Inmarsat M4 시스템 수신기를 위한 16-QAM Carrier Recovery Loop 설계 (Design of a 16-QAM Carrier Recovery Loop for Inmarsat M4 System Receiver)

  • 본 논문에서는 Inmarsat M4 시스템의 수신기의 실제 구현에 적합한 16-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) carrier recovery loop를 제안한다. Inmarsat M4 시스템 규격에서 권고하는 frequency tolerance는 ${\pm}924\;Hz$ (Signal bandwidth: 33.6 kHz) 로서 이러한 상대적으로 큰 주파수 옵셋 환경에서 안정된 동작이 가능한 carrier recovery loop 설계가 요구된다. 일반적인 PLL(Phase Locked Loop) 만을 이용한 carrier recovery loop는 상대적으로 큰 주파수 옵셋 환경에서 안정적인 성능을 보장할 수 없으며, 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 상대적인 주파수 옵셋이 큰 환경에서도 안정적이 동작이 가능한 Inmarsat M4 시스템을 위한 carrier recovery loop 루프를 제안한다. 제안된 carrier recovery loop는 우선 carrier recovery 이전에 UW 신호 detection 을 위해 주파수 옵셋에 강인한 differential filter 기반의 noncoherent 방식의 detector를 이용하여 UW detection을 수행하였으며, 이후 초기 주파수 옵셋 포착을 위해 UW(Unique Word) 신호를 이용한 차동 방식의 CP(Cross Product)-AFC를 적용하였다. 또한 일반적으로 알려진 16-QAM NDA (Non Data Aided) 방식 대신 안정적인 jitter 성능을 위하여 16-QAM DD(Decision Directed) 방식의 PLL 을 적용하여 위상 추적을 수행하였으며, 성능 검증을 통해 제안된 16-QAM carrier recovery loop가 만족스러운 성능과 신뢰성 있는 동작이 가능함을 입증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Inmarsat (International Marine Satellite) mini-m 시스템의 하향 링크 수신기를 위한 timing recovery 루프를 제안한다. Inmarsat mini-m 시스템 규격에서 요구하는 frequency tolerance는 ${\pm}924$ Hz (signal bandwidth: 2.4 kHz) 이며, timing acquisition 시간은 하나의 UW (Unique Word) 신호 구간인 15ms 이기 때문에 주파수 옵셋에 강인하고 UW 신호 구간에서의 빠른 aquisition 이 가능한 루프 설계가 요구된다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 주파수 옵셋에 강인하고 빠른 aquisition 이 가능한 timing recovery 루프를 제안하였으며, 제안된 timing recovery 루프는 UW detector와 UW detector에 의해 검출된 UW 신호를 이용한 timing recovery 루프를 연동한 구조이다. UW detector는 주파수 옵셋 환경에서 안정적인 성능을 위해 차동 기반의 noncoherent detector 방식을 적용하였으며, TED (Timing Error Detector) 알고리즘은 기존의 GAD (Gardner Detector) 알고리즘 대신 본 논문에서 제안하는 UW 신호를 이용한 차동 기반의 ELD (Early Late Detector) 알고리즘 적용하였다. 제안된 방식과 기존의 GAD와의 성능 비교를 통해 제안된 방식이 만족스러운 성능과 신뢰성 있는 동작이 가능함을 입증하였다.

A Simple Scheme for Jitter Reduction in Phase-Differential Carrier Frequency Recovery Loop

  • A very simple and efficient scheme for jitter reduction is proposed for a carrier frequency recovery loop using phase differential frequency estimation, which estimates the current frequency offset based on the difference of the average phases of two successive intervals. Analytical and numerical results presented in this paper show that by simply overlapping the observation intervals by half for frequency offset estimations, both the steady-state and transient performances can be improved. The proposed scheme does not require any additional hardware circuitry, but results in improved performance even with reduced complexity.

고차의 QAM 시스템을 위한 고속 반송파 복원 (Fast Carrier Recovery for High-Order QAM Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 고차의 QAM 시스템을 위한 새로운 고속 반송파 복원 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 수신 심볼 간 위상차를 이용하여 반송파 주파수 오프셋을 직접 검출하며, 이를 기존의 반송파 복원 방식에 적용함으로써 넓은 주파수 추적 범위와 빠른 수렴 속도를 제공하는 반송파 복원을 수행할 수 있다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 반송파 복원 방식이 주파수 오프셋이 크고 신호 대 잡음비가 낮은 상황에서도 짧은 수렴 시간을 가지는 것을 확인하였다.

들기/내리기 빈도와 회복시간 변화에 따른 몸통 근육의 피로도 분석 (Analysis of Trunk Muscle Fatigue as the Frequency of Lifting/Lowering and Recovery Time Change)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the cumulative fatigue of trunk muscles and the period of recovery time during repetitive lifting and lowering task with two different frequencies(4 times/min and 6 times/ min). Eight healthy males with no prior history of LBD(low back disorders) volunteered for this study. Subjects had 2, 3, 4, and 5 minutes recovery time respectively while they were preforming the lifting and lowering task at 15% level of MVC. EMG signals from six trunk muscles were collected and the fatigue level was analyzed quantitatively. In results, the fatigue levels of LES(left elector spinae), RLD(right lattissimus dorsi), LLD(left lattissimus dorsi), RRA(right rectus abdominis) and LRA(left rectus abdominis) were recovered when 3 minutes recovery time was given at 4 times/min frequency. However, the fatgue level of RES(right elector spinae) was recovered when 4 minutes recovery was given. On the other hand, when 6 times/min frequency was used, the RLD, LLD, RRA and LRA were recovered at 5 minutes of recovery time. But for RES and LES, it took longer than 5 minutes to be recovered. This results can be applied to design the adequate length of recovery time to control the cumulative fatigue of trunk muscles in industry with repetitive lifting and lowering task.

