The purposes of this article are segmenting consumers by brand attachment motives and discovering the differences among the segmented groups in relation to clothing involvement and clothing behavior (ready-to-wear satisfaction, brand loyalty, purchased items, and purchased places). The subjects of this study were male and female consumers, who were residents in Seoul, Korea. The data had been collected during May, 2007, and statistical analyses used for the study were factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-test, and chi-square test. The results showed that brand attachment motive is composed of two factors: brand personality/individuality expression and conformity/status improvement. Based on cluster analysis, there were two brand attachment motive groups: individuality expression and status improvement segments. T-test showed that brand attachment motive segments were significantly different in terms of clothing involvement and clothing behavior (ready-to-wear satisfaction, brand loyalty and purchased items). For example, the individuality expression group was more interested in clothing, was more satisfied with ready-to-wear clothing, had higher brand loyalty, and usually purchased casual wear. Meanwhile, the status improvement group had a higher perceived risk in clothing involvement, was less satisfied with ready-to-wear clothing, had a lower degree of brand loyalty, and preferred to purchase formal wear. The results implied that brand attachment motive is an important variable in market segmentation, in which specific marketing strategies should be implemented for each targeted consumers.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of internet shopping interest, fashion interest, sex on internet clothing purchase intention and selection criteria. The subjects used for the study were 76 male and l25 female college students. The clothing purchase intention was measured by five categories: formal wear, casual wear, sports wear, under wear, and fashion accessories. The clothing selection criteria consisted of four factors: aesthetics, conformity, individuality, and comfort. The results showed that there was a main effect of internet shopping interest on internet purchase intention fur all clothing categories. Also, there were differences between men and women concerning the purchase intention of casual wear and sports wear. In regard to clothing selection criteria, the results showed that fashion interest and sur had an impact on three factors of clothing selection criteria. The subjects considered aesthetics, conformity, and individuality important when they had higher fashion interest or were female. In addition to main effects, the interaction effects among internet shopping interest fashion interest, and sex were discussed.
The purpose of this study is to test the performance of the recommended summer dressing for office man through the analysis of skin temperature changes by air-conditioning temperature. We tested two clothing combinations; formal wear with necktie and casual shirts without necktie as for Cool mapsi. 4 male subjects sat to stabilize for thirty minutes after entering artificial-climate chamber with both temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, $27^{\circ}C$ and $50{\pm}10%$ R.H. And during 60 minute experiments of simulating office work, the subjective feelings including thermal, humidity and comfort sensation, skin temperature, clothing humidity and sweat amount were measured at the equal intervals. The result is that formal wear of $25^{\circ}C$ and Cool mapsi of $27^{\circ}C$ show good values such as low skin temperature, low clothing humidity and neutral thermal sensation. And Cool mapsi of $25^{\circ}C$ shows the risk of low rectal temperature for long and static energy level of office work. Formal wear of $27^{\circ}C$ shows high values of mean skin temperature, clothing humidity and thermal sensation. Second experiment was to find the ambient temperature when the subject wearing formal wear shows the skin temperature corresponding to which he shows on Cool mapsi of $27^{\circ}C$. The air-conditioning temperature on wearing formal wear has to be $2^{\circ}C$ lower to produce the corresponding skin temperature to which shows on wearing Cool mapsi of $27^{\circ}C$. Therefore it is possible to increase room temperature to $27^{\circ}C$, when wear Cool mapsi for summer office, for skin temperature and thermal sensation are produced the same.
The research of the current situation of made-to-measure production by ready-made men's suit companies was done by interviewing and surveying the made-to-measure specialists. It was apparent that most frequently purchased items in Mass Customization were jackets of formal dress. The results of the research on the current situation of Mass Customization by ready-made clothes companies were as follows. The Mass Customization accounted for 3∼10%. The advantages of Mass Customization were more acceptable sizes, designs and details while the initial reasons for it were unusual physical figures and designs. The posture of a customer during measuring turned out to be critical enough to influence fitness after production. The companies in the research were found out to have materials for Mass Customization in storage and the sizes and other data of fixed circle of customers who would want Mass Customization saved in computer in most of the cases.
This study analyzed the fabrics of Chima, Jeogori of the 20th century. It was based on Kyungwoon Museum relics, newspaper articles and photographs. This research focused on the transition process that has been organized into three stages. The first stage is from the opening of a port to the colonial period in Korea. By this time, the casual wear Hanbok was made with the traditional cotton and woolen textiles in addition to quite a lot of upscale clothing textiles. Stage two is from 1970s to the period after the liberation and Western Costumes represent the time of when the suit was mixed. At the time of the war, due to social and economic difficulties, convenience and practicality were emphasized rather than focusing on aesthetic characteristics. Third period is from the 1980s to the 1990s when the Hanbok was no longer considered a casual wear. Instead, its high quality and elegance redefined it to be a formal wear.
