청소년 척추 측만증 환자를 위한 근골격계 보정 웨어 개발 - 스포츠 테이핑 원리 응용 - (Development of Wearing of Musculo-Skeletal Functional Garment for Adolescents' Idiopathic Scoliosis -With the Principle of Sports Taping Applied-)

  • We aimed to analyze the muscle activity of adolescent patients with idiopathic scoliosis during gait and develop the wearing of musculo-skeletal functional garment by applying the principle of sports taping based on the result of the analysis. We selected 20 male students between the ages of 13 and 18 and divided them into 2 groups: one group consisted of 10 patients with idiopathic scoliosis <20 degrees of Cobb's Angle: the other group had 10 normal students. Using, we measured and analyzed the muscle activity of 8 different regions: left and right latissimus dorsi, left and right thoracolumbar fascia, left and right gluteus medius, and left and right biceps femoris during gait. Our results can be summarized as follows: Firstly, in patients with idiopathic scoliosis, the gait showed a significantly low activity of the right latissimus dorsi muscle when the left foot was supported on the ground(p<.05). Secondly, in the overall gait cycle, the patients showed a higher activity of the right thoracolumbar fascia and right gluteus medius than that seen in the normal students: however, this difference was not statistically significant. Thirdly, by applying sports taping on the bisis of the results, this study developed the wearing of musculo-skeletal functional garment that could maximize the stimuli of the right latissimus dorsi and alleviate muscle contraction of the right thoracolumbar fascia and right gluteus medius, while expanding the spinal line upward and downward, by focusing on the difference between left and right muscular strength of the muscle activity of the bright latissimus dorsi. Overall, we expect that by wearing of musculo-skeletal functional garment, the muscular functions in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis.

남자 포환던지기 시 성공과 실패에 따른 운동학적 차이 - 국가대표 황인성 선수를 중심으로 - (The Kinematic Difference According to Success and Failure of Shot-Putting - Focusing on Member of the National Team, Hwang, In-sung, Player -)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify biomechanical characteristics of glide and delivery motion of In-Sung Hwang, player who is a member of the national team among the finalists in the men's shot put at the 2010 National Sports Festivals. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 3 video cameras at a sampling frequency of 60 Hz was performed for this study. During the glide and delivery phase the results showed following characteristics; 1) The glide type was suitable for the short-long technique, but the trajectory of shot at the glide and delivery phase showed a different trajectory pattern with "S-shaped" type of elite players due to many deviating from central axis of the APSS(athletic-plus shot system). 2) Left knee was more flexed during failed trials compared to successful trials but COG was higher. Therefore, the player showed less stability of COG as he may not get enough breaking force at the left foot. 3) Furthermore, it would be required to have strong muscle power at the trunk, throwing arm, and the lower extremity in order to achieve maintain a low projection angle of the release.

  • 삶의 질이 높아지고 고령화 사회가 시작되면서, 사회적 약자들이 사용하기 쉬운 교통수단의 개발의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 이러한 요구에 부응하기 위해, 한국철도기술연구원에서 주관하여 저상굴절버스(Bi-modal Tram)의 개발을 시작하게 되었다. 이 저상굴절버스는 버스와 같은 높은 접근성의 특징을 가져야 할 뿐만 아니라, 지하철과 같이 차체가 낮아야 하며, 휠체어나 승객의 발이 승강장과 차량 사이 틈에 끼지 않도록 정확한 주차가 이루어져야 한다. 하지만 저상굴절차량의 길이가 길어, 이러한 요건을 맞추기 위해서는 전 차륜 조향 시스템이 개발-장착되어야 한다. 전 차륜 조향 시스템이 장착된 저상굴절차량은 1축 차륜이 조향될 뿐 아니라, 1축 조향각 또는 굴절각과 속도 등의 상태에 따라 2축과 3축 차륜이 조향되는 특징을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전 차륜 조향장치의 개발 과정을 다룬다.

하키 페널티 코너 시 고등학교 선수와 국가대표 선수간의 플릭슈팅 동작 비교 (A Comparision of Flick Shooting Motion in Penalty Corner between High School and National Players in Field Hockey)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 필드하키 페널티 코너 시 고등학교 선수와 국가대표 선수간의 플릭 슈팅 동작을 비교 분석하여 페널티 코너 지도 시 운동학적 지침을 제시하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 전문 슈터 남자 고등학교 선수 5명과 국가대표 선수 6명을 피험자로 선정하여 페널티 코너 시 플릭 슈팅 동작을 비교 분석하였다. 국가 대표 선수들은 고등학교 선수에 비하여 스틱헤드 속도와 볼 속도가 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 국가 대표 선수들은 고등학교 선수에 비하여 스틱으로 볼을 캐치하는 단계에서 오른발을 볼보다 앞쪽에 많이 내딛고, 볼을 앞쪽으로 길게 드래그하여 목표 방향으로 빠르게 보내고 있다. 고등학교 선수들은 국가대표 선수들에 비하여 볼을 캐치하는 단계에서 어깨의 각속도와 손목의 각속도 변화가 크고 동작 시간도 짧게 나타났다. 국가 대표 선수들은 신체 무게 중심의 상하편차가 적으며 폴로스루 단계에서도 릴리즈 단계의 몸 숙임 각도를 일정하게 유지하였으며 릴리즈 시점에서는 손과 전완의 각운동량이 고등학교 선수에 비하여 큰 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of Vertical Alignment of Leg on the Knee Trajectory and Pedal Force during Pedaling

