  • Drilling equipment is an essential part used in various fields such as construction, mining, etc., and it has drawn increasing attention in recent years. The drilling method is generally divided into three types. There are a top hammer method that strikes on the ground, a DTH (Down-The-Hole) method that directly strikes a bit in an underground area, and a rotary method that drills by using rotational force. Among them, the DTH method is most commonly used because it enables efficient drilling compared to other drilling methods. In the conventional DTH hammer, the valve between the piston and the bit is opened and closed using a face to face method. In order to improve the power of the DTH hammer, a DTH hammer with foot valve which is capable of instantaneous opening and closing is used in the drilling field. In this study, we designed a lab-scale DTH hammer with the foot valve, and manufactured an evaluation device for the experiment of the DTH hammer. In addition, we analyzed the performance of the DTH hammer adopted with foot valve according to the pressure range of 3-10 bar. As a result, the internal pressure distribution in the DTH hammer was experimentally analyzed, and then, the movement of the piston according to the pressure was predicted. We believe that this study provides the useful results to explain the performance characteristics of the DTH hammer with the foot valve.

  • An exhaust brake system is composed of a gate valve, a pneumatic cylinder and an on-off solenoid valve. An on-off solenoid valve which is a key component of the exhaust brake system ought to have characteristics such as high reliability and long life for reducing the foot brake and tires damage, and for driver's fatigue relief of middle/large size vehicles running a long distance. In this paper, an on-off solenoid valve which is used for vehicle brake system was studied. For the performance evaluation of the on-off solenoid, electromagnetic characteristics and dynamic characteristics are analyzed. On the basic study for the performance improvement of exhaust brake system, pneumatic circuit and pneumatic valve of on-off solenoid type were suggested and the performance of pneumatic valve through the test procedure was evaluated.

  • In this study, we wolud be developed the fuzzy controlled PGO that controlled the flexion and the extension of each PGO's joint using the bio-signal and FSR sensor. The PGO driving system is to couple the right and left sides of the orthosis by specially designed hip joints and pelvic section. This driving system consists of the orthosis, sensor, control system. An air supply system of muscle is composed of an air compressor, 2-way solenoid valve(MAC, USA), accumulator, pressure sensor. Role of this system provide air muscle with the compressed air at hip joint constantly. According to output signal of EMG sensor and foot sensor, air muscles and assists the flexion of hip joint during PGO gait.

  • In this paper, an energy regeneration algorithm is proposed to make the maximum use of the regenerative braking energy for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) equipped with a continuous variable transmission(CVT). The regenerative algorithm is developed by considering the battery state of charge(SOC), vehicle velocity and motor capacity. The hydraulic module consists of a reducing valve and a power unit to supply the front wheel brake pressure according to the control algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) is performed. In the HILS system, the brake system consists of four wheel brakes and the hydraulic module. Dynamic characteristics of the HEV are simulated using an HEV simulator. In the HEV simulator, each element of the HEV powertrain such as internal combustion engine, motor, battery and CVT is modelled using MATLAB/$Simulink^{(R)}$. In the HILS, a driver operates the brake pedal with his or her foot while the vehicle speed is displayed on the monitor in real time. It is found from the HILS that the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module suggested in this paper provide a satisfactory braking performance in tracking the driving schedule and maintaining the battery state of charge.

According to output signal of EMG sensor and foot sensor, air muscles and assists the flexion of hip joint during PGO gait. As a results, the maximum hip flexion angles of RGO's gait and PGO's gait were about $16^{\circ}\;and\;57^{\circ}$ respectively. The maximum angle of flexion/extention in hip joint of the patients during RGO's gait are smaller than normal gait, because of the step length of them shoes a little bit. But maximum angle of flexion/extention in hip joint of the patients during PGO's gait are larger than normal gait.

  • Background Dermal backflow (DBF), which refers to lymphatic reflux due to lymphatic valve insufficiency, is a diagnostic finding in lymphedema. However, the three-dimensional structure of DBF remains unknown. Photoacoustic lymphangiography (PAL) is a new technique that enables the visualization of the distribution of light-absorbing molecules, such as hemoglobin or indocyanine green (ICG), and can provide three-dimensional images of superficial lymphatic vessels and the venous system. This study reports the use of PAL to visualize DBF structures in the extremities of patients with lymphedema after cancer surgery. Methods Patients with a clinical or lymphographic diagnosis of lymphedema who previously underwent surgery for cancer at one of two participating hospitals were included in this study. PAL was performed using the PAI-05 system. ICG was administered subcutaneously in the affected hand or foot, and ICG fluorescence lymphography was performed using a near-infrared camera system prior to PAL. Results Between April 2018 and January 2019, 21 patients were enrolled and examined using PAL. The DBF was composed of dense, interconnecting, three-dimensional lymphatic vessels. It was classified into three patterns according to the composition of the lymphatic vessels: a linear structure of lymphatic collectors (pattern 1), a network of lymphatic capillaries and lymphatic collectors in an underlying layer (pattern 2), and lymphatic capillaries and precollectors with no lymphatic collectors (pattern 3). Conclusions PAL showed the structure of DBF more precisely than ICG fluorescence lymphography. The use of PAL to visualize DBF assists in understanding the pathophysiology and assessing the severity of cancer-related lymphedema.