The purpose of this study is to identify the ritual dress used by the 12 religious bodies of Dankun followers to help understand the teachings of these currently operating religious groups in Korea. The findings from the survey and related literatures are used to analyze the characteristics of these ritual dresses in terms of their items, construction, form, and color. The results of the study are as follows: first, most of the religious groups of Dankun followers have established the code for ritual dresses and they are named as 'chaebok'(제복, sacrificial robes), 'yebok'(예복, ceremonial dress), 'chungbok'(정복, formal attire), 'pubbok'(법복, Buddhist formal dress), or 'tobok'(도복, Taoist garments). The official headgear is usually named as 'chaemo'(제모), 'soogun'(수건), 'moja'(모자), or 'yoogun'(유건, 儒巾). Though, there are some groups which do not use any specific names for headgear. Second, the ritual dresses of most groups are composed of the 'hanbok'(한복,韓服) or usual Western-style dress, a traditional outer wear, 'po'(포,袍), and a headgear, as a basic attire. Third, the traditional 'hanbok' is worn as a base garment and an outer wear is worn above. The different types of outer wear are used: mostly 'chaksu jueui jikyoun po'(착수주의직령포, 窄袖周衣直領袍) for men and 'kwangsu jikyoung po'(광수직령포, 廣袖直領袍) and other various styles for women. The headgear from the ancient times are worn by both men and women. Fourth, the most frequently-used color for ritual dress is white for both men and women's dress. The colors from the Yin and Yang ideology are also used in the ritual dresses. Finally, the kinds of materials are not considered as an important element for the ritual dresses.
The type of product and consumer characteristis have known to play an important role in the post-purchase behavior. The issue related to the effects of clothing type and sex on the process of consumer satisfaction formation, would be helpful to understand the past-purchase consumer behavior. Therefore, the objective of this study was to clarify differences in the process of satisfaction formation in relation to clothing type and sex. The study was conducted in three steps. Through the two steps, measurement instruments were developed. At the last step, judgement sampling method was utilized to collect the data and subjects were 614 university students. Factor analysis and path analysis were used to analyze the data. The process of consumer satisfaction formation in formal wear and casual wear showed some differences. In the case of format wear, only expressive product performance was found to play an important role in the process of consumer satisfaction formation. However in the case of casual wear, both expressive and instrumental product performances had influence upon clothing satisfaction directly or through consumption emotion. The results revealed a similar tendency in the process of satisfaction formation between male and female groups. However in the male group the consumption emotion had a greater effect on the process of consumer satisfaction formation than in the female group it did.
The purpose of this study is to identify the design features appropriate for the altered physical characteristics of pregnant women and formulate the direction of future design and development of maternity wear. A Delphi research method based on a panel of experts and pregnant women was used and the survey was conducted to determine the suitability of maternity wear. The survey found that A-line silhouette outerwear with round necklines, with wide sleeves and snap-button fastening on the front with a formal and decent look was considered appropriate as maternity and postpartum wear. Shirts and blouses long enough to cover the hip area to complement women's curvy and full figures, especially around the bust, waist, and hip areas during the later stages of pregnancy were found to be appropriate. Calf-length pleated skirts were comfortable to wear during pregnancy due to the abundant freedom of movement and space offered by pleats. Ankle-length straight leg pants were rated appropriate in terms of comfort and style both during late stages of pregnancy and at work postpartum. Dresses decorated with pleats from the armholes all the way down to the knees were found to provide high levels of comfort at the abdomen, chest, and hips, and considered appropriate. Based on this study results, a follow-up study will be conducted to examine the design of maternity wear during pregnancy as well as at work after pregnancy.

Young people have got to like 'party' and 'attending parties' is considered 'reflection of trendy lifestyle' nowadays. The more party experiences they have, the more party wear styles get various and detail. They want different styles for the next party and it stimulates designers to create something new. We now realize that the party has become popular with an increased market demand for party wear. In addition, we analyze dress styles according to party types to suggest a new dress style to satisfy consumer needs. We suggest two ways to research party wear industry conditions in Korea. Off-line shop managers need to offer practical and various designs for a good price according to party types that make distinctions between on-line and off-line shops. On-line shop managers need to use better materials and develop better service. Considering an analysis of dress style according to party types, an elegant style is good for a formal dinner party and an evening party. A romantic style is good for a season party (such as a New Year's party, a Valentines party and a Christmas party) and a chic style is good for a music party (such as a classic party, jazz party and pop-era party). In addition, the result of a dress style analysis according to party types can be used for the tip for the development of designs to come in the party wear market as well as for a dress style guide to the partiers.
