This paper presents a new power flow method to analyze the AC electric railway system effectively in both cases of traction and regenerative braking of the trains. The algorithm to easily solve the power flow of the AC electric railway system with the trains of regenerative braking from the system without a train of regenerative braking is derived. Using this new power flow method, the voltage characteristics of a typical AC electric railway system is easily analyzed in both cases of traction and regenerative braking of the trains. We show that the presented method can be applied effectively in order to analyze the AT-fed AC electric railway system in both cases of traction and regenerative braking of the trains. A STATCOM(Static Synchronous Compensator) is applied to the system in order to improve the voltage drop problem and this case is also analyzed to show the effect of STATCOM.
A parallel-feeding AC traction power system increases the power supply capacity and decreases voltage fluctuations, but the circulating power flow caused by the phase difference between the traction substations prevents the system from being widely used. A circuit analysis shows that the circulating power flow increases almost linearly as the phase difference increases, which adds extra load to the system and results in increased power dissipation and load unbalance. In this paper, we suggest a phase shifter for the parallel-feeding AC traction power system. The phase shifter regulates the phase difference and the circulating power flow by injecting quadrature voltage which can be obtained directly from the Scott-connection transformer in the traction substation. A case study involving the phase shifter applied to the traction power system of a Korean high-speed rail system shows that a three-level phase shifter can prevent circulating power flow while the phase difference between substations increases up to 12 degrees, mitigate the load unbalance, and reduce power dissipation.

Measurement of flow rate is required in various fields. Water meters are often used at home, and flow meters are used in water and sewage plants, petrochemical industries and so on.. A system is needed to monitor the flow rate in real time and notify immediately when flow rate is abnormal. Recently, with the development of the IoT it is possible to construct such devices at low cost. WeMos can be programmed with Arduino IDE as a mini wifii IoT module. The flow sensor can output a digital pulse proportional to the flow rate. In this paper, we developed the flow monitoring and warning system using WeMos and IoT technology. When the system operates, it calculates the flow rate, sends the value as JSON format to the server, monitors the flow rate as graph from the remote with the smartphone. We also implement the system to promptly send alert message to the smart phone using Pushbullet when the flow rate is abnormal.
Results from an experimental study of flow distribution in a close-coupled catalytic converter(CCC) are presented. The experiments were carried out with a flow measurement system specially designed for this study under steady and transient flow conditions. A pitot tube was a tool for measuring flow distribution at the exit of the first monolith. The flow distribution of the CCC was also measured by LDV system and flow visualization. Results from numerical analysis are also presented. Experimental results showed that the flow uniformity index decreases as flow Reynolds number increases. In steady flow conditions, the flow through each exhaust pipe made some flow concentrations on a specific region of the CCC inlet. The transient test results showed that the flow through each exhaust pipe in the engine firing order, interacted with each other to ensure that the flow distribution was uniform. The results of numerical analysis were qualitatively accepted with experimental results. They supported and helped explain the flow in the entry region of CCC.

This paper provides insights into the sFlow monitoring system of OF@KREONET. OF@KREONET is software defined network (SDN) testbed adapted by KREONET (Korea Research Environment Open NETwork). OF@KREONET uses SDN-based network virtualization to slice the network among multiple concurrent experimenter. Flow Monitoring of OF@KREONET using sFlow. sFlow and OpenFlow can be used to provide an integrated flow monitoring system where OpenFlow controller can be used to define flows to be monitored by sFlow. OF@KREONET flow monitoring system supports monitoring of per slice FlowSpace. An Experimental can monitor his/her own FlowSpace while network administrator can monitor all spaces.

In this study, the ventilation characteristics and the relationships between the required ventilation flow rate and the ventilation system flow rate was investigated by numerical method for the optimum design of the transverse ventilation and semi-transverse ventilation system in road tunnels. The following results were obtained. In supply exhaust transverse ventilation system, the system supply-exhaust air flow rate is theoretically equal to the difference between the required ventilation flow rate and natural ventilation flow rate. However, it is shown that it increases by about 10% in the analysis results. And, in the case of the longitudinal air flow rate is increased by installed jet fans, ventilation system air flow rate is reduced. However, as the longitudinal air flow rate increases, the concentration of pollutants in the tunnel decreases, so the exhaust effect of pollutants decreases, and the effect of reducing the system air flow rate is decreased. In case of semi-transverse with only air supply, ventilation system air flow rate is equal to required ventilation air flow rate when tunnel inlet velocity is negative, but results is shown it is increased within about 13.3%. Also, it was found that ventilation effect can not be expected even if the jet fans are increased when the tunnel inlet velocity is negative.
In summer electrical energy is consumed in very high rate. It is used to operate conventional air conditioning system. Hot and humid air can germinate mould spores, encourage ill health, and create physiological stress (discomfort). Dehumidifier solar cooling effect is the one alternative solution saving electrical energy. We use surplus heat energy in the summer, to get cooling effect and then to get human reach to comfort condition. These devices have two system, dehumidifier and regeneration system. This paper will be focus in dehumidifier system. Dehumidifier system use for absorbing moisture in the air and decreasing air temperature. When the liquid desiccant as strong solution contact with the vapor air in the packed tower, it works. The heat and mass transfer performances of flow pattern in the packed tower of dehumidifier are analyzed and compared in detail. In this experiment was introduced, the flow patterns are parallel flow and counter flow. The performance of these flow patterns will calculate from air side. Which is the best flow pattern that gave huge mass transfer rate? The proposed dehumidifier flow pattern will be helpful in the design and optimization of the dehumidifier solar cooling system.
The flow characteristics around a floating cylinder in a swirling flow field in a vertical pipe with a length of 600mm and an inner diameter of 100mm is investigated by the use of the Stereoscopic-PIV system. The measurement system consists of two cameras, a Nd-Yag laser and a host computer. Optical sensors(LEDs) were used to detect the location of the floating cylinder and to activate the Stereoscopic-PIV system. A conditional sampling Stereoscopic-PIV system was developed in which the flow fields around the floating cylinder are measured at the events of the activations. It has been verified that the motion of the floating cylinder becomes stable when the azimuthal velocity component of the swirl flow is maintained at stable states.
The flow characteristics of a NACA0012 airfoil was investigated in rectangular water circulating channel. The flow patterns around an airfoil at various angles of attack between $0^{\circ}\;and\;30^{\circ}\;at\;Re=1.91{\times}104$ were visualized and measured with 2-D PIV system and laser sheet illumination. Flow behaviors such as velocity distribution, kinetic energy and flow separation etc. around an airfoil were obtained by means of 2-D PIV system. The behaviors show the difference of flow pattern clearly and separation phenomena become more active with increasing angle of attack.

An axial flow fan design system has been made by integrating the self-developed programs and I-DEAS. By using the system, an axial flow fan was designed, manufactured and verified through the wind tunnel experiments in coorperation with a refrigerator appliance division. It has been shown that the optimal design without the ambiguity of the design parameters can be possible by the three-dimensional flow simulations using a self-developed CID code, FANS-3D. (Flow Analysis code using Navier Stokes aguations in Three-Dimensional curvilinear coordinates). By virtue of the fluency of the data flow, an optimally designed fan which satisfies design conditions can be selected in a short time and less cost. The manufacturing processes of a Mock-up and an injection molding die have been automated through the self-made interface programs which connnect from the start to the end. It has been shown that the newly developed fan by this system has a superior performance characteristics to an existing fan.
