Bezoars are concretions commonly found in the stomach and small bowel, and four types of bezoars have been described based on their composition : trichobezoar, phytobezoar, lactorbezoar, and miscellaneous. Bezoars most often develop after gastric operations that alter the motility, emptying, and grinding of food in the stomach. Trichobezoars are most common in female children with normal gastrointestinal function and are usually associated with pica, mental retardation, and psychiatric disorders. Although uncommon, bezoars are a well-recognized cause of chronic abdominal complaints which, when undiagnosed, can result in serious complications including gastric ulceration, bleeding, perforation, intussusception and small bowel obstruction. Mortality rates of up to 30 percent have been reported in adults. Trichotillomania is behaviors surrounding hair-pulling, including stroking and playing with hair before pulling, or biting and swallowing the hair after it has been pulled(trichophagia). The most notorious of the medical sequelae of trichotillomania is the trichobezoar. We experienced a case of trichobezoar in an 11-year-old girl who frequently swallowed her hairs from age 4 years up to age 7 years, resulting in intermittent abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
This study was carried out with the purpose of capturing current state of Korean family life culture related to childrearing. The Questionnaire developed for this study in order to delineate the values and perceptions related to general childrearing practices in present Korean families consisted of 73 items concerning prenatal care and child birth, child caring and rearing, and role division and value education. Subjects were mothers of young and primary school children currenly residing in Seoul area and Choongchung province of South Korea. Four hundred and four questionnaires were analyzed, and the summary of results were as follows. First, both the respect for children's individual needs concerning food, clothing, and health-related behaviors and the pursuit of convenience in everyday life on the part of mothers appeared to be important and valued by Korean mothers. Second, the basic values and traditional meanings of family events such as prenatal care, children's birthday, especiall the first one, and family rituals and gatherings still appeared to be exsiting and influential, but there seemed to have been some changes both in their formal aspects and detail contents. Third, meaningful differences in childrearing attitudes were found according to mother's place of growth, educational level, and her employment status. Finally, traditional distinction between sexes and sex-role division in childrearing seemed to have weakened to some extent, which was particularly among mothers with higher educational level or residing in big cities.
This study was designed to investigate the impact of a 12-week nutrition education program on 32 male industrial workers (average age: $44.5{\pm}3.8$ yrs, work duration period: $20.1{\pm}5.6$ yrs) diagnosed as having dyslipidemia in a medical checkup at their workplace. This program was implemented with a conceptual framework on strengthening self-efficacy for the improvement of the health conditions of the workers. Most of all, the study exhibited benefits in the industrial workers by ameliorating the risk factors associated with dyslipidemia via changes in dietary behaviors, nutritional knowledge, and attitudes, as well as anthropometric and biochemical parameters. After the nutrition education, overall lifestyle, including the ratios of smoking (P<0.05) and drinking (P<0.01), significantly improved. Exactly 65.6% of the subjects reported that their dietary habits changed. Body weight, BMI, percentage of body fat, and waist circumference all significantly decreased (P<0.001). The systolic (P<0.01) as well as diastolic blood pressures (P<0.001) decreased. Moreover, the degree of increase in serum HDL-cholesterol was appreciable (P<0.001), and the atherogenic index also decreased (P<0.01). Further, risk factors related to metabolic syndrome in subjects significantly decreased (P<0.001). The average scores for nutrition knowledge increased from 9.3 to 17.7 points (P<0.001). All of the participants agreed on the need for a nutrition education program at their workplace. Further, it should be pointed out that the participants strongly indicated the need for continuing nutrition intervention.

In order to elucidate the mechanism of fishing condition variation of anchovy in the set net fisheries of Anggang Bay, the monthly catch of anchovy was analyzed and examined based on the data acquired from 2006 to 2010 in 13 different fishing grounds. Anchovy consistently appeared from April to December and reached the production of 840 to 1,424 t (average : 1,228 t), with a big annual variation. However, anchovy production in this area accounts for approximately 75% of the production by set net in Anggang Bay whereas it holds 6.8% of the nationwide production (=18,034 t) by set net. The school of anchovy starts to appear in April at the west mouth of the bay and move north-eastward. Afterward, having three of clockwise turns in the middle of the bay, they scatter to swim into the deep place of the bay and finally go out to turn back to their coming way. These behaviors of anchovy are likely related to thermal fronts as well as distributions of food. The production of anchovy (y, kg) relied greatly on frequencies of effective northeasterly ($x_1$) or northwesterly ($x_2$) wind (${\leq}$3.5m/s) which blow between April and June. Their relationships are as follows: $y=1086.27+21.499x_1-15.16x_2$ (r=0.901). Consequently, we concluded that the northeasterly wind, which appears in the breeding season of spring, played a role to retard the movement of anchovy school to the eastern sea, while the northwesterly wind inhibits the invasion of anchovy school into the bay.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of gender in the association between the oral symptoms experience and health behavior. Methods: The subjects were 54,219 adolescents selected from the web-based survey of the 11th (2015) Korean Youth Risk Behavior of Korean Center for Disease Control. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. The subjects consisted of 27,198 male students(50.2%) and 27,021 female students(49.8%) from 400 middle schools and 400 high schools. Results: Multiple logistic regression analysis after adjustment to demographic characteristics and oral health behavior showed experience with drinking and smoking in adolescents increased oral symptoms experienced by both male and female students (OR = 1.3, 95% CI = 1.20-1.34 / OR =1.3, 95% CI = 1.18-1.33), (OR = 1.3, 95% CI = 1.24-1.40 / OR = 1.4, 95% CI = 1.43-1.30). But the difference was not significant between genders. In terms of diet, consumption of carbonated beverages, snacks and fast food saw an increase in oral symptoms experience both gender compared with those whose "No(weekly)" in particular to women, alternatively vegetable, fruit consumption(weekly) were having less intake adolescents increase oral symptoms experience than "time daily(weekly)" intake adolescents both boy and girl especially to girl. Conclusions: There was a correlation between oral symptom experiences and health behaviors. There was also slight differences between genders, with more effect shown on female students. Based on this study, proper and systematic education of oral health management should be carried out at schools.

