The current paper proposes a genetic algorithm (GA)-based segmentation method that can automatically extract and track moving objects. The proposed method mainly consists of spatial and temporal segmentation; the spatial segmentation divides each frame into regions with accurate boundaries, and the temporal segmentation divides each frame into background and foreground areas. The spatial segmentation is performed using chromosomes that evolve distributed genetic algorithms (DGAs). However, unlike standard DGAs, the chromosomes are initiated from the segmentation result of the previous frame, then only unstable chromosomes corresponding to actual moving object parts are evolved by mating operators. For the temporal segmentation, adaptive thresholding is performed based on the intensity difference between two consecutive frames. The spatial and temporal segmentation results are then combined for object extraction, and tracking is performed using the natural correspondence established by the proposed spatial segmentation method. The main advantages of the proposed method are twofold: First, proposed video segmentation method does not require any a priori information second, the proposed GA-based segmentation method enhances the search efficiency and incorporates a tracking algorithm within its own architecture. These advantages were confirmed by experiments where the proposed method was success fully applied to well-known and natural video sequences.

The detection method of curves for the lanes which is powerful for the variation by utilizing the lane variation vector and cardinal spline on the inverse perspective transformation screen images which do not required the camera parameters are suggested in this paper. This method detects the lane area by setting the expected lane area in the s frame and next s+1 frame where the inverse perspective transformation and entire process of the lane filter are adapted, and expects the points of lane location in the next frames with the lane variation vector calculation from the detected lane areas. The scan area is set from the nextly expected lane position and new lane positions are detected within these areas, and the lane variation vectors are renewed with the detected lane position and the lanes are detected with application of cardinal spline for the control points inside the lane areas. The suggested method is a powerful method for curved lane detection, but it was adopted to the linear lanes too. It showed an excellent lane detection speed of about 20ms in processing a frame.
Prospect Hill Virus (PHV) is the well known serotype of hantavirus, a newly established genus in family Bunyaviridae. Extensive studies have upheld the original view of PHV genetics with three genes such as nucleocapsid (N) protein, envelope proteins (G1, G2) and RNA dependent RNA polymerase. In this study, we report the existence of additional gene that is encoded in an overlapping reading frame of the N protein gene within S genome segment of PHV. This gene is expected to encode a nonstructural small (NSs) protein and it seems to be only found in PHV infected cell. The presence and synthesis of NSs protein could be demonstrated in the cell infected with PHV using anti-peptide sera specific to the predicted amino acid sequence deduced from the second open reading frame. Ribosomal synthesis of this protein appears to occur at AUG codon at the 83rd base of S genome segment, downstream of N protein initiation codon. This protein is small in size (10.4 KDa) and highly basic in nature. The expression strategy of NSs protein appears that a signal mRNA is used to translate both N and NSs protein in PHV infected cell. 10 KDa protein in virus infected cell lysates can bind to mimic dsRNA. This fact strongly suggests that NSs protein may be involved in virus replication on late phase of viral life cycle.

Food consumption pattern changes, including a decrease in rice consumption and increasing demand for fresh vegetables, along with declining food self-sufficiency rate, more importance is being placed on agricultural industry within Korea. Taking these changes into consideration, there is an increasing necessity for managing upland fields on agricultural sector to revitalize agricultural land use. Therefore, in this study, upland use type was classified into agricultural economic, environmental conservation, and rural social frames. The purpose of this study was to suggest upland use plan with farm manager registration information and spatial data. As results of this analysis, the mean area of agricultural economic frame in Haenam (16.47 ha) was found to be wider than Muan (3.17 ha), and scale improvement zones (54 zones) were located in only Haenam. In case of environmental conservation frame, there's no zone of scenic agriculture land in both study areas, but landuse transition zones were located in Muan (278 zones) and Haenam (604 zones). Agro-healing zones of rural social frame were 1,018 zones in Muan and 1,588 zones in Haenam and kitchen garden sites were 342 zones in Muan and 370 zones in Haenam. These results could be used when we establish the plan of an agricultural infrastructure project or select places for a collaborative agricultural land use project.
The purpose of this study is to analyze genre differentiation in digital games and examine the changing characteristics of core genre elements. Especially this study focuses on the aspect that how players recognize genre differentiation based on the conceptual blending theory. The evolution of the genre does not end with decline or extinction. The genre keeps being divided into sub-genres through partial use of genre elements. The differentiation of the genre results from the principle of frame confrontation or expansion with a parent genre. Rogue-like games are differentiated from Role-playing games by frame conflict, while Metroidvania games are differentiated from Platform adventure games by frame expansion. In the former case, the core genre elements are independent and easily combined with other genres. For example, the core mechanism of Rogue-like genre like 'perma-death' or 'procedural generation' has a decisive effect on the differentiation of the game experience become an independent genre element. In the latter case of Metroidvania, the core genre elements strongly reveals context dependency and are difficult to use outside the genre convention. The core mechanism of Metroidvania is 'backtracking' in the labyrinth style map, but it could be effective genre element within the specific context like side-scrolling action-platformer.
In a speech coding system using excitation source of voiced and unvoiced, it would be involved a distortion of speech quality in case coexist with a voiced and unvoiced consonants in a frame. So, I propose TSIUVC(Transition Segment Including Unvoiced Consonant) extraction method by using pitch pulses and Zero Crossing Rate in order to unexistent with a voiced and unvoiced consonants in a frame. And this paper present a TSIUVC approximate-synthesis method by using frequency band division. As a result, this method obtains a high quality approximation-synthesis waveform within TSIUVC by using frequency information of 0.547kHz below and 2.813kHz above. And the TSIUVC extraction rate was $91\%$ for female voice and $96.2\%$ for male voice respectively This method has the capability of being applied to a new speech coding of Voiced/Silence/TSIUVC, speech analysis, and speech synthesis.

