비례솔레노이드 액추에이터를 이용한 압력제어밸브 (Pressure Control Valve using Proportional Electro-magnetic Solenoid Actuator)

  • This paper presents an experimental characteristics of electro-hydraulic proportional pressure control valve. In this study, poppet and valve body which are assembled into the proportional solenoid were designed and manufactured. The constant force characteristics of proportional solenoid actuator in the control region should be independent of the plunger position in order to be used to control the valve position in the fluid flow control system. The stroke-force characteristics of the proportional solenoid actuator is determined by the shape (or parameters) of the control cone. In this paper, steady state and transient characteristics of the solenoid actuator for electro-hydraulic proportional valve are analyzed using finite element method and it is confirmed that the proportional solenoid actuator has a constant attraction force in the control region independently on the stroke position. The effects of the parameters such as control cone length, thickness and taper length are also discussed.

토석류 발생량 평가를 위한 현장시험 방법 (In-Situ Experiment Method on Evaluation of Debris Flow)

  • 국내에서 최근 수년간의 토석류 피해가 발생된 이후에 많은 학자와 기술자들이 노력을 기울이고 있지만 아직까지 국내지형의 광역지역에서 발생하는 토석류의 위험도에 대한 명확한 평가방법이 없는 실정이다. 최근 국내에서도 광역지역에서의 토석류 발생량 및 확산 범위를 산정하기 위하여 SINMAP이라는 프로그램을 많이 활용하고 있다. 이러한 프로그램을 활용하기 위해서는 정확한 입력정수를 산정하는 것도 중요한 과제 중의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 SINMAP에서 필요한 입력정수를 중심으로 현장에서 수행할 수 있는 시험 방법에 대해서 제안하고자 하였다. 그 결과에 의하면 투수량 계수, 흙의 점착력, 흙의 밀도, 흙의 내부마찰각과 토층의 심도가 중요한 설계정수임을 파악하였다. 이를 위한 현장조사방법으로 시험굴조사, 블록시료 채취, 현장 밀도시험, 오거보링, 지표투수시험, 공내전단시험 및 동적콘관입시험 등이 수행 가능한 것으로 판명되었다. 추가적으로 실내에서의 물리 및 역학시험 수행 등을 통하여 현장시험과 실내시험과의 비교 검토를 수행하면 입력정수에 대한 신뢰성이 향상할 수 있다. 그러나 현실적으로 토석류 발생이 예상되는 상부계류는 급경사지이므로 장비투입이 불가능하거나 투입이 가능하더라도 상부계류까지 진입도로 개설 및 관련 인허가 시간이 필요하므로 장기적으로는 경량장비의 개발이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

질소희석된 프로판 동축류 버너에서 부상화염에 대한 부력효과 (Buoyancy Effect on Stable and Oscillating Lifted Flames in Coflow Jets for Highly Diluted Propane)

  • When large size nozzle with low jet velocity is used, the buoyancy effect arises from the density difference among propane, air, and burnt gas. Flame characteristics in such buoyant jets have been investigated numerically to elucidate the effect of buoyancy on lifted flames. It has been demonstrated that the cold jet has circular cone shape since upwardly injected propane jet decelerates and forms stagnation region. In contrast to the cold flow, the reacting flow with a lifted flame has no stagnation region by the buoyancy force induced from the burnt gas. To further illustrate the buoyancy effect on lifted flames, the reacting flow with buoyancy is compared with non-buoyant reacting flow. Non-buoyant flame is stabilized at much lower height than the buoyant flame. At a certain range of fuel jet velocities and fuel dilutions. an oscillating flame is demonstrated numerically showing that the height of flame base and tip vary during one cycle of oscillation. Under the same condition. non-buoyant flame exhibits only steady lifted flames. This confirms the buoyancy effect on the mechanism of lifted flame oscillation.

