Thick diamond film having $~700\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness was deposited on polycrystalline molybdenum(Mo) substrate using high power (4 kW) microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor depostion (MPECVD) system. We could achieve free-standing diamond film via detaching as-deposited diamond film from the substrate by rapid cooling them under vacuum. We investigated the variation of photoconductivity after exposing the film surface to either oxygen or hydrogen plasma. At as-grown state, the growth side (the as-grown surface of the film) showed noticeable photoconcuctivity. The oxygen plasma treatment of this side led to the insulator. After exposing the film surface to hydrogen plasma, on the other hand, we could observe the reappearing of photoconductivity at the growth side. Based on these results, we suggest that the hydrogen plasma treatment may enhance the photoconductivity of free-standing diamond film.
The conductive link is used as a cooling medium between a cryocooler and magnet in a cryogen-free superconducting magnet system. The low temperature superconducting (LTS) magnet has one solenoidal configuration with a metal former which has a 52 mm room temperature bore. The superconducting coil is installed in the cryostat maintaining high vacuum and cooled by a two-stage cryocooler. In order to maintain the operating temperature of magnet at the designed level, the cold head temperature of the cryocooler must be lower so that heat can be removed from the superconducting coil. Also, temperature difference is occurred between the magnet and cryocooler and its magnitude is dependent upon the contact resistance at the interfacial surface between metals in the conductive link. In the paper, the performance of the LTS magnet is investigated with respect to the conductive link between the magnet former and the cold head of the cryocooler. The effects of the contact pressure and interfacial materials on the temperature distribution along the conductive link are also presented.

Data centers not only consume significant electricity to operate IT equipment, but also use a lot of electricity to cool the heat generated by IT equipment. The waste heat of a high-temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cell (HT-PEFC) is capable of producing cooling , so it can be effectively applied to data centers that require cooling throughout the year. The energy-saving effects of the proposed combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) system using HT-PEFC. That was analyzed based on the annual energy consumption data of a specific data center. When the system was running at 100% of the year, It was shown that the installation of 1 MW of the proposed system can save 3,407 MWh of electrical energy per year. In addition, compared to the existing system, the annual power usage effectiveness can be improved from 2.0 to 1.57 and 6,293 MWh of extra heat energy per year can be produced to sell. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis was performed on the fuel cell operating temperature and current density to guide the appropriate installation capacity of the proposed system.

Single-phase convection and partial nucleate boiling in free-surface and submerged jet impingements of subcooled water ejected through a 2-mm-diameter circular pipe nozzle were investigated by local measurements. Effects of jet velocity and nozzle-to-imping-ing surface distance as well as heat flux on distributions of wall temperature and heat transfer coefficients were considered. Incipience of boiling began from far downstream in contrast with the cases of the planar water jets of high Reynolds numbers. Heat flux increase and velocity decrease reduced the temperature difference between stagnation and far downstream regions with the increasing influence of boiling in partial boiling regime. The chance in nozzle-to-impinging surface distance from H/d=1 to 12 had a significant effect on heat transfer around the stagnation point of the submerged jet, but not for the free-surface jet. The submerged jet provided the lower cooling performance than the free-surface jet due to the entrainment of the pool fluid of which temperature increased.
As hyperboloidal cooling towers (HCTs) growing larger and slender, they become more sensitive to gust wind. To improve the dynamic properties of HCTs and to improve the wind resistance capability, stiffening rings have been studied and applied. Although there have been some findings, the influence mechanism of stiffening rings on the dynamic properties is still not fully understood. Based on some fundamental perceptions on the dynamic properties of HCTs and free ring structures, a concept named "participation degree" of stiffening rings was proposed and the influence mechanism on the dynamic properties was illustrated. The "participation degree" is determined by the modal deform amplitude and latitude wave number of stiffening rings. Larger modal deform amplitude and more latitude waves can both result in higher participation degree and more improvement to eigenfrequencies. Also, this concept can explain and associate the pre-existing independent findings.