  • Objective: This study evaluated the vertical and horizontal forces in the frontal plane acting on a pedal due to the vertical alignment of the lower limbs. Method: Seven male subjects (age: $25.3{\pm} 0.8years$, height: $175.4{\pm}4.7cm$, weight: $74.7{\pm}14.2kg$, foot size: $262.9{\pm}7.6mm$) participated in two 2-minute cycle pedaling tests, with the same load and cadence (60 revolutions per minute) across all subjects. The subject's saddle height was determined by the height when the knee was at $25^{\circ}$ flexion when the pedal crank was at the 6 o'clock position (knee angle method). The horizontal force acting on the pedal, vertical force acting on the pedal in the frontal plane, ratio of the two forces, and knee range of motion in the frontal plane were calculated for four pedaling phases (phase 1: $330{\sim}30^{\circ}$, phase 2: $30{\sim}150^{\circ}$, phase 3: $150{\sim}210^{\circ}$, phase 4: $210{\sim}330^{\circ}$) and the complete pedaling cycle. Results: The range of motion of the knee in the frontal plane was decreased, and the ratio of vertical force to horizontal force and overall pedal force in the complete cycle were increased after vertical alignment. Conclusion: The ratio of vertical force to horizontal force in the frontal plane may be used as an injury prevention index of the lower limb.

여자 창던지기 운동학적 요인의 일관성 평가 (Evaluation of Consistency on Kinematic Factors in Women Javelin Throw)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate variability of kinematic factors affecting the record in women's javelin throwing. For this study, 8 female-javelin thrower participated in this experiment. The three digital video cameras (Sony, 120x) were used to record motions. Kwon3D 2.1 was used to process data and they were analyzed with Excell for factors. The sampling rate of a camera was 60Hz and shutter speed of a camera was 1/1000sec. The coordinate data were filtered using a fourth-order Butterworth low pass filtering with an estimated optimum cut-off frequency of 6Hz. The results were as follows: 1. From cross step to landing of delivery, the average velocities of CoM of non-dominant athletes were greater than dominant athletes and those of CoM of non-dominant athletes less than dominant athletes, but at release dominant athletes had a lower average velocity and a variability than non-dominant athletes. 2. From cross step to landing of delivery, the average throwing velocities and variabilities of a javelin of dominant athletes were greater than dominant athletes, but at release, dominant athletes had a higher velocity than dominant athletes and had a equal variability. 3. At every events, a forward or backward angles and variabilities of non-dominant athletes were greater than dominant athletes. 4. From cross step to landing of delivery, dominant athletes' elbow average angles were greater than non-dominant athletes and the variabilities of latter less than non-dominant athletes, but at release dominant athletes' variabilities were smaller than non-dominant athletes. 5. At landing of delivery, dominant athletes' knee average angles and variabilities of a supporting foot were a greater than non-dominant athletes, and at release, dominant athletes' knee average angles was a greater but variabilities less than non-dominant athletes. In conclusion, the dominant threw javelins fast while having stable postures and the range of elbow's angle large.

골프스윙시 각 클럽간의 샷 분석 및 백스윙톱과 임팩트시의 체중이동분석 (A Study of the Shot Differences Among Each Clubs and the Weight Shift Patterns from Back Swing Top to the Impact during the Golf Swing)

  • 본 연구는 숙련자 4명과 3년 이내의 골프전공 학생 4명을 대상으로 아이언 클럽(3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) 간의 기초샷 정보와 체중이동 정보를 분석하기 위하여 RD-TEC사의 샷분석기와 체중판을 이용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 기존 연구에서 다루어지지 않았던 전체 아이언 클럽간의 샷분석의 차이와 체중이동의 변화를 고찰하는데 그 목적이 있다. 실험대상자(숙련자 4명과 비숙련자 4명) 모두 헤드스피드와 볼스피드에서 롱아이언과 숏아이언의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으나, 3, 4, 5번 아이언에서는 에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 숙련자는 비숙련자보다 헤드스피드, 볼스피드, 방항성, 타출각에서 높은 결과를 나타냈다. 그리고 체중이동의 분석에서는 백스윙 톱에서는 비숙련자가 더 많은 체중이동(65.36%)을 하였고, 숙련자는 임팩트시에서 70.21%정도의 체중이 왼발에 있었다. 숙련자 그룹은 체중이동을 통하여 보다 효과적으로 파워를 내는 것으로 나타났다.

