Study on a Optical Storage Device Based on Multi-beam (다중빔을 이용한 광 저장 장치에 관한 연구)

  • A new multi-beam optical system is presented on the grounds of tri-positioning systems in this paper. The system has been developed to improve the data transfer rate for the optical disk system. The actuating system is composed of a tracking and focusing actuating system basically and a newly developed beam rotating actuator. The beam rotating actuator is employed in a multi-beam optical system to trace more than one track simultaneously. The multi-beam optics is established through the optical simulation and several experimental trials. The differential phase tracking method is used in the tracking error signal detection based on the only one beam spot. We also analyze the characteristics of multi-beam optical system. The experimental result shows that the multi-beam positioning system has performance adequate to the multi-beam optical disk system.

  • In optical disk drive (ODD), disk rotation speed has been increasing rapidly to achieve high data transfer rate. High servo bandwidths for focusing and tracking actuator are required to follow dynamic disturbance by high rotation speed in ODD. However, the servo bandwidth is significantly limited by some vibration modes which are induced by the flexibility of moving part. In this work, the vibration modes affecting bandwidth of actuators are suppressed by modifying actuating force by VCM. For this, the relation between the horizontal component of the actuating force and vibration mode is analyzed and force characteristic affecting to vibration mode is obtained through electromagnetic and structural analysis using simulation program.

  • The recent increased use of mobile phone has resulted in a technical focusing on reliability issues related to drop performance. Since mobile phone may be dropped several times during their use, it is required to survive common drop accidents. The plastic injection parts such as base stopper and carrier in the encoder type actuator can be broken easily in the actual reliability test of 1.5m free drop. So, we analyzed the shock resistance characteristics of auto focus actuator with variables in the material properties using finite element method. By applying the new resin materials, we can decrease the breakage of plastic injection parts and improve the reliability of mobile phone.

  • An optical head actuator of an optical disk drive consists of two servo mechanisms for the focusing and the tracking to acquire data from disk. As the rotational speed of the disk grows, the utilized lag-lead-lead compensator has known to be above its ability for precisely controlling the optical head actuator. To overcome the difficulty, this paper propose a new controller design method for optical head actuator based fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control and the genetic algorithm(GA). It employs a two-stage control structure with a fuzzy PI and a fuzzy PD control and is optimized by the GA to yield the suboptimal fuzzy PID control performance. It is shown the feasibility of the proposed method through a numerical tracking actuator simulation.

  • Passive suspensions with fixed design constants are very restrictive in the inherent suspension problem, the trade-off between the ride quality and the suspension travel. Active suspensions are used to solve some drawbacks of passive suspensions. In this paper, we propose a controller design for vehicle active suspensions considering variable driving conditions. Our controller estimates the current driving conditions by detecting the road frequencies gotten from Fourier Transform and decides which factor must be emphasized between the ride quality and the suspension travel. In one case of focusing on the ride quality, we use the skyhook control law and in the other case of focusing on the suspension travel, the double skyhook control law is used. The control law modified by various road situations outputs the reference force value the electro-hydraulic actuator in active suspension system must generate. To track the reference force, we adopt the sliding control law which is very useful in controlling the nonlinear system like the electro-hydraulic actuator.

  • The objective of this work is to develop a new design method to find optimal coils, especially the optimal coil configuration of an optical pickup actuator. In designing actuator coils, the developed Lorenz force in the coils along the desired direction should be made as large as possible while forces and torques in other directions should be made as small as possible. The design methodology we are developing is a systematic approach that can generate optimal coil configurations for given permanent magnet configurations. To consider the best coil configuration among all feasible coil configurations, we formulate the design problem as a topology optimization of a coil. The present formulation for coil design is noble in the sense that the existing topology optimization is mainly concerned with the design of yokes and permanent magnets and that the optimization of actuator coils is so far limited within shape or size optimization. Though the present design methodology applies to any problem, the specific design example considered is the design of fine-pattern tracking and focusing coils.

  • 자동초점이란 영상을 획득하는 시스템에서 고정된 촬상면에 자동으로 초점이 맺히도록 렌즈를 구동시키는 방식으로 컴퓨터비전과 카메라 등에서 매우 중요하게 사용된다. 소형 카메라의 경우 자동초점에서 렌즈구동부인 actuator의 기술은 대량생산이 이용이하고, 위치센서가 불필요하며, 회로구성이 용이한 VCM방식이 널리 사용되고 있으며, 구동의 안정성에 비해 크기와 소음이 큰 스테핑모터 방식, 크기는 가장 작지만 납 함유문제 및 습도 취약성을 갖는 피에조 방식이 있다. 그 외에 액체렌즈방식이 있는데, 소형 구조에 저전력의 장점이 있지만 화질 및 신뢰성 검증 그리고 고압이 필요한 특징을 가지는 구조도 있다. 본 논문에서 5Mpixel급 이미지 센서를 통해 획득한 영상의 선예도를 이용하여 VCM의 actuator처럼 액체렌지를 제어하여 자동으로 초점을 맞추는 제어방식을 구현하고 검증하였다.

Model Reference Adaptive Control of Systems with Actuator Failures through Fault Diagnosis

  • The problem of recongurable ight control is investigated, focusing on model reference adaptive control(MRAC) through imprecise fault diagnosis. The method integrates the fault detection and isolation(FDI) scheme with the model reference adaptive control, and can be implemented on-line and in real-time. The algorithm can cope with the fast varying parameters. The Simulation results demonstrate the ability of reconguration to maintain the stability and acceptable performance after a failure.