The role of extensional rheology in polymer processing

  • The shear behavior of polymers obtained by means of devices such as capillary and cone-and-plate rheo-meters is commonly used to assess their processing performance and as a characterization tool. However, the number of instances when two polymers have the same shear properties but perform differently during certain types of processing operations (e.g. film blowing and sheet extrusion) indicate that shear properties alone may not be sufficient to characterize polymeric fluids. We begin by defining the kinematics of shear-free or extensional flow and the associated material functions. The extensional and shear behavior of three different types of polyethylene (PE) are then compared to illustrate the points that one cannot ascertain the extensional properties of polymer melts from their shear properties and, furthermore, there may not be a simple relation between properties obtained from one type of extensional flow and those of another type. The kinematics of most processing flows are extensional rather than shear in nature, and , hence, the performance of polymers during processes such as fiber spinning, film casting, film blowing, thermoforming, blow molding, and even extrusion is more readily accounted for through extensional viscosity measurements. Methods for carrying out extensional flow measurements are then reviewed including approximate methods. To illustrate the sensitivity of extensional viscosity measurements to subtle changes in the molecular architecture of PEs, results are presented for samples with a narrow molecular weight distribution but with varying numbers of long chain branches. Finally, constitutive equations which allow one to separate shear and extensional flow behavior are discussed as any attempts to simulate the subtle processing differences between two polymers will require constitutive equations of this nature.

Analytical Application of Glow Discharge Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (GD-AAS) Using Three Types of Jet Configurations Under Power Mode

  • Three anode configurations of six-jet, cone-jet and cylindrical-jet are tested for their analytical performance under power mode operation. The effect of pressure, power and gas flow rate on atomic absorption signals have been studied. The increase of atomic absorption signal of sample element is observed at a fixed pressure in all configurations as the gas flow rate increase up to 300-600 seem, and as the power dissipated in the glow discharge cell increase. The lower the pressure is in the glow discharge cell at a fixed discharge power and argon flow rate, the greater the absorbance of sample element is. The optimum conditions are taken from these data and a calibration curve of Cu in low-alloy steel sample is obtained. In this calibration curve, six-jet configuration shows the best analytical results varies as the sample element.

  • Cement paste is originally the basic material and crucial factor consisting concrete. This study investigates the relationship between flow apparatuses, which are ring flow(R-F), flow cone(F-C) and mini slump(M-S), in order to estimate the fluidity of cement Paste. For quantitatively evaluating the measured data this study also investigated the calibration of the rheology consistent, such as yield value and plastic viscosity, of cement paste using viscometer For this purpose the present work discussed the influence of 3 type of ordinary portland cement with different companies, affecting the fluidity of cement paste. and it also demonstrated the influence of the various kinds of mineral admixtures, such as fly ash(FA), blast furnace slag(BS) and silica fume(SF) and that of incorporating ratio. The author concluded that using R-F apparatus is the most effective flow test method of cement paste and it is exactly proportional to other apparatus' rheological properties.

끝틈새가 선회각이 큰 터빈 동익 익렬 후류영역에서의 3차원유동 및 압력손실에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Tip Clearance Height on the Three-Dimensional Flow and Aerodynamic Loss in the Wake Region of a High-Turning Turbine Rotor Cascade)

  • The effect of tip clearance height on the three-dimensional flow and aerodynamic loss in the wake region of a high-turning turbine rotor cascade has been investigated with a miniature cone-type five-hole probe. Distributions of velocity magnitude, secondary velocity vectors, and total-pressure loss coefficient are presented for three tip gap-to-span ratios of h/s = 0.0, 0.5 and 1.0 percent. The result shows that with the increment of h/s, tip leakage vortex tends to be intensified and aerodynamic loss due to the leakage vortex is increased as well. In the case of h/s = 1.0 percent, aerodynamic loss in the tip-leakage flow region is found dominant in comparison with that in the passage vortex region. With increasing h/s, mass-averaged secondary loss coefficient has a greater portion in the mass-averaged total-pressure loss coefficient.