Ride Quality Investigation of Passenger Cars on Different Road Conditions

  • Objective: The ride qualities of the six passenger cars were evaluated in 4 subjects on the highway and uneven road. The relation between vibration with driving velocity and driving posture were also investigated separately. Background: Ride comfort plays an important role in the vehicle design. Vibration is the one of the principal components associated with ride comfort. Method: The acceleration of the foot, hip and back were measured using B&K accelerometers in this study. The velocity of the passenger cars was maintained at a constant speed of 80km/h on the highway and 40km/h on the uneven road. For evaluating the effects of driving velocity and driving posture on vehicle's vibration level, separate experiments were performed on the highway with 5 different vehicle speeds and 5 different backrest angles, respectively. Results: The overall ride value of the luxury car showed the best result while the smaller car showed the worst value on the highway. On the uneven road the overall ride value level was increased 75~98%. All the vehicles had the SEAT value less than 1. Faster the velocity lowers the SEAT value. The ride quality in terms of vibration gets worst when the backrest angle increased. Conclusion: The smaller car had a first mode at the higher frequency and showed higher vibration level. SEAT value was mostly affected by the seat property not by vehicle. We ranked the luxury car seat had a best vibration reduction quality than others based on SEAT values. When the driving velocity increased, the overall ride values were increased proportionally and the SEAT values were somewhat decreased. 고관절 내회전 보행이 둔부 근육과 척추 기립근의 근활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Hip Internal Rotation Gait on Gluteal and Erector Spinae Muscle Activity)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of the hip internal rotation on gluteal and erector spinae muscle electromyographic (EMG) activity during treadmill walking. Eleven healthy subjects were recruited. All subjects performed treadmill walking while maintaining the hip in neutral position (condition 1) and in internal rotation (condition 2). Surface EMG activity was recorded from four muscles (gluteus maximus (GM), gluteus medius (GMED), tensor fascia latae (TFL), and erector spinae (ES)) and the hip internal rotation angle was measured using a three dimensional motion analysis system. The gait cycle was determined with two foot switches, and stance phase was normalized as 100% stance phase (SP) for each condition using the MatLab 7.0 program. The normalized EMG activities according to the hip rotation (neutral or internal rotation) were compared using a paired t-test. During the entire SP of treadmill walking, the EMG activities of GM in condition 1 were significantly greater than in condition 2 (p<.05). The EMG activities of TFL and ES in condition 2 were significantly greater than in condition 1 (p<.05). The EMG activities of the GMED in condition 1 were significantly greater than in condition 1 (p>.05) except for 80~100% SP. Further studies need randomized control trials regarding the effect of hip internal rotation on the hip and lumbar spine muscle activity. Kinetic variables during gait or going up and down stairs are also needed.

Growth of Endothelial Cells on Microfabricated Silicon Nitride Membranes for an In Vitro Model of the Blood-brain Barrier

  • The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is composed of the brain capillaries, which are lined by endothelial cells displaying extremely tight intercellular junctions. Several attempts at creating an in vitro model of the BBB have been met with moderate success as brain capillary endothelial cells lose their barrier properties when isolated in cell culture. This may be due to a lack of recreation of the in vivo endothelial cellular environment in these models, including nearly constant contact with astrocyte foot processes. This work is motivated by the hypothesis that growing endothelial cells on one side of an ultra-thin, highly porous membrane and differentiating astrocyte or astrogliomal cells on the opposite side will lead to a higher degree of interaction between the two cell types and therefore to an improved model. Here we describe our initial efforts towards testing this hypothesis including a procedure for membrane fabrication and methods for culturing endothelial cells on these membranes. We have fabricated a 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick, 2.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ pore size, and 55% porous membrane with a very narrow pore size distribution from low-stress silicon nitride (SiN) utilizing techniques from the microelectronics industry. We have developed a base, acid, autoclave routine that prepares the membranes for cell culture both by cleaning residual fabrication chemicals from the surface and by increasing the hydrophilicity of the membranes (confirmed by contact angle measurements). Gelatin, fibronectin, and a 50/50 mixture of the two proteins were evaluated as potential basement membrane protein treatments prior to membrane cell seeding. All three treatments support adequate attachment and growth on the membranes compared to the control.
