Currently lots of studies to solve meta-data interoperability in between schema attributes are conducted. But the accuracy in previous schema mapping studies is low since the studies just use the similarity in between attributes. So the studies are not suitable for the schema mapping such as document conversion, system integration, etc. In this paper, we propose a method which can conduct the schema mapping interactively using frequent pattern mining. The method can conduct more accurate mapping process because the method use the description element which is an element among each schema element for the metadata standard. A performance study has been conducted to compare the accuracy performance of the method using metadata standards.
Data mining is an effective method of the discovery of useful information such as rules and previously unknown patterns existing in large databases. The discovery of association rules is an important data mining problem. We have developed a new parallel mining called Distributed Frequent Pattern Tree (abbreviated by DFPT) algorithm on a distributed shared nothing parallel system to detect association rules. DFPT algorithm is devised for parallel execution of the FP-growth algorithm. It needs only two full disk data scanning of the database by eliminating the need for generating the candidate items. We have achieved good workload balancing throughout the mining process by distributing the work equally to all processors. We implemented the algorithm on a PC cluster system, and observed that the algorithm outperformed the Improved Count Distribution scheme.

A sequential pattern mining is finding out frequent patterns from the data set in time order. In this field, a dynamic weighted sequential pattern mining is applied to a computing environment that changes depending on the time and it can be utilized in a variety of environments applying changes of dynamic weight. In this paper, we propose a new sequence data mining method to explore the stream data by applying the dynamic weight. This method reduces the candidate patterns that must be navigated by using the dynamic weight according to the relative time sequence, and it can find out frequent sequence patterns quickly as the data input and output using a hash structure. Using this method reduces the memory usage and processing time more than applying the existing methods. We show the importance of dynamic weighted mining through the comparison of different weighting sequential pattern mining techniques.

A existing recommedation system using association rules has the problem, which is suffered from inefficiency by reprocessing of the data which have already been processed in the incremental data environment in which new data are added persistently. We propose the recommendation technique using incremental frequent pattern mining based on RFM in e-commerce. The proposed can extract frequent items and create association rules using frequent patterns mining rapidly when new data are added persistently.
For developing the location based service which is individualized and specialized according to the characteristic of the users, the spatio-temporal pattern mining for extracting the meaningful and useful patterns among the various patterns of the mobile object on the spatio-temporal area is needed. Thus, in this paper, as the practical application toward the development of the location based service in which it is able to apply to the real life through the pattern mining from the huge historical data of mobile object, we are proposed STOMP(using Frequency of sequence and Weight) that is the new mining method for extracting the patterns with spatial and temporal constraint based on the problems of mining the optimal moving pattern which are defined in STOMP(F)[25]. Proposed method is the pattern mining method compositively using weighted value(weights) (a distance, the time, a cost, and etc) for our previous research(STOMP(F)[25]) that it uses only the pattern frequent occurrence. As to, it is the method determining the moving pattern in which the pattern frequent occurrence is above special threshold and the weight is most a little bit required among moving patterns of the object as the optimal path. And also, it can search the optimal path more accurate and faster than existing methods($A^*$, Dijkstra algorithm) or with only using pattern frequent occurrence due to less accesses to nodes by using the heuristic moving history.
Traditional frequent pattern mining discovers valid patterns with no smaller frequency than a user-defined minimum threshold from databases. In this framework, an enormous number of patterns may be extracted by a too low threshold, which makes result analysis difficult, and a too high one may generate no valid pattern. Setting an appropriate threshold is not an easy task since it requires the prior knowledge for its domain. Therefore, a pattern mining approach that is not based on the domain knowledge became needed due to inability of the framework to predict and control mining results precisely according to the given threshold. Top-k frequent pattern mining was proposed to solve the problem, and it mines top-k important patterns without any threshold setting. Through this method, users can find patterns from ones with the highest frequency to ones with the k-th highest frequency regardless of databases. In this paper, we provide knowledge both on frequent and top-k pattern mining. Although top-k frequent pattern mining extracts top-k significant patterns without the setting, it cannot consider both item quantities in transactions and relative importance of items in databases, and this is why the method cannot meet requirements of many real-world applications. That is, patterns with low frequency can be meaningful, and vice versa, in the applications. High utility pattern mining was proposed to reflect the characteristics of non-binary databases and requires a minimum threshold. Recently, top-k high utility pattern mining has been developed, through which users can mine the desired number of high utility patterns without the prior knowledge. In this paper, we analyze two algorithms related to top-k high utility pattern mining in detail. We also conduct various experiments for the algorithms on real datasets and study improvement point and development direction of top-k high utility pattern mining through performance analysis with respect to the experimental results.

Wind energy has proven its viability by the emergence of countless wind turbines around the world which greatly contribute to the increased electrical generating capacity of wind farm operators. These infrastructures are usually deployed in not easily accessible areas; therefore, maintenance routines should be based on a well-guided decision so as to minimize cost. To aid operators prior to the maintenance process, a condition monitoring system should be able to accurately reflect the actual state of the wind turbine and its major components in order to execute specific preventive measures using as little resources as possible. In this paper, we propose a fault detection approach which combines cluster analysis and frequent pattern mining to accurately reflect the deteriorating condition of a wind turbine and to indicate the components that need attention. Using SCADA data, we extracted operational status patterns and developed a rule repository for monitoring wind turbine systems. Results show that the proposed scheme is able to detect the deteriorating condition of a wind turbine as well as to explicitly identify faulty components.

Data mining is a technique that explores knowledge such as relationships and patterns between data by exploring and analyzing data. Data that occurs in the real world includes a temporal attribute. Temporal data mining research to find useful knowledge from data with temporal properties can be effectively utilized for predictive judgment that can predict the future. In this paper, we propose an algorithm using time-unit grouping to classify the database into regular time period units and discover frequent pattern itemsets in time units. The proposed algorithm organizes the transaction and items included in the time unit into a matrix, and discovers frequent items in the time unit through grouping. In the experimental results for the performance evaluation, it was found that the execution time was 1.2 times that of the existing algorithm, but more than twice the frequent pattern itemsets were discovered.
Data Mining is widely used to discover knowledge in many fields. Although there are many methods to discover association rule, most of them are based on frequency-based approaches. Therefore it is not appropriate for stream environment. Because the stream environment has a property that event data are generated continuously. it is expensive to store all data. In this paper, we propose a new method to discover association rules based on stream environment. Our new method is using a variable window for extracting data items. Variable windows have variable size according to the gap of same target event. Our method extracts data using COBJ(Count object) calculation method. FPMDSTN(Frequent pattern Mining over Data Stream using Terminal Node) discovers association rules from the extracted data items. Through experiment, our method is more efficient to apply stream environment than conventional methods.

Design-bid-build (DBB) is the most common project delivery method among highway projects. State Highway Agencies (SHAs) usually apply a low-bid approach to select contractors for their DBB projects. In this approach, the Federal Highway Agency suggests SHAs heighten contractors' competition to lower bid prices. However, these attempts may become ineffective due to collusive bidding arrangements among certain contractors. One common strategy is the rotation of winning bidders of a group of contractors who bid on many of the same projects. These arrangements may also be specific to a particular region or vary in time. Despite the practices' adverse effects on bidding outcomes, an effective model to detect red-flag bidding patterns is lacking. This study fills the gap by proposing a novel framework that utilizes pattern mining techniques and statistical tests for unusual pattern detection. A case study with historical data from an SHA is conducted to illustrate the proposed framework.
