  • The projection approximation subspace tracking (PAST) is one of the attractive subspace tracking algorithms, because it estimates the signal subspace adaptively and continuously. Furthermore, the computational complexity is relatively low. However, the algorithm still has room for improvement in the subspace estimation accuracy. FE-PAST (Forward-Backward PAST) is one of the results from the improvement studies. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to improve the orthogonality of the FB-PAST (Forward-Backward PAST).

  • In the present paper forward projection is proposed as a new approach to determine the preform shape in rib-web type forging. In the forward projection technique an optimal billet is determined by applying some mathematical relationship between geometrical trials in the initial billet shape and the final products. In forward projection a volume difference between the desired product shape and the final computed shape obtained by the rigid-plastic finite element method is used as a measure of incomplete filling of working material in the die. At first linear inter-/extrapolation is employed to find a proper trial shape for the initial billet and the method is successfully applied to some cases of different aspect ratios of the initial billet. However, when the initial guesses are not sufficiently near the optimal value linear inter-/extrapolation does not render complete die filling. For more general application, a fuzzy system is used in the forward projection technique in order to determine the initial billet shape for rib-web type forging. It has been thus shown that the fuzzy system is more reliable for the preform design in the rib-web type forging process.

  • In this paper, we propose a correlation-based subspace estimation technique, which is called square-root forward/backward correlation-based projection approximation subspace tracking(SRFB-COPAST). The SRFB-COPAST utilizes the forward and backward correlation matrix as well as square-root recursive matrix update in projection approximation approach to develop the subspace tracking algorithm. With the projection approximation, the square-root recursive FB-COPAST is presented. The proposed algorithm has the better performance than the recently developed COPAST method.

  • This study describes the time domain imaging algorithm which can be well applied to short-range UWB(ultra wideband) bistatic radar. In the imaging method of SAR technology, the frequency domain method is well applied to the areas which satisfy far-field condition. However in the near-field environment, the image quality is not good due to phase error. However back-projection method based on time domain is well applied to short-range imaging radar. Meanwhile because its processing time is very long, real time-processing is very difficult. To resolve this problem FFBP(Fast Factorized Back-Projection) was proposed. Using the raw data gathered on field we implemented back-projection and FFBP method. Then image quality and processing time were analyzed using these methods.

  • Back-propagation(BP) algorithm needs a lot of time to train the artificial neural network (ANN) to get high accuracy level in classification tasks. So there have been extensive researches to process back-propagation algorithm on parallel processors. This paper prsents a linear systolic array which calculates forward-backward propagation of BP algorithm at the same time using effective space-time transformation and PE structure. First, we analyze data flow of forwared and backward propagations and then, represent the BP algorithm into data dapendency graph (DG) which shows parallelism inherent in the BP algorithm. Next, apply space-time transformation on the DG of ANN is turn with orthogonal direction projection. By doing so, we can get a snakelike systolic array. Also we calculate the interval of input for parallel processing, calculate the indices to make the right datas be used at the right PE when forward and bvackward propagations are processed in the same PE. And then verify the correctness of output when forward and backward propagations are executed at the same time. By doing so, the proposed system maximizes parallelism of BP algorithm, minimizes th enumber of PEs. And it reduces the execution time by 2 times through making idle PEs participate in forward-backward propagation at the same time.

  • To analyze the grain transport velocity, which is valuable for optimizing the separation losses, an oscillating appratus for sieve was designed. The grain transport velocity was measured in each combination of three amplitude levels, three rpm levels and four projection angle levels. To analyze the grain transport velocity theortically, two computer programs were developed. And the results from experiment and theoretical analysis were compared. 1. The grain transport velocity was increased with the projection angle of oscillating sieve. Especially when the projection angle is higher than $45^{\circ}$ the grain transport velocity on the flat-plate was not increased but on the racked surface was increased persistently. 2. The grain transport velocity was increased linearly with the frequency of oscillating motion. The speed of driving link must be higher than 350 rpm at 24mm amplitude, 250 rpm at 36 mm amplitude to transport the grain efficiently. 3. The grain transport velocity was increased with the amplitude of oscillating motion. But if the amplitude was smaller than interval of racks, the grain on the racked surface was not transported, even though the projection angle or the speed of revolutionary link was increased. 4. The transport characteristics of a grain varied with the amplitude and projection angle. Especially in the range of 1.5 < K < 2.3 at $45^{\circ}$ projection angle the transportation of grain was successful and the grain motion consisted of sliding movement (forward, backward) and jumping movement, which is considered recommendable for separating process of a combine sieve. 5. The results from theoretical analysis were approximately in accord with that from experiment.

  • Because of the wide plane and the curved field of CRT rear projection high definition television, its MTF(modulation transfer function) can't be easily measured by the usual forward testing method. Then we propose a backward testing method for the MTF so that the object plane and the image analyzer of forward testing are located at positions opposite each other. We prefer to use the backward testing method because the forward testing method has poor accuracy caused by very small numerical aperture, low spatial resolutions, and long depth of focus. We found that the backward testing method was very easy to align and had high repeatability. We confirmed the confidence of results obtained by the backward testing method in comparison with designed results.

  • Using qualitative methods of interviewing, documentation, and participant observation, this study explored kindergarten children's understanding on their transition into elementary school. Phenomenologically, results showed that children understood that the transition into elementary school means thrownness (Geworfenheit) and projection (Entwurf). When children answered the question about why they want to go to elementary school, their responses demonstrated an understanding of the inevitability (thrownness) of transition. That is, they understood that entering elementary school was an unavoidable step for growing up. They expected(projected) that they would enjoy new activities and opportunities in elementary school. While they felt anxious about stem teachers and difficult studies, they looked forward to intellectual development, various indoor activities, outdoor exercises, and multi-layered encounters.

  • In this paper, an incoherent imaging of a conducting cylinder illuminated by the single-frequency time-harmonic plane wave is obtained via the back-projections of the intensity patterns of the forward total electric field scattered from this object in the circular rotational measurement configuration. The pheonmenon that interference fringes generated in the itesity patterns is removed in the back-projection process is interpreted numerically. This imaging method is validated by imagining conducting circular cylinders and the conditions to ge beter image are investigated.
