In this paper, we propose an asynchonous ICI (Inter-Cell Interference) mitigation techniques for 3GPP LTE MIMO-OFDMA down-link receiver. An increasing in symbol timing misalignments may occur relative to sychronous network as the result of BS (Base Station) timing differences. Such symbol synchronization errors that exceed the guard interval or the cyclic prefix duration may result in MAI (Multiple Access Interference) for other carriers. In particular, at the cell boundary, this MAI becomes a critical factor, leading to degraded channel throughput and severe asynchronous ICI. Hence, many researchers have investigated the interference mitigation method in the presence of asynchronous ICI and it appears that the knowledge of the SCM (Spatial Covariance Matrix) of the asynchronous ICI plus background noise is an important issue. Generally, it is assumed that the SCM estimated by using training symbols. However, it is difficult to measure the interference statistics for a long time and training symbol is also not appropriate for MIMO-OFDMA system such as LTE. Therefore, a noise reduction method is required to improve the estimation accuracy. Although the conventional time-domain low-pass type weighting method can be effective for noise reduction, it causes significant estimation error due to the spectral leakage in practical OFDM system. Therefore, we propose a time-domain sinc type weighing method which can not only reduce the noise effectively minimizing estimation error caused by the spectral leakage but also implement frequency-domain moving average filter easily. By using computer simulation, we show that the proposed method can provide up to 3dB SIR gain compared with the conventional method.
Temperate-resident bats exhibit a circadian cycle of torpor and arousal In summer. The physiological role and selective advantage of torpor as an energy saving mechanism have been received much attention by hibernation biologists. However, despite the significance of the recovering euthermic function, the arousal process and mechanism in these animals have been poorly addressed. In this study, we investigated thermogenic and motor activities of a local bat species Murina leucogaster during arousal by simultaneously examining oxygen consumption rate, body temperature ($T_b$) and pectoral electromyography (EMG). We found that Tb of the torpid bats (12-14$^{\circ}C$) was augmented slowly by nonshivering mechanism during the initial awakening phase. The pectoral shivering, gauged by EMG activity, occurred between 17$^{\circ}C$ and 38$^{\circ}C$. Over this Tb range of shivering, heat was produced at a rate of 0.145 kcal $kg^{-1}\;min^{-1}$ to raise 1$^{\circ}C$$T_b$ per min. Shivering was most intensive at 30-35$^{\circ}C$ where both EMG amplitude and spike frequency were the highest. Activation of the pectoral myofibers seemed to be controlled in a manner that motor units were recruited from smaller to larger sizes, with greater synchronization, as muscle shivering became intensive with increasing $T_b$.

The GPS new civil signal is modulated on the L2 carrier at a frequency of 1227.6MHz. The L2C signal is composed of two multiplexed code signals, which include CM code with a 10,230 chip sequency repeating every 20ms, and CL code which has a 767,250 chip sequency repeating every 1.5 seconds. Thus, the new civil signal have much improved cross correlation properties so that the position fixing can be possible even with very weak signals. However, it requires very long acquisition time because of its long code length. This paper presents an efficient signal acquisition method for L2C AGPS receiver. Snapshot mode and coarse time assistance are assumed and total integration time is given by 1.5 sec. By SNR worksheet and computer simulation, it is proven that L2C signal can be acquired with very weak power less than -150dBm. Considering the acquisition time and the sensitivity, it is recommended that the highest power signal is acquired with CM code first to reduce TTFF. By the timing synchronization, at this time, search space of the code phase for other signals can be greatly reduced so that CL code can be used in signal acquisition to maximize sensitivity with small computation.

