Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate variability of doses with same exposure parameters and evaluate radiographic density according to the variability of doses. Materials and methods Twenty-eight MAX-GLS (Shinhung Co, Seoul, Korea), twenty-one D-60-5 (DongSeo Med, Seoul, Korea), and eleven REX-601 (Yoshida Dental MFG, Tokyo, Japan) dental x-ray machines were selected for this study Surface doses were measured under selected combinations of tube voltage, tube current, exposure time, and constant distance 42 cm from the focal spot to the surface of the Multi-O-meter (Unfors Instruments, Billdal, Sweden). Radiographic densities were measured on the films at maximum, minimum and mean surface doses of each brand of x-ray units. Results With MAX-GLS, the maximum surface doses were thirteen to fourteen times as much as the minimum surface doses. With D-60-S, the maximum surface doses were three to eight times as much as the minimum surface doses. With REX-601, the maximum surface doses were six to ten times as much as the minimum surface doses. The differences in radiographic densities among maximum, mean, and minimum doses were significant (p<0.01). Conclusion : The surface exposure doses of each x-ray machine at the same exposure parameters were different within the same manufacturer's machines.
Progressive addition lenses (PAL) have very wide application in the modern glasses market. The unique progressive surface can make a lens have progressive refractive power, which can meet the human eye's different needs for distance-vision and near-vision. According to the national glasses fabrication standard, the difference between actual optical power after fabrication and nominal design value should be less than 0.1D over the lens effective area. The optical power distribution of PAL is determined directly by the surface. Consequently, the surface processing accuracy requirement is proposed. Beginning from the surface expressions of progressive addition lenses, the relationship equations between the surface sag and optical power distribution are derived. They are demonstrated through tolerance analysis and test of an example progressive addition lens with addition of 2.09D (5.46D-7.55D). The example addition surface is fabricated under given accuracy by a single-point diamond ultra-precision machine. The optical power of the PAL example is tested with a focal-meter after fabrication. The optical power addition difference between test result and design nominal value is 0.09D, which is less than 0.1D. The derived relationship between the surface error and optical power is verified from the PAL example simulation and test result. It can provide theoretical tolerance analysis proof for the PAL surface fabricating process.

For more than 10 years, the laser process has been studied for dismantling work; however, relatively few research works have addressed the effect of high-power fiber laser cutting for thick sections. Since in the nuclear sector, a significant quantity of thick material is required to be cut, this study aims to improve the reliability of laser cutting for such work and indicates guidelines to optimize the cutting procedure, in particular, nozzle combinations (standoff distance and focus position), to minimize waste material. The results obtained show the performance levels that can be reached with 10 kW fiber lasers, using which it is possible to obtain narrower kerfs than those found in published results obtained with other lasers. Nonetheless, fiber lasers appear to show the same effects as those of $CO_2$ and ND:YAG lasers. Thus, the main factor that affects the kerf width is the focal position, which means that minimum laser spot diameters are advised for smaller kerf widths.
An off-axis four-mirror-anastigmatic telescope is presented here which is composed of two aspheric surfaces and two spherical surfaces. The entrance pupil diameter is 290 mm and the stop is located at the primary mirror. The effective focal length is 900 mm. The strip field of view for the telescope is $15^{\circ}{\times}0.2^{\circ}$ and if the telescope is launched into an orbit about 400 km altitude, the observed range width will be more than 105 km within a scene without any other auxiliary scanning instrument. The spectral range can be as wide as from visual wave band to infrared wave band in the mirror system. This telescope can be used for environmental monitoring with different detectors whose pixel is adapted to the optical resolution. In this paper, the spectral range is chosen as 3.0 -5.0 ${\mu}m$, and center distance of the pixel is 30 ${\mu}m$. And the image quality is near the diffraction limit.
Multi-Spectral Camera(MSC) is a payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The instrument images the earth using a push-broom motion with a swath width of 15 km and a ground sample distance (GSD) of 1 m over the entire field of view (FOV) at altitude 685 Km. The instrument is designed to have an on-orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable gain/ offset and on-board image data compression/storage. The MSC instrument has one(1) channel for panchromatic imaging and four(4) channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI CCD Focal Plane Array (FPA). In this paper, the architecture and function of MSC hardware including electrical interface and the operation concept which have been established based on the mission requirements are described. And the design and the preparation of MSC system operation are analyzed and discussed.
We fabricated an anode-type ion source driven by a charge repulsion mechanism and investigated its beam shape controlled by a Whenelt mask integrated at the front face of the source. The ion beam shape was observed to vary by changing the geometry of the Whenelt mask. As the angle of inclination of the Whenelt mask was varied from $40^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$, the etched area at a thin film was reduced from 20 mm to 7.5 mm at the working distance of 286 mm, and the light transmittance through the etched surface was increased from 78% to 80%, respectively. In addition, for the step height difference, ${\Delta}$ between the inner mask and the outer mask of ${\Delta}=0$, -1 mm, and +1 mm, we observed the ion beam shape was formed to be collimated, diverged, and focused, respectively. The focal length of the focused beam was 269 mm. We approved experimentally a simple way of controlling the electric field of the ion beam by changing the geometry of the Whenelt mask such that the initial direction of the ion beam in the plasma region was manipulated effectively.

