In this paper presented the net forging technology of planetary gear after much experiment and analysis, technology of two forging processes after billet being one -time heated, and cold net forging was adopted to ensure the gear forming quality. In the process of die producing, electrical rod NC cutting technology was used .the test and application has proved the net forging gear has reached higher quality and met the requirement of design. The net forging gear technology had been put into production.
Powder metallurgy process has many advantages such as hight efficientyof material, mass productivity and complex shape production with good mechanical properties. Among the powder forming processes, incremental forging allows the consolidation to be achieved with amaller force then those required by conventional forging. In particular the proces known as rotary forging is an unique and prodominant process known as rotary forging is an unique and prodominant process in which the working constraints approximate to those in normal closed die forging. This study is concerned with the powder compaction by rotary forging process. An experimental rotary forging press with 500kN load capacity has been developed, which is equippe dwith the rotational conicla die inclined to the central axis of the press at arbitrary angle. It is found that the highly densified P/M parts can be obtained by rotary forging process and the material properties are superior to those of the conventrional sintered parts. The detailedcomparision of the mechanical properties by rotary forging process with those by conventional process are given.
The cold forging process induces material deformation in an enclosed space, generating a very high forging load. Therefore, it is mainly designed as a multi-stage process, and fatigue failure occurs in forging die due to cyclic load. Studies have been conducted previously to quantitatively predict the fatigue limit of cold forging dies, however, there was a limit to field application due to the large error range and the need for expert intervention. To solve this problem, we conducted a study on the introduction of a real-time forging load measurement technology and an automated system for quantitative prediction of die life cycle. As a result, it was possible to reduce the error range of the quantitative prediction of die life cycle to within ±7%, and it became possible to use the die life cycle calculation algorithm into an automated system.
In this study, a die set for enclosed die forging is developed and it is applied to precision forging of bevel gears and spiders. The enclosed die forging die set is introduced in detail together with the enclosed die forging. A target mechanical press and a model product are selected and various engineering technologies are applied for detail design of the enclosed die forging die set. Several precision forgings are manufactured by the developed die set. The enclosed die forging die set as well as the precision forging processes are developed under intensive industry-university cooperation.
The micro-alloying forging steels have been developed to save energy consumption during forging and subsequent heat treatment stages. The work hardening ability of micro-alloying forging steels is one of major hardening component while it gives severe die damage if the forging process design is poorly set up on the other hand. In the present study, it was tried to characterize three types of micro-alloying forging steels to understand the differences with the conventional low carbon steels used fur cold forging with a spherodizing heat treatment. After forging of a certain forging part with both micro-alloying forging steels and conventional low carbon steel, several mechanical tests were carried out.
A multi-step warm forging process for subminiature screws is investigated. Due to the low formability of Titanium alloys, bit forming of Titanium screws is difficult by cold forging. In order to overcome this low formability of Titanium alloys, two candidate processes, i.e., multi-step forging and warm forging are introduced. First, a multi-step (two-step) forging process is investigated. The punch shape and stroke of forging during the first step is designed via various analyses. Finally, the bit formability is investigated at different forging temperatures. Analyses are carried out for two-step forging at various temperatures and the formability under these thermal conditions is compared.

This paper presented a virtual manufacturing simulation system by using Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and Finite Element Method(FEM). The system is to simulate forging operation. Stress distributions and deformation profiles as well as the operation of forging machine can be simulated and visualized in the web. Since the forging machine, user interface, and specimen were modeled by using Java and VRML, the forging machine and analysis results were browsed and integrated on the web that is interfaced to users through EAI to show the whole forging simulation. The developed system realized the working environment virtually so that education and experiment of forging process could be performed effectively even on the PC.

Due to the strength and biocompatibility requirement, the stainless steel SUS 316L is widely used for trauma internal fixation device. SUS 316L can be hardened and strengthened only by cold work. In this work, the material compression test is performed both in laboratory and computer simulation by a FEM analysis software DEFORM to correlate the hardness to strain. This data is then used for preform design and predict the hardness of the finish bone plate forging. Finally, we compared the hardness between the actual forging and computer analysis results. Although the predicted hardness from computer simulation. is 55HV higher than the final forging sample, we can get good compatibility on the hardening tendency of cold forging.
When Ti-6Al-4V is used in long steam turbine blades, the main issues are how to improve the fatigue strength as a problem of internal quality and how to forge the thinnest possible blades as problem of dimensional precision. To assure an excellent fatigue strength, it is important to make the two phase fine and equiaxial structure by providing enough plastic deformation in the two phase$(\alpha\;phase/\beta\;phase)$ temperature region. Accordingly, it needs to predict that forging temperature, preform design and forging velocity in forging process. To achieve this end, the two steps forging process was suggested to forge the thin and twisted blades with a precision hammer considering die forces and metal flow. Two steps forging process consists of the flattening forging process and finishing forging process. Process in forging of a 1016mm long steam turbine blade is designed by the finite element method. This study attempts to derive systematic design procedures for process design in the forging. Forging parameters was analyzed in two-dimensional plane-strain simulation and two steps forging process carried out in three-dimensional simulation. Consequently, optimal forging process parameters of long steam turbine blades in Ti-6Al-4V with a high dimensional precision are selected in the hammer die forging.
Powder Forging technology is being developed rapidly because of its economic merits and the possibility of lightening parts by replacing steel parts with aluminum ones especially in automotive parts manufacturing. Recently Powder Forging process is widely used for manufacturing primary mechanical parts as a combined technology of P/M and precision hot forging. This paper describes the process conditions for the powder forging of Aluminium alloy piston. For example powder alloy design preform design by FEM simulation cold of compaction of specimens and preform sintering of preform powder forging process. The characteristics of sintered compaction of specimens and preform sintering of preform powder forging process. The characteristics of sintered products and final forged piston ones are investigated with tensile strength hardness ductility and so on. Eventually its results prove the improve mechanical properties of the piston produced by powder forging.
