This research is progressed on the premise that there is a basic rule to organize a space in form generation process. In this study first, antecedent researches are inquired, and formal vocabularies related with form generation in space design are founded. Generally in the organizing process of spatial form designer could have selectively combined formal vocabularies consciously or unconsciously, and these formal vocabularies related with form generation are classified with 'formal elements' and 'spatial relationships'. First, as formal elements '2-dimensional line elements(rectilinear, oblique-linear, curvilinear)' are chosen. Second, formal vocabularies of 'spatial relationships' are 37 extracted from literatures related with architectural language or spatial language. Among them there are several vocabularies with similar or same meaning, they are unitized to representative one. Thereupon 20 vocabularies are finally selected as the formal vocabularies of 'spatial relationships', they are addition, subtraction, intersection, superimposition, juxtaposition, shifting, rotation, reflection, scaling, stretching, shear, bending, folding, distortion, articulation, deconstruction, symmetry, repetition, proportion, and asymmetry.
Our paper is devoted to the study of certain diophantine equations on the ring of polynomials over a finite field, which are intimately related to algebraic formal power series which have partial quotients of unbounded degree in their continued fraction expansion. In particular it is shown that there are Pisot formal power series with degree greater than 2, having infinitely many large partial quotients in their simple continued fraction expansions. This generalizes an earlier result of Baum and Sweet for algebraic formal power series.
Since speaking is correlated with time and time is metaphorically conceptualized in terms of space, it is natural for us to conceptualize language metaphorically in terms of space. For example, we think that the future is in front and the past is behind. Reddy(1979) suggested in his conduit metaphor that linguistic expressions are containers. According to him, the speaker puts his ideas(objects) into words{containers)and sends them along a conduit to a hearer who takes the idea(object) out of the word(container). As a result we are able to know that the larger linguistic expressions have more meaning in it. In other words the space of a linguistic form has close relationship with meaning. Moreover we are able to see that formal distance between arguments or elements of linguistic expressions shows semantic influences between them. If two elements keep close distance, a preceeding element has a strong, direct and whole influence upon the following element. Sometimes even the results of the influence can be brought out implicitly by the formal relation between two elements. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to show that tins difference in meaning which is due to formal distance of sentence elements can be explained by the metaphorical concept presented by Lakoff and Johnson(1980).
STPA (System-Theoretic Process Analysis) is a widely used safety analysis technique to identify UCAs (Unsafe Control Actions) resulting in potential losses. It is totally dependent on the experience and ability of analysts to construct an information model called Control Structures, upon which analysts try to identify unsafe controls between system components. This paper proposes a formal approach to support the manual identification of UCAs, effectively and systematically. It allows analysts to mechanically extract Process Model, an important element that makes up the Control Structures, from a formal requirements specification for a software controller. It then concisely constructs the contents of Context Tables, from which analysts can identify all relevant UCAs effectively, using a software fault tree analysis technique. The case study with a preliminary version of a Korean nuclear reactor protections system shows the proposed approach's effectiveness and applicability.

The subjects of this study were middle-aged women in their 40s$\sim$50s and older women aged 60 and over who were living in Seoul and Kyonggi-do, Korea. Through studying the participants' responses to the questions regarding the attributes of apparel quality in terms of the levels of satisfaction and importance, the target consumers' demand has been studied. And, they are applied to a QFD Matrix, to find out the relationship between the attributes of product quality and the guidelines of clothing design. For this study, apparel product quality is composed of five parameters: practicality, aesthetics, brand image, ease of care and fit. For the parameters of apparel product quality, the result of this study show that product improvements are needed in fit, aesthetics and practicality(in order of importance). The level of satisfaction(how satisfied consumer feels) was marked higher in brand image than that of importance(how important it is). To review demands for the apparel product attributes of formal suits for middle-aged and older women, the priority of these attributes through QFD Matrix that shows the relationship between the attributes and dress elements emphasized by designers has been examined. Material was the most important design element in designing formal suits. The shape of the pants was the second because the harmony between the jacket and the pants is important in formal suits. These were followed by trim and color tone of the jacket.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the cognitive demands level of the description about 'element', 'periodic table', and 'atom' on the 'science 2' textbooks by the 2007 revised curriculum. The three types of CAT (Curriculum Analysis Taxonomy) have been used to analyze the cognitive demands level of those contents on the 6 kinds of 'science 2' textbooks. The cognitive demands level about 'elements' on many textbooks is a late concrete operational stage, because the descriptions of 'element' are pure substances or no more split into anything simpler substances. That cognitive demands level about one textbook is a early formal operational stage, because the descriptions 'element' are a substance of one kind of atom. The cognitive demands level of 'periodic table' on many textbooks is a late concrete operational stage, because the descriptions about 'periodic table' are the hierarchical classification for the categorizing reality. And the cognitive demands level of 'periodic table' is a early formal operational stage, because the descriptions about 'periodic table' are a collection of 'families' or two-way gradation of elements. That cognitive demands level about one textbook is a late formal operational stage, because the descriptions of 'periodic table' are a complex classificatory structure linking atomic structure. The cognitive demands level about 'atom' is a early formal operational stage because of the descriptions as "atoms have structure, some atoms are the same, or others are different".
