Flood control of the Mekong delta should be developed over time for rural as well as urban areas. The hydraulic modelling effort is aimed an investigating flow distribution and water level. For the flood control study the flood model made with the VRSAP program is used. Concerning future improvement of the models it is recommended to improve the quality of water level and discharge, extend the number of the measuring locations needed for input for the models, systematically review and analyze future measurement campaigns in order to obtain better understanding of the complex hydraulic aspects, verify and update the topographical data used to model the rivers and cannals, carry out detailed calibration and verification of the models on water levels, discharges etc.
This study aims at the determination of the coefficienties of runoff and infiltration affecting runoff. The rating curve is more available than the peak flood runoff to determine flood control plan of flood control reservoir and the volume of hydroelectric power plant, or to make multipurpose dam. In hydrologic analysis and design, it is necessary to develop relations between precipitation and runoff, possible using some of the factors affecting runoff as parameters. In order to calculate the runoff discharge, the runoff process constituting elements are divided to the surface runoff, the subsurface runoff and the groundwater runoff. By comparing the computed hydrograph with the measured hydrograph, determinned the watershed TANK Model constant Varying the tank model constant for approximating the computed hydrograph to the measured hydrograph.
The prediction of a design-flood hydrograph at a particular site on a river may be based on the derivation of discharge or stage hydrograph at an upstream section, togeater with a method to route this hydrograph along the rest of river. On the other hand, flood routing methods provide a useful tool for the analysis of flooding in all but the smaller catchment, and these methods are largely stored into hydrological method and hydraulic method. Although the Muskingum Method as a hydrological method ignores dynamic effects on the flood wave, Muskingum-Cunge Method based on hydraulic method is possible to improve the method so that it gives a good approximation to the solution of the linear convective-diffusion equation. This is made on the basis of the finite diffeience equation for the Muskingum Method. In the study, the outflows predicted by Muskingum-Cunge Method are campared with the observed outflows of the Pyung Chang River.
This Daper presents effective simulation of the dispersion of thermal discharge which can be relesed at Boryong power plant. Applied numerical models are finite difference method for hydrodynamic analysis and Masch-model comprised of conditions for ambient current velocity. Application of these models is done in Cheonsu Bay Summing up the results of this study are as follows; 1. It is found that the result for measurements of temperature appears high at southwardly Songdo on flood. The reason is that tidal currents which flowed north direction were accompanied with southwardly dispersed thermal discharge. A minute Particle of thermal Plume has a tendency to dispels inward Deacheon Bay. 2. According to the results of numerical experiment, maximum distance for thermal discharge dispersion appeared 10.8 km at lower part and 8.6 km at upper part with power plant outlet as starting point. 3. Comparative the numerical simulation and Airbone Multispectral Scanner indicated that thermal discharge should be verified separative phenomena. The simulated results were compared with field data set showing good agreement. It is concluded that these model can be simulated well.

The objectives of this study is to introduce and apply neural network theory to real hydrologic systems for stochastic nonlinear predicting of daily runoff discharge in the river catchment. Back propagation algorithm of neural network model is applied for the estimation of daily stochastic runoff discharge using historical daily rainfall and observed runoff discharge. For the fitness and efficiency analysis of models, the statistical analysis is carried out between observed discharge and predicted discharge in the chosen runoff periods. As the result of statistical analysis, method 3 which has much processing elements of input layer is more prominent model than other models(method 1, method 2) in this study. Therefore, on the basis of this study, further research activities are needed for the development of neural network algorithm for the flood prediction including real-time forecasting and for the optimal operation system of dams and so forth.

In this study, the model enhancing the safety of reservoirs and reducing the downstream flood damage by reservoirs system operation during abnormal flood was developed. Linear programming was used for the optimal reservoirs system operation during an abnormal flood and fuzzy inference system was introduced to solve the uncertainty problem which is included in hydrological factors like inflow, water level and inflow variation of reservoir operation. The linear programming model determined the optimal reservoir system operation rules and could be used in situation where water demands varies rapidly during the abnormal flood events using fuzzy control technique. In this study, the optimal reservoirs system operation for Andong and Imha reservoirs located in the upper basin of Nakdong river was performed in order that the design flood discharge at Andong city would not be exceeded for the design flood of 100 year and PMF(Probable Maximum Flood). And the model that determines the release according to the downstream flow discharge, the reservoir storage, the inflow and the inflow variation of each reservoir was developed using the optimal system operation result and fuzzy control technique. The developed model consisted of 224 fuzzy rules according to the conditions of Andong reservoir, Imha reservoir and Andong city. And the release from each reservoir could be determined when the current data are used as input data through the developed GUI.
This study aims to analyze the hydrological characteristics of downstream areas by the dam discharge of Soyanggang dam by using HEC-RAS Model. As a result of analyzing the data of dam discharge divided into hydropeaking discharge and total discharge, it as found that the maximum hydro-peaking discharge and the maximum total discharge have been 254.4 CMS and 1567.7 CMS respectively for the past 11 years. When the hydro-peaking discharge was applied to HEC-RAS Model, there occurred some sections where the water level rapidly changed, but the velocity of moving water was quite stable in the range between 0.23 m/sec and 1.16m/sec. Besides, when the total discharge was applied to this model, the submersible bridge along the dam downstream was flooded, and in some sections, the water level increased over the flood plain. Accordingly, this study judged that it is required to necessarily consider all the influence made by an increase of Soyanggang Dam's discharge when waterfronts are installed or used at dam downstream areas.
For the last two decades, Seoul has always been affected by large floods. As climate change causes more frequent localized heavy rains exceeding the capacity of sewer or river to discharge water, flood damage is expected to increase. Under the situation, detention facilities for lacking capacity of sewers can control stormwater runoff to reduce flood damage in urbanized areas. In this study, in order to reduce flood damage in Cheonggyecheon areas, the capacity of detention facilities was decided to make up for the lacking capacity of main sewers in case of the rainfall in July, 2001 as large flood. The average amount of stormwater detained in eight Cheonggyecheon drainage areas is $235.09m^3/ha$. Location and size of stormwater detention facilities is designed to have effects in short term by targeting the reduction of flood damage. Schools and parks are suggested as optimal locations where detention facilities are constructed in drainage areas.
