For an accurate computer simulation to motor drive systems, the target mechanical load system driven by a motor needs to be model its characteristics accurately. In general, a load system is modeled simply with system parameters such as approximated system inertia and friction. So, simulation results have some errors compared with experimental results for a real load system. RecurDyn is a mechanics simulation program for 3-dimension analysis to mechanical load systems. From this program, parameters such as a load torque, a system inertia and a viscous friction can be obtained accurately which are required to model a mechanical system. Also, this program operates together Matlab/Simulink which is used to simulate electrical motor drive systems. So, an accurate simulation for the whole system with a motor drive system and a mechanical load is possible. This paper introduces an application of RecurDyn program to an electric forklift drive system using IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) and examines the feasibility of co-simulation it with Matlab/Simulink.
This paper represents an ultra precision rotational device where the smooth impact drive mechanism (SIDM) is utilized as driving mechanism. Linear motions of piezoelectric elements are converted to the rotational motion of disk by frictional forces generated between the rotational disk and the friction part that is attached to the piezoelectric element. This device was designed to drive the rotational disk using slip-slip motion mechanism instead of stick-slip motion mechanism occurred in conventional impact drive mechanism. Experimental results show that the angular velocity is increased in proportion to the magnitude and frequency of supplied voltage to piezoelectric element and decreased as the preload is increased. In our device, the smooth rotational motion was obtained when the driving frequency has been reached to 500Hz under the driving voltage of 100V.
The 440C stainless steel is used for ball bearings and bevel gears in the control rod drive mechanism for the integral reactor, SMART. The friction characteristics of 400C stainless steel a investigated in sliding motion using the reciprocating tribometer which can simulate the operating conditions of the control rod drive mechanism. Highly purified water is used as lubricant, and the water is heated and pressurized in the autoclave. Friction force on the reciprocating specimens is measured by the load cells and transformed into friction coefficient. It is verified that frictional characteristic of the 440c steel is not drastically changed up to operating temperature and variation of friction coeffcient at operating temperature from room temperature to 160$^{\circ}C$ is within 5%.
This research focuses on reducers, vital components in service robots, with a special emphasis on friction reducers designed for use in environments where interaction with humans is essential. For service robots to effectively perform advanced tasks, it is crucial to have reducers that offer high precision, high reduction ratios, and strong resistance to impacts. To meet these requirements, our study introduces a new design methodology and proposes a friction reducer featuring a multi-layer ball array structure. Compared to traditional gearbox-based reducers, the friction reducer developed in this study demonstrates a higher reduction ratio and improved shock absorption. The performance of this newly proposed reducer has been verified through experimental analysis. It was confirmed that by minimizing drive losses, the system has high backdrivability, delivering a torque of 15 Nm. Additionally, it was observed that the system showed an immediate response without backlash to fine input vibrations.
This article deals with the spin loss analysis of friction drive CVTs, especially for the cases of S-CVT and SS-CVT. There are two main sources of power loss resulting from slippage in the friction drive CVT, spin and slip loss. Spin loss, which is also a main design issue in traction drives, results from the elastic contact deformation of rotating bodies having different rotational velocities. The structure and operating principles of the S-CVT and SS-CVT are first reviewed briefly. And to analyze the losses resulting from slippage, we reviewed previous analyses of the friction mechanism. A modified classical friction model is proposed, which describes the friction behavior including Stribeck (i.e., pre-sliding) effect. It is also performed an in-depth study for the velocity fields generated at the contact regions along with a Hertzian analysis of deflection. Hertzian results were employed to construct the geometric parameters and normal pressure distributions of the contact surface with respect to elastic and plastic deformations. With analytic formulations of the relative velocity field, deflection, and friction mechanism of the S-CVT and SS-CVT, quantitative analyses of spin loss for each case are carried out. As a result, explicit models of spin loss were developed.
In this study, the tire road friction estimation(TRFE) algorithm for controlling the rear wheel driving force of a 4WD vehicle during acceleration is developed using a standard sensor in an ordinary 4WD passenger car and a speed sensor. The algorithm is constructed for the wheel shaft torque, longitudinal tire force, vertical tire force and maximum tire road friction estimation. The estimation results of shaft torque and tire force were validated using a torque sensor and wheel force transducer. In the algorithm, the current road friction is defined as the proportion calculated between longitudinal and vertical tire force. Slip slop methods using current road friction and slip ratio are applied to estimate the road friction coefficient. Based on this study's results, the traction performance, fuel consumption and drive shaft strength performance of a 4WD vehicle are improved by applying the tire road friction estimation algorithm.
An essential ingredient in precision machining is a positioning system that responds quickly and precisely to very small input signal. In this paper, two different positioning systems were presented fot the precision positioning control. The one is a friction drive system, the other is a ballscrew system. The friction drive system was composed of an air sliding guide and a friction drive. The ballscrew system was made of a ballscrew and a linear guide. Nonlinear behaviors of the given systems tend to make the system inaccurate. The paper looked at the phenomena that has caused the positioning error. These apparently nonlinear phenomena can be attributed mainly to the presence of the nonlinear friction and slip effect plus the dynamic change from the microdynamic to the macrodynamic and form the macrodynamic to the microdynamic. For the control of the positioning system, the control algorithm based on a neural network is suggested. The FEL(Feedback Error Learning) controller can learn the inverse dynamics of a nonlinear system by using the neural network controller, and stabilize the system by a linear controller. In the experiment, PTP control is implemented withen the maximum error of 0.05 .mu.m ~0.1 .mu. m when i .mu.m step reference input is applied and that of maximum 1 .mu. m when 100 .mu.m step reference input is given. Sinusoidal inputs with the amplitude of 1 .mu.m and 100 .mu. m are used for the tracking control of the positioning system. Experimental results of the proposed algorithm are shown to be superior to those of conventional PD controls.
The main objective of the research is to Propose an algorithm that to estimate the screwing torque from parameters of DC motor current without using any stain gage and torque cell. The auto screw drive system is divided into two parts, one is the DC motor ind the other is mechanical part in which the friction torque and damping ratio are a function of rotational of spindle electro motive force constant. The torque is estimated from the friction torque. The research is concerned with applying the method to an auto screw drive and the advantages and limitations are also discussed in this paper.
Recently the demand for a fast and precise actuator in semiconductor industries is growing larger. A SAW motor is now expected as a new friction-drive actuator to meet such demand. However, its friction and wear properties are almost unknown and its low stability and reliability still remain to be solved. In this research the tests of SAW motor were carried out and its durability was discussed. The effect of wear caused by friction on the driving force and driving speed were clarified.
This paper represents a ultra precision rotational device where the smooth impact drive mechanism(SIDM) is utilized as a driving mechanism. Linear motions of piezoelectric elements are converted to the rotational motion of disk by frictional forces generated between the rotational disk and the friction bars which are attached to the piezoelectric elements. This device was designed to drive a rotational disk using slip-slip motion mechanism based on stick-slip motion mechanism. Experimental results show that the angular velocity was increased in proportion to the magnitude of supplied voltage to piezoelectric element. In our device, the smooth rotational motion was obtained when the driving frequency has been reached to 500Hz under the driving voltage of 100V. The amount of step movement has been revealed to be $3.44{\times}10^{-4}$ radian.