좌골신경손상 백서의 통증과 기능회복에 저주파 전기자극과 수중운동이 미치는 효과 (Effects of Pain and Functional Recovery when Low Frequency Electrical Stimulation and Aqua-exercise Applied to Sciatic Nerve Injured Rats)

  • This study was investigated the effects of pain and functional recovery when low frequency electrical stimulation and aquatic exercise applied to sciatic nerve injured rats. The rats were assigned into four groups; Group I(n=20, control group), Group II(n=20, low frequency electrical stimulation group), Group III(n=20, aquatic exercise group), Group (n=20, applied low frequency electrical stimulation and aquaatic exercise group). Each IV group measured hot plate examination, sciatic nerve functional index(SFI), c-fos.. In hot plate examination, group II, IV showed effect than group Iat 14 days after injured(p<0.01) and group III, Ⅳ showed effect than group I at 21, 28 days after in-jured(p<0.01, p<0.001). In SFI, group II, III, IV showed effect II, III, IV than group I and group IV showed effect than group II at 14, 21 days after injured(p<0.001). group II, III, IV showed effect than group I at 28 days after injured(II = p<0.01, III and IV = p<0.001). Effects of pain and function recovery when low frequency electrical stimulation and aqua-exercise applied to sciatic nerve injured rats, group Ⅳ were most effected to sciatic nerve injured rats. As well as group II and III were effected to sciatic nerve injured rats.

  • One of the roles of AGC is to regulate the frequency of power systems. AGC is also used to control the frequency of Korean Power System. AGC control strategies depend on system characteristics and the requirements of the systems to which those are applied. Korean Power System consists of one control area and does not have tie-lines. In this research, an AGC control strategy is suggested to avoid conflict with governor dynamics and to enhance frequency recovery It shows good performance for regulation and frequency recovery. This control strategy is expected to be applied to New EMS in KPX to get reasonable AGC regulation and frequency recovery performance.

흰쥐의 발목염좌에 대한 전침, 온침 및 고주파온침 자극별 진통 효과의 비교 (Analgesic Effects of Electroacupuncture, Warm Needling and Radio Frequency Warm Needling on Surgical Ankle Sprain Model in Rats)

  • Objectives : The objectives of this study is to compare the effects of electroacupuncture(EA), warm needling(WN) and Radio Frequency warm needling(RFWN) stimulations on the acupoints at the artificially damaged ankles of Sprague-Dawley rats, which could be classified as the Grade 3. Methods : The foot weight bearing force ratio(FWBFR) of ankle sprain was measured first at 24 hours after without any other stimulations. Pain Recovery Index(PRI) represents the analgesic level, and modified Pain Recovery Index(mPRI) shows the accumulated recovery level. PRI was measured at 2 hours after each stimulus on GB34, GB39 and GB42, and mPRI was during 7 days. Results : EA stimulation of GB34 and GB39 acupoint in grade 3 ankle sprain showed a marked analgesic and recovery effect. RFWN of GB42 exhibited significant analgesic and pain recovery effect. RFWN of GB34 resulted in pain recovery effect but not analgesic effects, and RFWN of GB39 resulted in analgesic effect 2 hours after but not pain recovery. However, WN did not affect the pain recovery among three acupoints at all. Conclusions : In the Grade 3 ankle sprain model, the difference of analgesic effects were explained by the acupoints and the stimulation methods according to the accumulated recovery effects during 7 days. It is insufficient to determine that a certain acupoint has a specific analgesic effect depending on the stimulation method by the results of this study. Therefore, the effects of each stimulation on the acupoints in any other meridians at the sprained ankle should be compared and analyzed.

A 40 Gb/s Clock and Data Recovery Module with Improved Phase-Locked Loop Circuits

  • A 40 Gb/s clock and data recovery (CDR) module for a fiber-optic receiver with improved phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits has been successfully implemented. The PLL of the CDR module employs an improved D-type flip-flop frequency acquisition circuit, which helps to stabilize the CDR performance, to obtain faster frequency acquisition, and to reduce the time of recovering the lock state in the event of losing the lock state. The measured RMS jitter of the clock signal recovered from 40 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence ($2^{31}-1$) data by the improved PLL clock recovery module is 210 fs. The CDR module also integrates a 40 Gb/s D-FF decision circuit, demonstrating that it can produce clean retimed data using the recovered clock.

  • We introduce a rotational decision-directed joint algorithm of blind equalization coupled with carrier recovery for 32-QAM demodulation with high symbol rate. The proposed carrier recovery, which we call a rotational decision-directed carrier recovery(RDDCR), removes the residual phase difference by rotating the decision boundary for the kth received symbol by the frequency detector output of the (k-1)th received symbol. Since the RDDCR includes the function of PLL loop filter by rotating the decision boundary, it gives a simpler demodulator structure. The rotational decision-directed blind equalization(RDDBE) with the rotated decision boundary based on the Stop-and-Go Algorithm(SGA) operated during tracking the frequency offset by the RDDCR and removes intersymbol interference due to multipaths and channel noise. Test results show that symbol error rate of $10^{-3}$ is obtained before the forward error correction when SNR equals 15dB with 150KHz of carrier frequency offset and two multipaths, which is the channel condition for 32-QAM receiver.