Product line engineering(PLE) is one of the recent and effective reuse approaches that enables developing a number of applications by instantiating a core asset. Elements of a core asset are product line architecture(PLA), component, and decision model. Among these elements, PLA is the key element since it defines the overall structure of the core asset. Although numerous PLE methodologies have been introduced, it is still unclear what should be the elements of a PLA and how to systematically instantiate it for specific applications. Formal specifications can play a key role in defining detailed and precise instantiation process. In this paper, we first present a meta model of PLA and show how to specify PLA in a formal language, Object-Z. Then, we propose instantiation rules using formal specification and those rules precisely define constraints for instantiating PLA. By applying the proposed formal specification, we believe PLA instantiation can be carried out precisely and correctly, yielding high quality software development.
Modern family culture manifests various different social phenomenon due to shifts caused by increased societal response to industrialization in our country. It is noted that as our lifestyle patterns have shifted from being work-oriented to family-oriented, by focusing on the trend where there is an increase in families enjoying hobby and leisure activities together and where families go shopping together, I attempted to propose various different family-look' designs. In this research study we designed and planned family normal clothes designs that are required and desired for family gatherings and family events, and these designed were produced using 3D virtual clothing design software technology. The research method used the formative features of natural plants and textiles containing a symbolic motif as an element of design, and the creation of family formal clothes were designed and planned based on the method. The development of family formal clothes designs was implemented using CLO 3D virtual clothing design software. Because utilizing 3D virtual clothing design software enables prototyping various types of designs, silhouettes, fabrics and textiles, and color schemes etc. in a short amount of time, it was possible to utilize an advantage from using the software as leveraged to propose designs with a strong symbolic motif and symbolism . Also, by confirming and examining the strengths and weaknesses of the design process when using CLO 3D, It can improve the utilization of IT technologies, and this study aims to provide that efficiency.
Game design as an academic discipline is still in the early developing stages and the lack of fundamental study has seen game designers cloning other games with only superficial changes added to them. Game market today is going through unprecedented expansion with games for more diverse users and variety of game styles. Such trend owes to the fact that formal structures of the game can be manipulated to formulate creative and experimental forms. This paper will focus on the 'boundary' element of the game that could broaden the perspective of the game into different possibilities with emerging mobile technologies, public design's new interpretation of urban spaces and integrating interactive technologies in different phases of art.
This study analyze the architectural space in the aspect of the 'Raumplan' and 'Plan Libre'. These concepts based on the 'Raumplan versus Plan Libre' exhibition in Delft University, Netherlands. It is generally agreed that the concept of 'Plan Libre' in connection with Le Corbusie architecture and 'Raumplan' related to Adolf Loos's works. that exhibition contents was focused an extent of modem architecture. But, These concepts continually influence contemporary architecture and offer diverse vision in architecture. Therefore, this study focused on the analysis that look for common element in the space through the case study and space element connection in change of the values, technical growth. This Paper reveals that Adolf Loos's Raumplan is similar to Louis I. Kahn's 'Room' concept and Ando Tadao's centrifugal space composition method In the dwelling architecture. And the concept 'Plan Libre': non-definitive formal system and the elements : column, free form screening wall is revived as formal application of 3 dimension composition in architecture. and transfer lots, void, and linear space in Rem Koolhaas's urban design projects. These aspects is so called topology. This topological concept is an attempt in view of the space connection state rather than formative viewpoint.
