  • This paper presents an implementation of digital high-performance speed sensorless control system of an induction motor drives with Direct Torque Control(DTC). The system consists of closed loop stator flux and torque observer, speed and torque estimators, two hysteresis controllers, an optimal switching look-up table, IGBT voltage source inverter, and TMS320C31 DSP controller board. The stator flux observer is based on the combined current and voltage model with stator flux feedback adaptive control for wide speed range. The speed estimator is using the model reference adaptive system(MRAS) with rotor flux linkages for speed turning signal estimation. In order to prove the suggested speed sensorless control algorithm, and to obtain a high-dynamic robust adaptive performance, we have some simulations and actual experiments at low(20rpm) and high(1000rpm) speed areas. The developed speed sensorless system are shown a good speed control response characteristic, and high performance features using 2.2[kW] general purposed induction motor.

  • This paper deals with a robust controller for an induction motor (IM) which is represented as a linear parameter varying systems. To do so linear matrix inequality (LMI) based approach and robust Lyapunov feedback are associated. This approach is related to the fact that the synthesis of a linear parameter varying (LPV) feedback controller for the inner loop take into account rotor resistance and mechanical speed as varying parameter. An LPV flux observer is also synthesized to estimate rotor flux providing reference to cited above regulator. The induction motor is described as a polytopic LPV system because of speed and rotor resistance affine dependence. Their values can be estimated on line during systems operations. The simulation and experimental results largely confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control.

  • In this paper, search method and sliding mode observer are developed for efficiency optimization of induction motor. The proposed control scheme consists of efficiency controller and adaptive backstepping controller. A search controller for which information of input of fuzzy controller is included in efficiency controller that uses a direct vector controlled induction motor. The search controller is based on the "Rosenbrock" method and finds the flux level at the minimum input power of induction motor. Once this optimal flux level has been determined, this information is utilized to update the rule base of a fuzzy controller A sliding mode observer is designed to estimate rotor flux and an adaptive backstepping controller is also used to compensate for mechanical uncertainties in the speed control of induction motor. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed controller.

  • The binary observer estimates the rotor position and rotor flux with alleviation of the high-frequency chattering, and retains the benefits achieved in the conventional sliding observer, such as robustness to parameter and disturbance variations. The position sensorless control of SRM under the load and inductance variation is verified by the experimental results.

  • In this article a fuzzy controller and neural network adaptive observer is proposed and applied to the case of induction motor control. The proposed observer which comprises neural network flux observer and neural network torque observer is trained to learn the flux dynamics and torque dynamics and subjected to further on-line training by means of a backpropagation algorithm. Therefore it has been shown that the robust control of induction motor neglects the rotor time constant variations.

  • In this paper, authors introduce an application of a nonlinear rotor flux observer, known under the name of ELO(extended Luenberger Observer), for direct rotor field oriented control(DRFOC) of induction motor. ELO requires no solution of nonlinear partial differential equation for its coordinate transformation and linearization used for the nonlinear observer design. Its simulation results concerned to different level of unknown variables of load torque and rotor resistance show high accuracy on rotor flux estimation in steady state.

  • Mechanical and electrical parameter uncertainties cause dynamic and static estimation errors of the rotor speed and position, resulting in performance deterioration of sensorless control systems. This paper applies an extended nonlinear observer to interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSM) for the simultaneous estimation of the rotor speed and position. Two compensation methods are proposed to improve the observer performance against parameter uncertainties: an on-line rotational inertia adjustment approach that employs the gradient descent algorithm to suppress dynamic estimation errors, and an equivalent flux error compensation approach to eliminate static estimation errors caused by inaccurate electrical parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated by experimental tests.

  • This paper presents the sliding mode observer of an induction motor for the fuel cell electric vehicles. The exact rotor flux estimation of the induction motor is important for achieving the best performance from the fuel cell electric vehicle system. However, the flux estimator of the induction motor control is highly sensitive to the voltage sensor output characteristics and system parameter variation influenced by external factors. In order to eliminate these problems, this paper investigates the electric vehicle performance due to parameter variation of the induction motor. A new method to estimate the fuel cell electric vehicle system is proposed based on the sliding mode observer.

  • In order to decrease the parameter sensitivity of deadbeat direct torque control (DB-DTC), an improved deadbeat direct torque control method for surface mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drives is proposed. First, the track errors of the stator flux and torque that are caused by model parameter mismatch are analyzed. Then a sliding mode observer is designed, which is able to predict the d-q axis currents of the next control period for one-step delay compensation, and to simultaneously estimate the model parameter disturbance. The estimated disturbance of this observer is used to estimate the stator resistance offline. Then the estimated resistance is required to update the designed sliding-mode observer, which can be used to estimate the inductance and permanent-magnetic flux linkage online. In addition, the flux and torque estimation of the next control period, which is unaffected by the model parameter disturbance, is achieved by using predictive d-q axis currents and estimated parameters. Hence, a low parameter sensitivity DB-DTC method is developed. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of the proposed direct control method.