The study for enhancing the data transmission rate of the next generation wireless communication system using MIMO system operating in the frequency selective fading environment is currently actively conducted. Mixed signal from each transmitted antennas are received at antennas. The training signal with orthogonal property is needed to separate the mixed signal and enable to estimate channel and time synchronization. In this paper we introduce several training sequences used in MIMO communication system and proposed the modified WeCAN sequence with good auto-correlation property in interested area. We compared auto-correlation property of each sequence via simulation and compared the performance of sequences in doppler shift and multipath fading channel.
Terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (TDMB) is a method of bringing multimedia images, radio, internet, and television to portable devices through terrestrial digital radio transmissions. TDMB related educations being carried out in colleges are focusing on developing firmware which enables users to choose a wanted service. TDMB transmission frame is made up of synchronization channel (SC), fast information channel (FIC), and main service channel (MSC). Services such as video, audio and date are transmitted in the form of subchannel in the MSC. FIC carries information related to each services and subchannels. This paper presents a TDMB frame analysis simulator for analyzing and displaying FIC data on PC. TDMB frame analysis simulator contains functions such as controlling TDMB receiver through USB, establishing the frequency, bringing FIC to PC, displaying ensemble ID and levels, and displaying informations related to services and subchannels. In addition to that, this simulator has a function of being able to store FIC date and subchannel data. This simulator being developed with C++ is expected to be used to view those data visually so that it helps students to understand the TDMB system better and bring about the educational motivation.
Mobile cloud computing is a technology that uses cloud services to overcome resource constrains of a mobile device, and it applies the computation offloading scheme to transfer a portion of a task which should be executed from a mobile device to the cloud. If the communication cost of the computation offloading is less than the computation cost of a mobile device, the mobile device commits a certain task to the cloud. The previous cost analysis models, which were used for separating functions running on a mobile device and functions transferring to the cloud, only considered the amount of data transfer and response time as the offloading cost. In this paper, we proposed a new task partitioning scheme that considers the frequency of function calls and data synchronization, during the cost estimation of the computation offloading. We also verified the energy efficiency of the proposed scheme by using experimental results.

The intensity and duration of sexual behavior in Bos indicus was assessed through the continuous observation of sexual receptivity. Two groups of cows were formed: only synchronized (n = 50) and other group further superovulated (n = 20). An intravaginal implant that released progesterone over 9 d was used. After removing the implant, 25 mg of $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ was administered. In the superovulated group, the administration of 280 mg (Follicle stimulant hormone) FSH-P1 per cow with a decreasing dosage over 4 d was utilized. In both groups, behavioral observations began at the moment of implant removal. Sexual behavior was analyzed using a Kruskal-Wallis test to compare the mean of hours in estrus, effective mountings and number of mounts/hour during estrus. A nonparametric survival analysis was performed using the time in two ways: i) when an event happened it was placed in a 24 h timeframe and, ii) the time of observation in continuous form (96 h) assessing the difference between curves by the log rank test Chi-square. The only significant difference was the number of mounts/h during receptivity (p<0.05). In the superovulated group three periods of sexual activity during the day were identified, with these events being of greater frequency and duration than the synchronized group (p = 0.02); besides, the superovulated group began estrus before the synchronized group (p = 0.0035) when using the total period. In a simulation study, when the number of observations went from two (06:00-18:00) to three periods (06:00, 12:00 and 18:00) cows detected accurately (<6 h after the onset) increased more than 20%. The results show that superovulated cows presented greater intensity and duration of sexual activity in contrast with only synchronized animals.

The synchronous TDC(Time-to-Digital Converter) of counter-type using current-conveyor is designed by $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process and the supply voltage is 3 volts. In order to compensate the disadvantage of a asynchronous TDC the clock is generated when the start signal is applied and the clock is synchronized with the start signal. In the asynchronous TDC the error range of digital output is from $-T_{CK}$ to $T_{CK}$. But the error range of digital output is from 0 to $T_{CK}$ in the synchronous TDC. The error range of output is reduced by the synchronization between the start signal and the clock when the timing-interval signal is converted to digital value. Also the structure of the synchronous TDC is simple because there is no the high frequency external clock. The operation of designed TDC is confirmed by the HSPICE simulation.

In this paper, we present an implementation and it's real-sea test of an underwater acoustic data communication system, which allows the system to reduce complexity and increase robustness in time variant underwater environments. For easy adaptation to complicated and time-varying environments of the ocean, all-digital transmitter and receiver systems were implemented. For frame synchronization the CAZAC sequence was used, and QPSK modulation/ demodulation method with carrier frequency of 25kHz and a bandwidth of 5kHz were applied to generate 10kbps transmission rate including overhead. To improve transmission quality, we used several techniques and algorithms such as adaptive beamforming, adaptive equalizer, and convolution coding/Viterbi decoding. for the verification of the system performance, measurement of BER has been done in a very shallow water with depth of 8m at JangMok, Geoje. During the experiment, image data were successfully transmitted up to about 7.4km.
Recently, many research initiatives have been underway to improve reception performance of ATSC based DTV signal in mobile channel by adopting multiple antennas. In this paper, we propose a new mobile channel model which can be applicable to any array geometry. And then we propose new channel estimation algorithm which uses PN5l1 sequence in field synch. The proposed algorithm is to estimate channel by correlating the input signal in If frequency band and finding maximum peak, which does not need complicated synchronization circuit. Finally, we propose new receiver structures which can be implemented at the front-end of the existing receiver with no modification. With computer simulation, we verify the performance of the proposed model and verify the performance of the receiver structure with computer simulation.