Because Impinging jet has excellent heat & mass transfer characteristics. it has many advantages of cooling. drying. etc and widely applied at industrial fields. Therefore, there have been many experimental investigations and theoretical studies about Impinging jet. The present study is about a cooling characteristic by Impinging jet for a Square Plate on Duct and investigated this characteristic through three-dimensions numerical analysis, using FLUENT. As the result of this study, heat transfer effect is the most appropriate condition when the ratio of distance is 6 between nozzle exit diameter and heat source. diameter of duct is 90mm and height of duct is 60mm. In addition. under the influence of injected jet. stagnant fluid flow into free jet field and this affected the whole flow field. So the shape of duct is a important factor and the researcher confirmed the need of investigation about duct.

Deformation analysis of injection molded articles whose geometry is considered as the assembly of thin flat plates has been conducted. For the in-mold analysis, thermo-viscoelastic stress calculation of thermo-rheologically simple amorphous polymer and in-mold deformation calculation considering the in-plane mold constraint have been done. Free volume theory has been used to represent the non-equilibrium density state during the fast cooling. At ejection, instantaneous deformation takes place due to the redistribution of in-mold residual stress. During out-of-mold cooling after ejection, thermoelastic model based on the effective temperature has been adopted for the calculation of out-of-mold deformation. In this study, emphasis is also made on the treatment with regard to lateral constraint types during molding process. Two typical mold geometries are used to test the numerical simulation modeling developed in this study.

An experimental study of jet flow and heat transfer has been carried out for the jet impingement cooling on a semi-circular concave surface. For the jet impingement on the concave surface, three different regions-free jet region, stagnation region, and wall jet flow region-exist, and the distributions of mean velocity and fluctuating velocity for each region have been measured by Laser Doppler Velocimeter. Of particular interests are the effects of jet Reynolds number, the distance between the nozzle exit and cooling surface apex, and the distance from the stagnation point in the circumferential direction. The resulting characteristics of heat transfer at the stagnation point and the variation of heat transfer along the circumferential direction including the existence of secondary peak have been explained in conjunction with measured impinge jet flow.
Because heavy-duty construction vehicles such as excavators are required for good engine-room cooling capacity, a hydraulic gear motor is adopted in the cooling fan drive mechanism to actively control the output speed, instead of adopting the conventional ON/OFF type belt drive. While gear motors are normally limited to 140bars of operating pressure, those for the cooling fan are capable of operating at continuous pressures of up to 220bars. After assembly, all gear motors for high pressure must pass an aging test which is a kind of the wearing process between the gear teeth and motor housing. During the aging process with gradual pressure increments, gear sticking sometimes occurs due to abnormal wear, resulting in defects. This paper focuses on a gear-sticking free aging test controller that is designed together with the knowledge of an experienced operator and the analysis results of experimental data of the gear jamming phenomenon. From the aging experiment, it is demonstrated that the developed controller that can alter the setting pressure of the load pump is effective for stabilizing the abrupt increase in the motor input pressure, thus preventing the hydraulic motor from stopping. This is expected to be helpful for the reduction of defects and increase in productivity.
The microstructural change and transformation characteristics with cooling rate i.e. wheel speed were investigated in 82.8wt%Cu-12.8wt%Al-4.3wt%Ni SMA ribbons fabricated by melt-spinning. The thickness and width of ribbon were decreased with increasing wheel speed, while the uniformity of it was improved. At same wheel speed, the grain size of the contact surface of ribbon was smaller than that of free surface. The mean grain size was decreased with increasing wheel speed, resulted in obtaining grains with $3{\mu}m$ in mean diameter in the wheel speed of 30 m/s. However, micro-voids and cracks at grain boundary could be observed at higher wheel speed. $M_s$ and $A_s$ temperatures were decreased, and $M_s{\sim}M_f$ and $A_s{\sim}A_f$ temperature ranges were broadened with increasing wheel speed. All the ribbons were retained the ordered $D0_3$ due to rapid cooling, the volume fraction of it was increased with increasing wheel speed.