Effects of resveratrol on laminar shear stress-induced mitochondrial biogenesis in human vascular endothelial cells

  • [Purpose] The purpose of the study was to determine the combined effects of resveratrol supplementation with high-flow LSS on mitochondrial biogenesis in human vascular endothelial cells. [Methods] Cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells were treated with 20 μM of RSV. For the shear experiments, cells grown to a >90% confluence were exposed to physiological levels of LSS (5 to 20 dyne/cm2) for 12 to 36 hours using a cone and plate shear apparatus. Gene expressions were analyzed by western blotting. [Results] Depletion of mitochondrial integrity was directly associated with increase in endothelial activation/dysfunction. The expressions of mitochondrial biogenesis regulator genes, such as SIRT1, PGC-1α, and TFAM, and the mitochondrial contents were significantly increased after treatment with both resveratrol and high-flow LSS for 12 hours. However, supplementation of resveratrol to high-flow LSS for a prolonged duration had no synergistic effect on the levels of mitochondrial biogenesis regulator gene expressions and mitochondrial content compared to the LSS treatment alone. [Conclusion] The present study demonstrated that the supplementation of resveratrol to high-flow LSS has no synergistic effects on enhancing mitochondrial integrity in human vascular endothelial cells.

만장굴 용암동굴을 형성한 용암의 공급지에 관한 연구 (Study on Source of Lava Flows Forming the Manjanggul Lava Tube)

  • 제주도 북동부 지역에서 만장굴 용암동굴을 형성한 용암은, 그 용암의 공급지가 거문오름 분석구로 추정되었지만, 그 공급지에 대한 자세한 연구가 없기 때문에 이에 대한 이견이 좁혀지지 않고 있다. 우리는 현생 화산지역에서 형성되고 있는 세계 도처의 용암동굴에 관한 연구결과를 토대로, 만장굴 용암동굴을 형성한 용암이 어디에서 공급되었는지를 유추해 보았다. 제주도 북동부 지역에서 암상, 형상과 고도를 바탕으로 용암류역도를 작성하고, 각 용암류역에 나타나는 용암동굴의 분포와 상호 연관성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 거문오름 용암동굴계는 거문오름 용암류역 내에서 주간동굴선, 복합동굴망과 단일동굴선으로 구분된다. 주간동굴선은 웃산전굴, 북오름굴, 대림동굴, 만장굴, 김녕굴, 용천동굴로 연결되며, 여기에 벵뒤굴 복합동굴망이 있고 김녕빌레못굴~게웃샘굴로 연결되는 단일동굴선이 있다. 또한 거문오름 분석구에서 북북동 방향으로 발달되는 약 2km 협곡은 기존 용암동굴의 붕괴도랑으로 해석되며 그 위치와 방향성에 의하면 거문오름 용암동굴계의 주판동굴선 상류 일부분임을 지시한다. 따라서 용암류역도, 용암동굴 분포, 붕괴도랑 방향성 등을 고려할 때, 만장굴 용암동굴을 형성한 용암류는 거문오름 분석구에서 공급된 것으로 판단된다.

콘형 가스 스월버너의 3차원 난류 유동장 구조 (The Structure of Three-dimensional Turbulent Flow Fields of a Cone Type Gas Swirl Burner)

  • This paper represents axial mean velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and swirl number based on momentum flux measured in the X-Y plane and Y-Z plane respectively of a cone type gas swirl burner by using X-probe from the hot-wire anemometer system. This experiment is carried out at flow rates 350 and $450{\ell}/min$ respectively, which are equivalent to the combustion air flow rate necessary for heat release 15,000 kcal/hr in gas furnace, in the test section of a subsonic wind tunnel. Axial mean velocities and turbulent kinetic energies show that their maximum values exist centering around narrow slits situated radially on the edge of and in the forefront of a burner until $X/R{\fallingdotseq}1.5$, but they have a peculiar shape like a starfish diffusing and developing into inward and outward of a burner by means of the mixing between flows ejected from narrow slits, an inclination baffle plate and swirl vanes respectively according to downstream regions. Moreover, they show a relatively large value in the inner region of 0.5$S_m$ obtained by integration of velocity profiles shows a characteristic that has an inflection point composing of the maximum and minimum value until X/R<3, but shows close agreement with the geometric swirl number after a distance of X/R=3.