The primary purpose of this study was to analyze assessment factors by identifying and prioritizing live fire shooting area requirements using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique. Derived assessment factors for candidate sites were divided into six categories. Of these, four categories (base-to-range distance, weapon danger area, range terrain, and size) were in the realm of physical geography while the remaining two (land use and proximity to habitation) fell under the general heading of human geography. A case study was also conducted to select several alternative firing ranges using derived factors. The optimal location was analyzed by evaluating the candidate site using each assessment factor. As a result, it was found that assessment factors applying to GIS (Geographic Information System) were able to effectively analyze a suitable location for relocation of the focal training facility, taking into consideration public-safety issues, training requirements, and residents' past and likely future complaints. Through this process, it can prevent the waste of time and effort in determining an optimal location for a live fire shooing range.
Zoom lenses are now starting to be applied to mobile-phone cameras as well. A zoom lens applied to a mobile-phone camera is mainly used to capture images in the telephoto range. Such an optical system has a long focal length, similar to that of a high-magnification zoom optical system, so the position of the imaging device also shifts significantly, due to manufacturing errors of the lenses and mechanical parts. In the past, the positional shift of the imaging device was corrected by moving the first lens group and the total optical system, but this paper confirms that the position of the imaging device can be corrected by selecting any two moving lens groups. However, it is found that more distance must be secured in the front and rear of a moving lens group for this purpose.

Digital substraction technique and computer-assisted densitometirc analysis detect minor change in bone density and thus increase the diagnostic accuracy. This advantage as well as high sensitivity and objectivity which precludes human bias have drawn interest in radiologic research area. The objectives of this study are to verify if Radiographic density can be recognized in linear pattern when density profile of standard periapical radiograph with the aluminium stepwedge as the reference, was investigated under varies circumstances which can be encountered in clinical situations, and in addition to that to obtain mutual relationship between the existing standard radiographic system, and future digital image systems, by confirming the corelationship between the standard radiograph and Digora system which is a digital image system currently being used. In order to make quantitative analysis of the bone tissue, digital image system which uses high resolution automatic slide scanner as an input device, and Digora system were compared and analyzed using multifunctional program, Brain3dsp. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. Under common clinical situation that is 70kVp, 0.2 sec., and focal distance 10cm, Al-Equivalent image equation was found to be Y=11.21X+46.62 $r^2=0.9898$ in standard radiographic system, and Y=12.68X+74.59, $r^2=0.9528$ in Digora system, and linear relation was confirmed in both the systems. 2. In standard radiographic system, when all conditions were maintained the same except for the condition of developing solution, Al-Equivalent image equation was Y=10.07X+41.64, $r^2=0.9861$ which shows high corelationship. 3. When all conditions were maintained the same except for the Kilovoltage peak, linear relationship was still maintained under 60kVp, and Al-Equivalent image equation was Y=14.60X+68.86, $r^2=0.9886$ in the standard radiograhic system, and Y=13.90X+80.68, $r^2=0.9238$ in Digora system. 4. When all conditions were maintained the same except for the exposure time which was varied from 0.01 sec. to 0.8 sec., Al-Equivalent image equation was found to be linear in both the standard radiographic system and Digora system. The R-square was distributed from 0.9188 to 0.9900, and in general, standard radiographic system showed higher R-square than Digora system. 5. When all conditions were maintained the same except for the focal distance which was varied from 5cm to 30cm, Al-Equivalent image equation was found to be linear in both the standard radiographic system and Digora system. The R-square was distributed from 0.9463 to 0.9925, and the standard radiographic system had the tendency to show higher R-square in shorter focal distances.
The results of location-dependent queries(LDQ) generally depend on the current locations of query issuers. Many mechanisms, e.g. broadcast scheme, hoarding, or racking policy, have been developed to improve the system peformance and provide better services, which are specialized for LDQs. Considering geographical adjacency of data and characteristics oi target area, caching policy and broadcast scheme affect the overall performance in LDQ. For this reason, we propose both the caching policy and broadcast scheme, which these features are reflected in. Based on the adjacency of data in LDQ, our broadcast scheme use Hilbert curve to cluster data. Moreover, in order to develop the caching policy suitable for LDQ on urban area, we apply the moving distance of a MH(Mobile Host) to our caching policy We evaluate the performance of the caching policy measuring the workload of MHs and the correctness of LDQ results and the performance of the broadcast scheme measuring the average setup-time of MHs in our experiments. Finally, we expect that our caching policy Provides more correct answers when executing LDQ in focal cache and leads significant improvement of the performance of MHs. It also seems quite probable that our broadcast scheme leads improvement of battery life of the MH.