Background: This study investigated the health behaviors of North Korean, multicultural, and Korean family adolescents in Korea. Methods: The study subjects were from the Korea youth risk behavior web-based survey (2011-2013) dataset. We identified 1,954 multicultural family adolescents and twice as many Korean family adolescents. Frequency analysis was used to assess nativity and nationality of the parents, and the chi-square test was used to compare the general characteristics and health behavior of the multicultural and Korean families. Conditional multiple logistic regression was used to compare health behavior between multicultural and Korean families. Results: Of the 5,862 multicultural and Korean family adolescents, current smoking in North Korean family adolescents was higher than Korean family adolescents (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 2.32; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.60-3.35) after adjusting for sex, school year, perceived school record, family structure, father's education, mother's education, perceived economic status, place of residence, and survey year. A high drinking rate was significantly greater in North Korean family adolescents compared to Korean family adolescents (aOR, 2.94; 95% CI, 1.89-4.57). Odds ratios for sufficient physical activity of vigorous intensity (aOR, 1.82; 95% CI, 1.31-2.54) were significantly higher in North Korean family adolescents than in Korean family adolescents. Fast food intake (aOR, 1.96; 95% CI, 1.34-2.86) was significantly higher in North Korean family adolescents compared to Korean family adolescents. Conclusion: There were differences in health behavior between North Korean, multicultural, and Korean family adolescents. Further studies are needed to investigate the factors associated with these differences.

In this paper, we studied the evolution of behavioral logic of artificial individuals using cell-level evolution framework. We first implemented cell-level evolution framework and then investigated the evolution of behavioral logic that artificial individuals ate foods on the framework. A logic frame for behavioral decisions of artificial individuals was devised and applied to the framework. From extensive tests, we found that most artificial individuals could evolve the behavioral logic that they could eat food in a short generation. It was also confirmed that most behavioral logics showed nearly same behaviors of artificial individuals in most tests. Our method has the differences from existing algorithms using evolutionary algorithms and evolvable hardwares in that it is a basically different approach. These results showed that our framework could be a good tool for investigating the evolution of artificial individuals in a cell-level.
The school foodservice(FS) dietitians of conventional, co-management and central kitchen systems were compared for their levels of fatigue degrees in order to examine their work specification but no to diminish their educational roles. One hundred and thirtheen primary schools in Taejon and Chungcheongnam-Do participated in the survey, of which foodservice were consisted of 99 conventional types, 7 comanagement types and central kitchen types. Information was collected about the various working hours dietary behavior and fatigue symptoms of the dietitians. The results of this study were as follows : Among 3 school foodservice types, dietitians spent 8 hours and 16 minutes daily for their for their work on the average. However, the central kitchen type dietitans in cities spent 3 hours more compared to the others. The data from the dietitians' work schedule sheets showed that the 5 parts of dietitian's duties set in the school foodservice laws were not well performed. In the central kitchen type they spent more time for food production whereas in the conventional they spent more time for menu formation and hygiene control. It was found that fatigue levels of school foodservice dietitians were chronic with no difference among foodservice systems or among school locations. Our results indicated that nutrition education in primary schools was almost neglected. It is suggested that the school foodservice should meet all the objectives of school-lunch program even though they saved dietitians' work load more or less. Young adults are likely to start a new life style which may cause weight gain or obesity since leaving their parents for higher education or university. Whilst young people are slim in general, it is common to see them trying to manage their weight. Few studies have been carried out in Korea to support those changes in lifestyle that can result in weight gain in early adulthood. This study aims to identify prevalence of dieting as well as factors inducing weight gain among university students under unrestricted living conditions. A total of 99 university students were enrolled and asked to complete a questionnaire over a 3-day study period from June to September, 2008. T-test and $X^2$-test were applied to compare each behavior between weight gainers and maintainers. Logistic regression was also used for further analysis. Half of the participants used 'eat less' and 'exercise' as a way of dieting, and weight gainers tried to control their weight significantly more than weight maintainers. Most participants were engaged in very little exercise and were more likely to watch TV and use a computer. The time of lunch was proven as the only factor to predict weight change in the participants. As a result of this study, an intervention to promote exercise with friends or as a group is required to makeup for the lack of exercise among young adults. Objectives: This study was to examine the association of sugar-containing snacking habits with dental caries and periodontal diseases. Methods: This study was conducted on 2,807 adults who answered both oral examination and food intake frequency survey in the data of 2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The intake frequency of sugary snacks was selected from 17 kind of snacks, which had high sugar content and could affect oral disease. We used the complex sample logistic regression using SPSS 23.0 confirmed the correlation of sugary snack intake frequency and oral diseases. Results: 16.9% of all adults had a sugary snack at least three times a day. 20.7% of dental caries patients and 25.8% of people with periodontal diseases consumed sugary snacks more than three times a day. Especially, periodontal diseases were 1.51 times higher(p=0.008) in three or more consuming snacks group than that who ingested sugary snacks less than six times a week, by correcting the general characteristics and oral health behaviors. Conclusions: Oral health in adults affects oral health in old age, so from a public health perspective, integrated intervention is required to manage the self-cultivation health and to create correct eating habits.
