Because an injected spray development process consists of impinging and free spray in the diesel engine, it is needed to analyze the impinging spray and free spray, simultaneously, in order to study the diesel spray behavior. To dominate combustion characteristics in diesel engine is interaction between injected fuel and ambient gas, that is, process of mixture formation. Also it is very important to analyze liquid and vapor phases of injected fuel on the investigation of mixing process, respectively and simultaneously. Therefore, in this study, the behavior characteristics of the liquid phase and the vapor phase of diesel spray was studied by using exciplex fluorescence method in high temperature and injection pressure field. Finally, it can be confirmed that the distribution of vapor concentration is more uniform in the case of the high injection than in that of the low injection pressure.

Effects of light intensity on the steady-state fluorescence quenching kinetics are examined for general cases where the bimolecular quenching can occur via long-range energy transfer processes and the potential of mean force between the energy donor and acceptor molecules is not negligible. Approximate analytic expressions are derived for the steady-state quenching rate constant and for the ratio of the steady-state intensity of unquenched to quenched fluorescence. The analytic results are compared with the exact results obtained from numerical analysis and the results of conventional theories.

Absorption and fluorescence spectra are reported for four different 1 : 3 $Dy^{3+}$ : ligand systems in aqueous solution under mild alkaline pH conditions. The ligands included in this study are oxidiacetate, dipicolinate, iminodiacetate and methyliminodiacetate. The oscillator strengths for the 4f→4f multiplet-to-multiplet transitions are empirically determined from the absorption spectra and the intensity parameters ${\Omega}_{\lambda}$}(${\lambda}$ = 2, 4, 6) for the systems are also obtained by applying the Judd-Ofelt theorem to the observed oscillator strengths. The values of the intensity parameters for the systems are compared and discussed in terms of ligand structural properties to investigate how the intensity parameters can response to the minor changes in the ligand environment. In addition, the relative oscillator strengths for fluorescence are evaluated and compared to the results obtained from absorption spectra.
A high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the determination of DA-6034 in biological fluids using fluorescence detector. The method involved deproteinization of biological sample with the same volume of acetonitrile, 0.2M zinc sulphate. and 0.15M barium hydroxide. The aliquot of supernatant was injected onto Nova-pak C18 column and detected by fluorescence detector. Emission and excitation wavelength of detector were 336nm and 440nm. (omitted)

Multivariate analysis such as factor analysis was applied to interpret multivariate data, which were obtained from the overlapped X-ray fluorescence spectra. X-ray fluorescence spectra of 11 reference samples were obtained by the wavelength dispersive spectrometer at a specified range of angle such as $33.50∼34.50^{\circ}$. The data matrix was made from the spectra of 8 samples. The results of abstract factor analysis gave three factors. By the target testing with 8 elements contained in the reference samples, the three factors were found to be Pb, As and Cu. The concentration of these elements in the test samples was determined by target transformation factor analysis regardless overlapping individual peaks.
A dicycle pyrazoline derivative, 1-phenyl-5-(p-fluorophenyl)-3,4-($\alpha$-p-fluoro-tolylenecyclohexano) pyrazoline, was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis, fluorescence spectra and X-ray single crystal diffraction. Density function theory (DFT) calculations were performed by using B3LYP method with 6-$311G^{**}$ basis set. The optimized geometry can well simulate the molecular structure. Vibrational frequencies were predicted, assigned and compared with the experimental values, which suggest that B3LYP/6-$311G^{**}$ method can well predict the IR spectra. Both the experimental electronic absorption spectra and the predicted ones by B3LYP/6-$311G^{**}$ method reveal three electron-transition bands, with the theoretical ones having some red shifts compared with the experimental data. Natural bond orbital analyses indicate that the absorption bands are mainly derived from the contribution of n $\rightarrow\pi^*$ and $\pi\rightarrow\pi^*$ transitions. Fluorescence spectra determination shows that the title compound can emit blue-light at about 478 nm. On the basis of vibrational analysis, the thermodynamic properties of title compound at different temperature have been calculated, revealing the correlations between $C^0_{p,m}$, $S^0_m$, $H^0_m$ and temperature.

Enamel microabrasion has become accepted as a conservative, nonrestorative method of removing intrinsic and superficial dysmineralization defects from dental fluorosis, restoring esthetics with minimal loss of enamel. However, it can be difficult to determine if restoration is necessary in dental fluorosis, because the lesion depth is often not easily recognized. This case report presents a method for analysis of enamel hypoplasia that uses quantitative light-induced fluorescence (QLF) followed by a combination of enamel microabrasion with carbamide peroxide home bleaching. We describe the utility of QLF when selecting a conservative treatment plan and confirming treatment efficacy. In this case, the treatment plan was based on QLF analysis, and the selected combination treatment of microabrasion and bleaching had good results.
Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) together with MD2, one of the key pattern recognition receptors for a pathogen-associated molecular pattern, activates innate immunity by recognizing lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of Gram-negative bacteria. Although LBP and CD14 catalyze LPS transfer to the TLR4/MD2 complex, the detail mechanisms underlying this dynamic LPS transfer remain elusive. Using negative-stain electron microscopy, we visualized the dynamic intermediate complexes during LPS transfer-LBP/LPS micelles and ternary CD14/LBP/LPS micelle complexes. We also reconstituted the entire cascade of LPS transfer to TLR4/MD2 in a total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscope for a single molecule fluorescence analysis. These analyses reveal longitudinal LBP binding to the surface of LPS micelles and multi-round binding/unbinding of CD14 to single LBP/LPS micelles via key charged residues on LBP and CD14. Finally, we reveal that a single LPS molecule bound to CD14 is transferred to TLR4/MD2 in a TLR4-dependent manner. These discoveries, which clarify the molecular mechanism of dynamic LPS transfer to TLR4/MD2 via LBP and CD14, provide novel insights into the initiation of innate immune responses.

To analyze mixed rare earth elements quantitatively a nonlinear fitting method was applied to laser induced fluorescence signals. Mixed flourescence signal of two elements, Sm and Eu were resolved independently and determined the concentration of these two elements simultaneously. It was found that detection limit for each element in the mixture was sub-ppb level which was the same as that of the single element sample. Additionally it was found that lifetimes of Sm and Eu extracted from the nonlinear fitting method is the same as in the single element cases.
This study presents a novel DNA part characterization technique that increases throughput by combinatorial DNA part assembly, solid plate-based quantitative fluorescence assay for phenotyping, and barcode tagging-based long-read sequencing for genotyping. We confirmed that the fluorescence intensities of colonies on plates were comparable to fluorescence at the single-cell level from a high-end, flow-cytometry device and developed a high-throughput image analysis pipeline. The barcode tagging-based long-read sequencing technique enabled rapid identification of all DNA parts and their combinations with a single sequencing experiment. Using our techniques, forty-four DNA parts (21 promoters and 23 RBSs) were successfully characterized in 72 h without any automated equipment. We anticipate that this high-throughput and easy-to-use part characterization technique will contribute to increasing part diversity and be useful for building genetic circuits and metabolic pathways in synthetic biology.
