An experimental facility consisting of two $3{\times}4.4{\times}3.8m$ rooms identical in construction is built. Each room has a control system and storage tank supplying hot water to the radiant floor heating system. The facility enables simultaneous comparision of two different control stratigies each implemented in a separate room. The operating performance of three kinds of flow control scheme is tested and compared in this study : (i) conventional on-off control based on feedback from room air temperature (ii) TPSC(two parameter switching control) (iii) TPOC(two parameter on-off control). Results show that TPSC and TPOC using room air and surface temperature sequentially as feedback signal to control hot water supply is the better temperature regulation scheme than conventional control based on feedback from only room air temperature. They are good candidates for the room with radiant floor heating system under continuous and intermittent heating mode.
Despite the fact that UFAD (Under Floor Air Distribution) systems have many benefits and are being applied in the field in increasing numbers, there is a strong need for an improved fundamental understanding of several key performance features of these systems. This study numerically investigates the effect of design parameters on the performance of UFAD, especially focused on thermal comfort. The design parameters considered in this study include supplied air temperature, supplied flow rate, diffuser shape, swirl, diffuser location, and floor-to-floor height. Also this study has compared UFAD with over head system, on the point of thermal comfort by evaluating PMV using radiative mean temperature, which shows how inadequate the evaluation of thermal comfort can be when radiation is neglected. Until now, the radiative temperature has been the missing link between CFD and thermal comfort, but the present study paves the way for overcoming this weakness.

In this study, the effects of various operational conditions for floor radiant heating system were researched by experiments. Hot water supply set temperature, indoor air set temperature and supply water flowrate were considered as operational conditions. The control method for this system is On-Off control of automatic thermostatic valve. The purpose of this study is to evaluate indoor thermal control characteristics and energy performance, respectively. As a result, if lower supply water temperature is applied, the supply and return temperature difference is reduced and energy consumption of heat supply is also reduced.

The Effects of hot water supply temperature on indoor thermal characteristics for floor radiant heating system in residential apartment were researched by computer simulation. The parametric study on hot water supply temperatures with different outdoor air temperatures was done with regard to energy performance and control characteristics, respectively. As a result, the maximum overshoot of indoor air temperature and energy consumption were reduced by adjusting the hot water supply temperatures with outdoor air temperatures.

In this study, the operation strategy of the radiant floor cooling is evaluated in terms of indoor environmental conditions and energy consumption through simulations using the TRNSYS comparing the existing cooling operation. The operation strategy during continuously operated for cooling is proposed that a representative room had additional equipments and other rooms were operated with only a radiant floor cooling system and that system and control method for cooling are varied with period while intermittently operated for cooling. Specifically, when there are no people in the room, rooms were operated by only radiant floor cooling system using cooling storage and when people are occupied, rooms were operated by dehumidification and supplementary cooling device with radiant floor cooling system. The results of this study show that proposed operation strategy can stably maintain the set room air temperature and can reduce the energy consumption compared to the existing cooling method during continuously operated for cooling. While intermittently operated for cooling, the difference of set room air temperature by proposed operation strategy does not happen, satisfying comfort standards and the radiant floor cooling can expect to supply stable electric power because of decreasing demand for peak electric power of energy consumption.

The floor material is known as the most influential emission source of the residential building, because most floor material is made of wood compound and adhesive like a plywood flooring. Moreover, floor heating system keeps the inside temperature of the material high. As the emission of hazardous chemical compound from the construction material is influenced by many factors, it is necessary to analyze the emission characteristics of the floor material to improve IAQ. In this study, numerical analysis is performed to investigate the emission characteristics of the floor material affected by several factors such as temperature, air exchange rate, initial concentration, and internal diffusion coefficient. A simulation program is also written based on the mass transfer theory. The simulation results show that there is some level of difference on the TVOC concentration when each of the factors is variable.
The objective of this study is to show the system Integrations and control method for operation of the Radiant Floor Cooling. The systems for radiant floor cooling system consist of only using the radiant floor cooling and the radiant floor cooling integrated with a dehumidification system. And the study is suggested control method with composed radiant floor cooling system through simulations. Radiant floor cooling systems compose of four main parts: an existing radiant heating panel, manifold, cooling source and controller, and sensors. If dehumidifying or supplementary cooling is needed, additional equipments such as PAC and AHU are needed. Simulation results show that control method only using radiant floor cooling system can prevent condensation and set room air temperature with the exception of hot and humid periods and control method using the radiant floor cooling integrated with a dehumidification system is comfort thermal environments and can reduce the cooling load quickly, moreover, show comfort control method to meet various cooling operation situations.

One of the most common approaches to achieve better thermal comfort with the radiant floor heating system is supply water temperature control, which is that supply water temperature is varied with outdoor air temperature. But the application of this control method was not easy, because there has been no way to determine the supply water temperature. So in this study, a comprehensive, yet simple calculation method to find out the required supply water temperature is suggested by combining the building heat loss equation and the heat emission model of hydronic radiant floor heating system for single zone. And then using this calculation method, the multizone control method is suggested and confirmed through the thermal simulation. It is shown that indoor air temperature is stably maintained around the set point.

In this study, to improve the formability of the rear floor in series stamping process, the method for predicting the temperature of tools and steel sheet is proposed using FE analysis. To do this, tensile tests and straight pulling friction tests of three steel sheets are carried out at temperatures up to $300^{\circ}C$, and the effect of temperature on the tensile properties and the characteristics of friction are examined. The steel sheets have a higher n-value in the temperature range of about $50^{\circ}C$, and it is related to the maximum uniform elongation. Also, the blue shortness occurs in the temperature range of about $150^{\circ}C$. When the temperature is higher than $200^{\circ}C$, the friction coefficient increase with increasing temperature. From the FE-simulation, the effects of the punch temperature considering heat expansion in the number of stamping are examined and discussed. The technique developed in this study fur estimating tool temperature can be used to develop more feasible ways to improve continuous productivity in series stamping process.
The present paper deals with two types of heating methods widely used for the Radiant Floor heating systems in Korea. Of these, one method circulates hot water according to the predefined schedule ("intermittent heating") while the other runs the system with the aid of thermostats ("continuous heating"). The standard version of SERI-RES has been modified for the numerical simulation of the problem. Preliminary results show relatively large temperature swings in the case of intermittent heating with solar availability. On the other hand, the case of continuous heating would avoid such undesirable temperature fluctuations. These results are also verified by experimental evaluations.
