  • In this paper, a level set based energy functional is proposed, the minimization of which results in simultaneous reference background image modeling and foreground segmentation. Due to the mutual constraint of the two processes, a good estimate of the background can be obtained with a small number of frames, and due to the use of the level set, an Euler-Lagrange equation that directly solves the problem can be derived.

  • This paper presents a variable block size motion estimation (ME) algorithm and hardware architectures dedicated to H.264/AVC. Proposed ME architecture can achieve real-time processing for 720$\times$480@30Hz with search range of [-64, +63] in the horizontal and [-32, +31] in the vertical direction at integer-pel accuracy and upto 7 reference frames at the operating frequency of 54MHz.

  • This paper describes first Boxes algorithm as a good method to generate the pulse patterns for a pulse width modulated inverter which has a good characteristics and simple to excute. Second we present the motor analysis fed by P.W.M. inverter in steady-state operation. In this analysis we improve the MRF ( Multiple Reference Frames ) to can be easy apply to analyse all the induction motor parameters. Finally we presented all the results obtained for a 3-phase induction motor.

  • We report an investigation of BOES imaging performance variation against observational variables. Average FWHM of the ThAr reference spectra recorded in 10 spectral image frames observed during the night of January 5th, 2004 was computed. The averaged FWHM data was then correlated with observational variables including telescope altitude, air mass, focus position, exposure time, detector temperature, gain settings and S/N ratio.   • An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)-based Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) can calculate attitude and heading information with long-term accuracy and stability by combining gyro, accelerometer, and magnetic compass signals. Motivated by this characteristic of the AHRS, this paper presents a Motion-Tracking and Localization (MTL) method for a person or walking robot using multi-AHRSs. Five AHRSs are attached to the two calves, two thighs, and waist of a person/walking robot. Joints, links, and coordinate frames are defined on the body. The outputs of the AHRSs are integrated with link data. In addition, a supporting foot is distinguished from a moving foot. With this information, the locations of the joints on the local coordinate frame are calculated. The experimental results show that the presented MTL method can track the motion of and localize a person/walking robot with long-term accuracy in an infra-less environment.

  • Even though digital video coding techniques have been developed very rapidly, rate controlling is still an unsolved problem. This paper presents a new scene adaptive video encoding scheme for MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video encoders. Degradation of picture quality at scene changes due to poor prediction of global complexity measure is addressed. The proposed scheme determines the picture types adaptively based on scene contents of each video frame. The effective placement of reference and inter-reference frames is studied at sudden scene changes and gradual scene changes respectively. Results show that the proposed scheme demonstrates a significant improvement in performance compared to TM5〔1〕.

  • `파노라믹 영상'이라 함은 관련 있는 여러 영상들을 정합함으로써 하나의 새로운 영상으로 생성하는 것을 말하는데 흔히 '모자이크 영상' 이라고도 한다. 본 논문에서는 카메라를 통해서 데이터를 입력 받는다. 따라서 카메라 파라미터의 인식을 위해서 원근모델을 이용하는데, 프레임 사이의 불일치 측정 방법을 제시하여 불일치를 최소화 하였다. 또한 파노라믹 영상을 생성하기 위하여 고정된 참조와 시간에 따라 변하는 참조를 파노라믹 영상으로 제작하는 방법을 제시한다.

H.26L을 위한 다차원 에러 은닉 기법 (Multi-Hypothesis Error Concealment Algorithm for H.26L Video)

  • 본 논문은 다차원(multi-hypothesis) 기법을 이용한 에러 은닉 알고리듬(error concealment algorithm)을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리듬은 손실된 블록(block)을 보상하기 위해서, 이전 프레임에서 두 개 이상의 블록을 선택하여 각각에 가중치를 적용한 후. 중첩을 수행함으로써 손실된 블록을 보상한다. 참조되는 블록과 가중치 계수를 정하기 위해서 세 가지 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법들을 H.26L 동영상 표준에 기반 하여 구현하였으며. 각각의 성능은 모의 전산 실험을 통하여 비교되었다. 제안하는 다 차원 에러 은닉 기법은 기존의 한 개의 프레임만을 이용하는 방법에 비해서 약 1.5㏈의 PSNR 성능 향상이 있음을 확인한다.

  • This paper describes a system fur tracking multiple faces in an input video sequence using facial convex hull based facial segmentation and robust hausdorff distance. The algorithm adapts skin color reference map in YCbCr color space and hair color reference map in RGB color space for classifying face region. Then, we obtain an initial face model with preprocessing and convex hull. For tracking, this algorithm computes displacement of the point set between frames using a robust hausdorff distance and the best possible displacement is selected. Finally, the initial face model is updated using the displacement. We provide an example to illustrate the proposed tracking algorithm, which efficiently tracks rotating and zooming faces as well as existing multiple faces in video sequences obtained from CCD camera.