A numerical analysis of a compressor dehumidifier has been conducted focusing on the air side heat transfer, which is a part of a series research on the dehumidifier. The moving reference frame was applied to the fan modeling, and the porous model was used for the evaporator and condenser modeling. Curve fitting obtained the inertial and viscous resistances parameters to the results of the physical model of the unit cell with actual shape of a fin tube. The porous model was validated within a reasonable computation time for the range of practical inlet velocity of a dehumidifier. A parametric study has been conducted for fin number, fan speed (i.e., air flow rate), and evaporator/condenser tube arrangement. ANOVA analysis showed the dependency of each parameter on the velocity and temperature uniformity, which are desirable for high performance of the dehumidifier.
A superconductor flywheel energy storage system (SFES) is an electro-mechanical battery which transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy for storage, and vice versa. A 35 kWh class SFES module was designed and constructed as part of a 100kWh/1MW class SFES composed of three 35 kWh class SFES modules. The 35 kWh class SFES is composed of a main frame, superconductor bearings, a composite flywheel, a motor/generator, electro-magnetic bearings, and a permanent magnet bearing. The high energy density composite flywheel is levitated by the permanent magnet bearing and superconductor bearings, while being spun by the motor/generator, and the electro-magnetic bearings are activated while passing through the critical speeds. Each of the main components was designed to provide maximum performance within a space-limited compact frame. The 35 kWh class SFES is designed to store 35 kWh, with a 350 kW charge/discharge capacity, in the 8,000 ~ 12,000 rpm operational speed range.

The reinforced-concrete multi-story shear-wall structure, which can free a building from beams and columns to allow the planning of a vast room, has increasingly been used in Japan as a high-rise reinforced-concrete structure. Since this structural system concentrates the seismic force onto multi-story shear walls inside, the bending deformation of the walls may cause excessive deformation on the upper floors during an earthquake. However, it is possible to control the bending deformation to within a certain level by setting high-strength and rigid beams (outriggers) at the top of the multi-story shear walls; these outriggers restrain the bending behavior of the walls. Moreover, it is possible to achieve high energy dissipation by placing vibration control devices on the outriggers and thus restrain the bending behavior. This paper outlines the earthquake response analysis of a high-rise residential tower to demonstrate the effectiveness of the outrigger frame incorporating vibration control devices.
A novel single phase Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is proposed in this paper to accurately and rapidly estimate the instantaneous phase angle of a grid. A conjugate rotating vector pair is proposed and defined to synthesize the single phase signal in the stationary reference frame. With this concept, the proposed PLL innovatively sets one phase input of the PARK transformation to a constant zero. By means of a proper cancellation, a zero steady state phase angle estimation error can be achieved, even under magnitude and frequency variations. The proposed PLL structure is presented together with guidelines for parameters adjustment. The performance of the proposed PLL is verified by comprehensive experiments. Satisfactory phase angle estimation can be achieved within one input signal cycle, and the estimation error can be totally eliminated in four input cycles for the most severe conditions.
