  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a breastfeeding support program (BSP) on the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding and growth in late-preterm infants. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted. The participants were 40 late preterm infants (LPIs), of whom 20 were assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group. For the mothers in the experimental group, a BSP was provided prior to the LPIs' discharge and reinforced once a week for 4 weeks. Information on the feeding type was collected by observation and the LPIs' body weight was measured. Results: There were significant differences in feeding type by group and time. Exclusive breastfeeding was 5.18 times more common in the experimental group than in the control group (odds ratio=5.18, 95% confidence interval=1.11~16.70). However, weekly weight gain did not show a significant relationship with group and time (F=0.40, p=.712). Conclusion: The BSP was helpful for increasing the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in LPIs. Furthermore, the LPIs in the experimental group, which had a higher likelihood of being exclusively breastfed, showed an equivalent amount of weight gain as the LPIs in the control group, in which infants were more likely to be formula-fed.

  • This work aims to derive data-based requirements by analyzing the importance and performance of media literacy in early childhood animations. For this, a survey was conducted on parents with young children after drawing questions of assessment items through expert focus group interviews (FGI). The analytical instruments, Borich Needs Formula formulation and The Locus for Focus Model were used together to improve accuracy. Based on the results, it is meaningful in that it recognized the demand of the inmates for children's education animation and prepared systematic indicators for it.

  • Researchers in science and technology has broadened the scope of research in order to solve complex problems, academic exchange has also been actively carried out. If the paper which is a mean of interdisciplinary approach has a limited term and the formula, it can act as barriers to access for many researchers in various fields. This paper proposes a cross-validation method for eliminating documentary barriers based on discrete event system formalism. We expect that our proposed method will improve a cross-validation considering researchers in another fields.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the selection difference of mathematical problem solving strategy by mathematical learning style, that is, the intellectual, emotional, and physiological factors of students, to allow teachers to instruct the mathematical problem solving strategy most pertinent to the student personality, and ultimately to contribute to enhance mathematical problem solving ability of the students. The conclusion of the study is the followings: (1) Students who studies with autonomous, steady, or understanding-centered effort was able to solve problems with more strategies respectively than the students who did not; (2) Student who studies autonomously or reconfirms one's learning was able to select more proper strategy and to explain the strategy respectively than the students who did not; and (3) The differences of the preference to the strategy are variable, and more than half of the students were likely to select frequently the strategy 'to use a formula or a principle' regardless of the learning style.

  • A novel impedance model is proposed fur the rectangular power plane along with the analytic impedance expression derived from it. The power plane is modeled as a section of a rectangular waveguide with appropriate boundary conditions around its periphery. As a result, the derived impedance expression based on the proposed model has the one-dimensional series form, which is simpler and computationally more efficient than the existing formula based on cavity model of the power plane.

  • Let (X, G) be a transformation group and ${\sigma}(X,x_0,G)$ the fundamental group of (X, G). In this paper, we prove that the Reidemeister number $R(f_G)$ for an endomorphism $f_G:(X,G){\rightarrow}(X,G)$ is a homotopy invariant. In particular, when any self-map $f:X{\rightarrow}X$ is homotopic to the identity map, we give some calculation of the lower bound of $R(f_G)$. Finally, we discuss commutativity and product formula for the Reidemeister number $R(f_G)$.

  • The survey on feeding practice in 202 infants in Kwangju area was undertaken from April to May, 1993. The incidence of breast feeding was 35.6% of the interviewed mothers while 35.1% of infants were formula fed. Baby's sex, birth order, birth weight and mother's educational level did not affect the infant's feeding method of the respondents , but family's monthly income affect it significantly(p<0.05). Initiating time f weaning in infants was 4.83 month. Fruits and fruit juice, infant's most favorite food were the first food introduced to infants. Cereal's were offered frequently as infant foods while animal protein source and vegetables were lesser used 52.8% of mothers purchased commercially prepared infant food , while 33.2% of them did not use it at all. Depending on mother's educational level, mother got information on weaning with the aid of different education materials. The respondents were most interested in the way how to prepare weaning food. It might be suggested that development of effective nutrition education technique specific to the different groups of mothers should be focused.

  • This article introduces a proposed lesson to help younger or lower level mathematics students conceptualize area. The objective for the proposed lesson was for the student to demonstrate an understanding of the concept of area by identifying the area, in square units, of polygons drawn on computer dot board constructed by computer software, Geometer's Sketchpad. The concept of covering is the key to develop the concept of the area. The article proceeded from rectangular figures, to right-triangular figures, to non-right triangular figures, then to polygons to find the area and develop the formula for the area of the figures. It is meaningful that this kind of materials can be developed within interactive computer environment since students feel successful in loaming and teachers use them directly in their measurement classes.

  • Bolted connector could be an alternative to replace the conventional welded headed stud in steel-ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) lightweight composite structures. In this paper, a novel demountable bolted shear connector, consisting of a high-strength bolt (HSB) and a specially-designed nut which is pre-embedded in a thin UHPC slab, is proposed, which may result in the quick installation and disassembly, due to the mountable, demountable and reusable features. In order to study the shear behavior of the new type of bolted shear connector, static push-out tests were conducted on five groups of the novel demountable bolted shear connector specimens and one group of conventional welded headed stud specimen for comparison. The effect of the bolt shank diameter and aspect ratio of bolt on failure mode, shear stiffness, peak slip at the steel-UHPC interface, shear strength and ductility of novel bolted connectors is investigated. Additionally, design formula for the shear strength is proposed to check the suitability for assessment of the novel demountable bolted shear connectors.

  • Schisandrae chinensis (Omija) is traditionally used as a food-based medicinal/pharmaceutical resources including antidiabetic agent in worldwide. In this study, the optimal combined formula of Omija extract and soybean mixture (OSM) were investigated for its effects on type 2 diabetes model expressed in in Vitro and in Vivo animal model. Using whole extracts, we confirmed inhibitory effects to α-glucosidase, α-amylase and the DPPH scavenging in Vitro and examined glucose tolerance in mice. The combined optimum formulation of OSM were significantly ameliorated type 2 diabetes-related. Furthermore, activation of p-Akt, p-AMPK, p-IRS and GLUT2 expression level is pivotal roles of in this anti-diabetic molecular mechanism on in Vivo without side effects. Therefore, these results suggest that OSM is good resources for improves of type 2 diabetes and its complications.
