 3)be assisted by the administrative support from the government to make the environmental furniture design an integral part of the city plan. The quality of a city environment will be greatly improved when people's interest in and their changed view towards environmental furniture is effected.

자기소화성 에폭시 수지 조성물 연구 (Study on Self-extinguishing Epoxy Resin Composition)

  • 할로겐 함유 난연 화합물은 인체에 무해하고 유해가스 발생이 없는 환경 친화적인 소재로 대체되어가고 있다. 반도체 소자의 밀봉용 소재로 사용되는 에폭시 수지 조성물도 친환경적인 소재로 만들기 위해서, 에폭시 수지의 자소화에 관해 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서도 신규 에폭시 수지(E3)를 사용하여 할로겐계 화합물을 전혀 함유하지 않는 자소성 에폭시 수지 조성물을 제조하였다. 새로 만들어진 에폭시 수지 조성물(EMC-1)은 UL 난연 V0를 갖고 5 wt% 분해 온도가 $451.9^{\circ}C$로, 할로겐계 난연제나 삼산화안티몬 등을 첨가하지 않고도 난연성이 우수하고 열분해성, 내열성 등이 우수하게 나타나 친환경 소재로 적용할 수 있다.

대구 세계육상선수권대회 마라톤 구간의 열환경변화분석 (Analysis on Thermal Environment of Marathon Course in 2011 Daegu World Championship in Athletics)

  • In this study, thermal environment changes for a marathon course of IAAF World Championship, Daegu 2011 were modeled to provide improvements of thermal environment, so that runners could have the maximum condition and citizens pleasant streets. The three biggest size of intersections were selected for the study. Envi-met, 3G microclimate model, were used for a thermal environment analysis and three different cases - present status, planting roadside tree scenario, and roof-garden scenario - were compared. The followings are the results of the study. 1. The highest thermal distribution were shown at 1 p.m., but there was no significant difference between a thermal distribution at 1 p.m. and that at 5 p.m. since a heat flux from buildings affects thermal distributions rather than insolation does. 2. Tree planting or adding environmental friendly factors might lead a temperature drop effect, but the effect was not significant for areas covered with impermeability packing materials such as concrete or asphalt (especally, for Site case 2) 3. The combination of tree planting and adding environmental friendly factors also brought a temperature drop effect (Site 1 and 2) and this case showed even better result if green spaces (especially, parks) were closed.

  • The food self-support rate on the basis of cereals in Korea is approximately 27%, which will threaten the national food security. The dramatic increase in population accompanied by rapid industrialization in developing countries has caused imbalances in the supply of food and energy. To cope with these global crises over food and energy supplies as well as environmental problems, it is urgently required to develop new environmentally friendly industrial crop varieties to be grown on marginal lands including desertification areas for sustainable development. Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) ranks seventh in annual production among food crops in the world. Its wide adaptability on marginal lands and rich nutritional content provide a high potential for preventing malnutrition and enhancing food security in the developing countries. In addition, sweetpotato can be developed as a bioreactor to produce valuable industrial materials including bio-ethanol, functional feed and antioxidants by molecular breeding. In this respect, we focus on the molecular breeding of sweetpotato with multi-function on marginal lands. The strategies for development of environmentally friendly industrial sweetpotato will be introduced and discussed.

친환경 섬유소재에 대한 대학생들의 인식도 연구 (University Students' Awareness of Eco-friendly Textile Fiber)

  • In midst of growing interest and awareness towards sustainability and being "green", there has been increased demand for sustainable clothing. In the purpose of boosting eco-friendly textiles industry, this research was conducted by investigating environmentally-conscious clothing behavior of university students and assessing their views on eco-friendliness of fibers. Thus, their awareness on recycled polyester fiber was evaluated. The research was conducted by surveying 257 university students residing in Daejeon. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and reliability analysis, using SPSS 19.0. The results were as follows. 1) The majority of the subjects answered "Disposing clothing in the clothing recycling container" to reduce environmental impact. 2) Six factors of eco-friendliness of fiber were extracted as reutilization, unfinishedness, economics, environment preservation, natural materials, and slow fashion by using factor analysis. 3) Subjects scored organic cotton as most eco-friendly among various fibers. Recycled polyester fiber was graded less sustainable than natural fiber, but more eco-friendly than artificial one. 4) In assessment of subject's awareness of recycled polyester fiber, they highly valued on resource-reutilization and economics, but less valued on its hygiene, thermal insulation and health-functionality.
